Chez Monique

I’ve been going here for about 3 or 4 years now and I’ve always been satisfied with the way my hair is done. The owners name is Monique, she’s a very nice lady. She did my hair a couple of times and I liked it. However I usually go to see Barbara she is really great at what she does. She has a steady clientele of people who come just to see her and we keep coming but just for her. They also have a little barber section in the front. I’m not sure of the name of the barber but he seems to be good, there’s always people waiting to get haircuts. My mom has been there many times and she says she likes it. Overall the price is reasonable and the people are nice.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been there, but I recently referred a friend there for a press and curl and her results (on shorter coarser hair) were gorgeous. They take very good care of your hair, use a flat iron for the most part instead of a traditional hot comb, and it will comb out sleek as silk.
I did find that my hair (which is think and was on the long side when I got it done there) smelled like smoke. Not preferred, but I never had a split end going there. Not one. Very healthy.
I’d highly recommend if you’re a press and curl girl, but a few things:
1. go with cash,
2. don’t bring your kids, (unless they’re getting their hair done)
3. its an orderly business with a caring owner/​hair dresser but she’s not «soft» so go with your game face and take care of your hair afterward (or you will hear about it) and
4. make an appointment and DEFINITELY don’t go late to your appointment.
You’ll be very happy with your hair. Very.
