The clam chowder was delicious, both me and my mother loved it! Tasty fries(not those weird super skinny ones). The short rib grilled cheese was amazing, the cheese was super gooey and the meat was tender and flavorful. The service was excellent, we were seated right away. The lightbulbs are super old\intricate looking, very cool!

Great cocktails & awesome nachos. Blonde Amanda was awesome! She Made some great drinks, was fun, and engaging — she had a lot of great suggestions for drinks on the menu & made a mean super fruit mimosa.

The short rib with onions grilled cheese($ 13, +$ 1 for side of tots) was amazing! They probably added a ton of butter to that bread but who cares! Noms. I’ll eat a salad later to balance it out. They give you a lot of tots for the additional $ 1. My friend and I went there around 8:30pm on a Saturday night. It was pretty empty and our food came out quickly. I didn’t catch the bartender’s name but she was nice! I’ve been to Clery’s a couple of times and honestly, it’s your typical bar. The place starts getting packed around 10pm(usually there’s a line). Average priced drinks, loud music, and even a downstairs section for dancing. It’s conveniently located in the Back Bay area for quick drinks after work. But not convenient for parking. There are surrounding meter spots and scattered amounts of visitor parking within the residents parking area. If you’re lucky you’ll snag a spot right across from Clery’s on Dartmouth St. Non-resident meter parking on Saturday and Sundays. Back Bay orange line station is also one block up Dartmouth.

Maybe a 3 because I’ve had better experiences here. I’ve been here a few times for post work happy hour. It’s a very casual, fairly large bar down the street from Back Bay Station and Copley Mall. It’s in a good location, but parking can be difficult — there’s meters all around(look out for resident only parking signs) but it gets filled. There are also $ 10 evening garages you can park at for late nights out. Most recently, I went with a large birthday party of about 30 – 40 people. We were able to grab a table or two at the back end of the front bar(they have two rooms with a bar, a room for seating/dining) and an entire dance floor downstairs(still have not checked it out). Overall, it was a fun time — drinks are decently priced, food is available early in the night, the waitress that helped us was awesome and they let us provide our own birthday cake(they brought it out with our candles lit). I would only note one issue I had(besides the obnoxious guy sitting in our area that was being rude — not connected to Clerys establishment). At the end of the night, I noticed I forgot my credit card at the bar(I had bought a round of drinks early in the night and had to chase after the birthday girl so I must have left it with my signed receipt), so I went back to ask if it was there. They found my card charged with a drink — which I DEFINITELY didn’t order(who orders a mimosa at night, especially when you love whisky and wine). Anyways, the«gentleman» at the bar was«nice» enough to cancel the extra order, but tossed my credit card toward me after and walked away. I try not to take things personally, but I think I would consider that bad service.

After a long Amtrak ride from Albany to the Back Bay Amtrak station, my sons and I were very hungry and dropped in to Clerys for a late dinner. The appetizer of very loaded nachos with pulled pork and, our waiter’s suggestion of grilled chicken for the sandwich, both were excellent! Just sorry we didn’t have room for dessert. Can’t wait to visit again. Well worth the trip!

We had our St. Paddy’s party here in March and it was amazing! The staff was awesome, the atmosphere was great, and the food that came out of the kitchen was deathly at 12am! Think I gained 5lbs that night :(! Three bars running throughout the building, at least that’s what it was for this evening, I’m guessing from other reviews it may be a bit different on a regular night. Regardless, Clerys is worth checking out if you’re in Boston.

We came here for drinks. The bartender was very attentive and nice even during happy hour. The atmosphere is very clean and welcoming. We did not have any food but for drinks I would very much recommend it.

Came in here for lunch with my husband a while back and was not impressed. The restaurant was pretty empty except for us and a 6 top. The waitress spent her entire time flirting with the 6 business men while completely ignoring us. The food didn’t even make up for the awful service, it was overpriced and rather boring. I live very close to Clery’s so I was really hoping for a regular spot as it seems to always be crowded. But as I have learned people are going for the drinks, not the food.

Solid place to go for the weekend. Definitely got crowded at around 10pm(good luck getting a seat at the bar) but clears the hell out at around 1130 because apparently the downstairs turns into a club. Seriously. We were the only two people at the upstairs bar. The downstairs part is free though and you wait to get in inside so you don’t have to stand in the cold! Kind of awkward that the line wraps around the whole dining area though. Also we left at 1230, maybe later, and there were still people waiting online. Music was really good though(upstairs but I assume its the same downstairs) and the drinks are cheap! Gin and tonic and a sex on the beach for $ 7 each. Basically a beer, awesome. Kind of a bro and biddies scene though, if you’re into that.

I am not a bar-going type, so the fact that I liked Clerys at all is a minor miracle. The atmosphere was a step or two above that of your neighborhood bar, very clean and spacious and nicely appointed. The service was excellent even though we were there on a busy night. The food was delicious, too. Maybe it was because I have been dieting lately, and any food that isn’t celery would have tasted like mana from Heaven, but we got a huge appetizer platter that included stuffed baked potatoes, wings, bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, chicken tenders AND bratwurst on buns with peppers and onions, and it was all amazingly good. All was washed down with three Cosmos, and I was feeling pretty darn good(until the hangover the next day). I would definitely recommend Clerys if you are in the mood to be a little bad.

Went one time, food was excellent with a lot of different variations. I would like to thank the staff and management there. It’s a great bar, but I had an incident when another patron came up to me and slapped me drink out of my hand. He also started screaming racial slurs at me, but the staff and management was able to get rid of this patron and helped me feel the friendly environment. Huge thanks to Tim and the rest of the staff. The bar was a great atmosphere and friendly.

Clerys is a great spot to meet up with friends. It’s in a convenient location on Dartmouth. The reason it’s getting 3 stars: there is always a crazy long line and it takes a while to get served at the bar because it’s so crowded…

I usually give generous reviews but for today, I have to go along with the majority. The service at the bar was good, but the food service was slooooow. The burrito that I order was veggie burrito with chicken. I found chicken and bland rice inside the tortilla, but where are the veggies in this veggie burrito? This is the risk of dining at a place that is too convenient for most of the hotel guests to go any other place that is worth the extra 5 minutes of walking. A bit disappointed to be honest, but may come back again just for drinks and do some people some people watching.

Stopped in for a quick, late lunch. We ordered fish tacos and fish & chips. The cod used in both is delivered daily from Chatham and it was perfectly cooked. This is good pub grub and after 10pm the downstairs turns into a nightclub. Not a fancy place; the waiter was polite, efficient, friendly and according to my dining partner; cute too. The floor could use a sweep, and someone left their gum under the wood molding but otherwise it was neat and clean. The menu on the website is more extensive than the one we were offered and there are a number of daily specials and week day lunch specials plus a full bar. Leave the burger and get the cod.

Seriously? Did I really wait in line to relive my college frat hopping days? The entire experience was literally a parallel to a sad college frat party. 1) Wait in line to get into the downstairs dance floor of Clerys(the frat house). 2) Guy who’s standing near the entrance of the stairs tells you how many people he’ll let go downstairs(the poor soul who just crossed and was handed the duty of crowd control and making sure no undercover cops bust into the frat party). 3) You head down these dingy stairs that has a moose head or something mounted above it and realize you waited 30 minutes to enter a half empty dance floor. 4) Some random white dude is DJing on his Mac probably thinking he’s actually a DJ and there are shitty makeshift lasers shooting around for effect. 5) The dance floor is a disgusting hookup area with single guys on the prowl for some action. 6) At the end of the night when Clerys is closing they have the audacity to TURNONTHELIGHTS. Lord help me, in no way do I want to see what filth I’ve been stepping in the last two hours and in no way do I want to even see the faces of the people around me here. This was a frat party in bar form. I can’t even begin to imagine what this place is like during the school year. And what is up with everyone drinking Bud Light? What are we? Savages? At least get a Corona and act like you’re a decent human being. But I guess if you want to be a savage, Clerys is the place to do it.

Clerys is a very large place with a basement and private room. That being said, you can still barely find breathing room if you go around happy hour on a nice day. The bar food is actually not terrible, but it is what it is. Clerys was actually one of the first places I went out at when I moved to Boston. The place is serviceable and I’ll make my occasional visit, but there are better and less crowded places in the area.

Exploring the South End continues to be fun and Clerys was another spot that was on the list of places to check out. Came here with a larger group. The waitress was prompt and especially hospitable in dealing with such a great bunch of us. Was fantastic getting us our beers, my food order and even cashing us out one at a time. For food I had the short rib grilled cheese. I love how we have evolved from taking simple american dishes you learn when you are 8, slap the label«comfort food» on it, dress it up with high price ingredients and charge 5 – 8 times the price. Well, at Clerys, it works. The sandwich is juicy and delicious, the side of fries is a small, correct sized portion and perfectly crispy and the caramelized beer glazed onions are scrumptious. Everything you can wish you. On Wednesdays, Clerys hosts a trivia night, something I usually enjoy, however the acoustics are a bit overpowering. On a summer afternoon the windows are open which is great for a nice breeze. All in all a satisfying experience. Looking forward to more times at Clerys.

Pretty cool bar located right in the back bay. The service here is ok and leaves a little to be desired but they do have a pretty strong pour. Came here with a couple of friends late night and had a good time. Overall, a decent bar with a strong poor and average service. Pros– Bar Pours Location Cons– Service Crowded on weekends Pricey

I thought this was a really solid bar! Good crowd and overall good vibe for a Saturday night. Not too crowded either. I got the chance to taste some food items like the grilled BLT, Quesdilla, Guac/Chips and Caesar Salad. All decent for bar food!

I kind of don’t understand this bar. So first, there’s a long line to get into the venue. Then there’s another line, twice as long, to get into the basement… and the basement isn’t even that great… it’s super humid and gross in there with all the people…
