Went with pulled pork and the Mac n cheese sandwiches. They were extremely good. It’s a clean spot and the service was fast. My only complaint? I wish they were bigger sandwiches. Could have easily eaten 1 and ½ of those. For dessert please try the smores.

Cheeseboy is one of my favorite things in Boston. I frequented their South Station location all throughout high school, and was happy to find out during that time that they opened a downtown location. The inside is always very clean and is a nice place to sit and eat. The staff is always very friendly — I love when someone says«good choice» after I order, makes me feel like I just made some important life-altering decision. Their grilled cheese is always spectacular, and it’s super cute how they give you a little chocolate mint with your order.

Cheeseboy is definitely one my go-tos when I’m sick of other sandwich shops and need something quick but delicious. I’ve been eating their grilled cheese and melts for years. They’re really consistent with their sandwiches and how crispy they make it. It’s perfectly crunchy with a great amount of butter flavor. Couple days ago I ordered the chicken bacon ranch melt with a broccoli cheddar soup. The melt was really flavorful and the soup was really good too(not too watery like other restaurants). The best thing was when I dipped the melt into the soup. I seriously could not get enough of that. I highly recommend trying that combo. Think grilled cheese with tomato soup is a great combo? Well, this is even better :)

Great idea, so-so in execution. The grilled cheeses are more like a panini in my opinion. I found mine to be a little watery and bland. The bacon also wasn’t particularly crispy. This isn’t to say that it isn’t worth a try, just could be better.

I was offered a coupon for a free sandwich and tried the Tomato/Basil. It was quite tasty. I still think Cheeseboy’s simpler sandwiches are a bit pricey, but if I’m ever in the mood for a grilled cheese this place is a reliable option.

I didn’t know this place even existed. So I go in and apparently it’s a «comfort food» joint with a focus on cheese. I ordered the pulled pork melt, it’s a flatbread. Delish!!!

I’ve came multiple times and I only order the chipotle chicken and I love it so much that I’ve never ordered anything else.

Cheeseboy is a great comfort food option for those who are looking for that homey and easy brunch/lunch. Cheeseboy brings delectable, traditional sandwich shops back to life. Their sandwiches just melt in your mouth and leave a tasty impression of cheesy goodness. I opted for the small buffalo chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint, leaving me yearning for the larger size next time. Overall, it’s a great place for a quick bite on a busy weekday or to sit down on a Sunday morning brunch. Advice: get the larger size

Ehn. I wasn’t impressed. I got the mac and cheese grilled cheese and it wasn’t particularly flavorful. Lots of salty mac and cheese. I wish that they had added just a bit of interesting SOMETHING into it. Besides this though, it wasn’t bad for a chain restaurant. It certainly was better than a lot of chains. Their sides are good and solid, especially the soups and salads. As long as you don’t expect amazing results, this place is a reasonable stop. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The two women behind the counter were chatty and I loved to stop and talk with them. Thank you for taking the time!

LOVE the Veggie Melt. Always hits the spot for me when I get it. Service here is quick and friendly. I have never regretted coming here for my lunch break and it is not something I normally choose, but sometimes I gotta just go for it. The set up is a little strange and sometimes people seem confused as in where to wait and where to order but you can figure it out pretty quick. Now that I see there are breakfast reviews, maybe I will try someday.

5 stars for the food but dropped a star because of the service. Food is great! It was a little chilly in Boston so I already had some soup and wanted a grilled cheese with it. I found Cheeseboy and ordered a chicken bacon ranch with the ranch dressing on the side. It was delicious but not a place I would crave and come back to again. Loads of options and they even have a few dessert sandwiches!

Okay, time to report back on breakfast! *** 8⁄2015 Breakfast #1 *** Cheeseboy’s new breakfast selection has a line up of hot sandwiches made fresh, pastries in a clear acrylic cupboard for grab and go, and in the refrigerated case, your fruity options, namely, yogurt parfait(blueberry or strawberry), kefir with passionfruit(a yogurt drink for those of you who are not in the know), fruit cup, and fresh squeezed orange juice. I attempted to be adventurous, and opted for the passion fruit kefir $ 3.89, and a pastry — lemon crème fan danish $ 2.99. The kefir, I shook up, and drank with a straw. For those not as familiar with the fruit, it was a bit strong, and I was initially taken aback. But as I downed the rest over the morning, I got more used to the flavor, though it isn’t my favorite. The breakfast pastry I forgot till dinner time. By then, the pastry itself was no longer crisp, but the flavor was still nice. *** 8⁄2015 Breakfast #2 *** They had a lady with a tray of pastry samples standing outside, so I was able to sample both their Apple Crown Danish and their chocolate croissant. Both crisp with tasty fillings. Inside, I ordered up one of their breakfast sandwiches — the Farmhouse Melt $ 4.49 cage-free egg, farm co-op American, baby spinach, and tomato on a breakfast artisan white or multigrain, and a fresh OJ $ 2.99. I went white on the bread, and my breakfast was served in one of those smaller square boxes in which come their«Littles.» The juice was cool and great, light on the pulp. The sandwich seemed small in comparison to their regular sized sandwiches I normally get, but in comparison to a biscuit sandwich you can get at Mickie D’s, about right for breakfast. I can’t believe I’m going to say it, but there was too much cheese in the breakfast sandwich. I couldn’t taste much the rest of the ingredients — that being the egg(which looked real!), tomato and spinach. In fact, said ingredients took to slipping and sliding from betwix the bread on its very own cheesey slip and slide! *** 10⁄2015 *** The Cheeseboy Gobbler was back, so I had to have it. I never understood why this Thanksgiving in a sandwich was available in October rather than November, but it is what it is. Somehow it wasn’t nearly as fantastic as I remembered. Maybe it needed more cranberry sauce and a thinner layer of the stuffing? I added a side Goat Cheese Greens salad(crumbled goat cheese, candied walnuts, and cranberries on fresh field greens) $ 4.19 to my Original sized Gobbler $ 8.29 for $ 2.79 as a Combo. It was pretty good with a generous portion of the crunchy fruity toppers. The tasty raspberry vinaigrette dressing provided was plenty unless you happen to be a salad drencher. *** 4⁄2016 *** The Pulled Pork Melt $ 6.29/$ 8.29 pulled pork, cheddar, roasted red peppers, red onion, bacon jam, bbq sauce, and mayo on artisan white was good, but the meat seemed wary of approaching the borders of the bread for fear that it would fall, which made for several less satisfying bites of just bread and cheese.

Love the bread but the portion is too small and very pricey. I tried their steak and egg sandwich for breakfast this morning. The bread and egg was very good but the steak tastes weIrd. It tastes very rubber and artificial. Their bread are about the size of Wonder Bread. The drinks are also very expensive. Their menu have a wide selection of sandwich to choose from but it very expensive compare to other fast food restaurant. I could finish their sandwich in three bites and still feel very hungry. The services was fairly fast and the staffs here are pretty friendly. The restaurant are very clean and well lite. If you going to have a meal here be prepares to spend three time the price of other restaurants to get full here. The sandwich could be a quick snack but not something that would make you go full for lunch or dinner.

Good service, friendly staff, a-ok food. Nothing super special though. However, prices are fair and the location is good. Sandwiches are a little barebones, save for the cheese — which I don’t want my sandwich swimming in.

Four stars for a chain. Only if well-deserved. Cheeseboy has a simply mission statement and they execute. Their sandwiches, which hover somewhere between a «light weight panini» and a «bulky grilled cheese,» are creative, nicely assembled and not terribly overpriced. At this location, the service was friendly and the kitchen was quick. Bonus!

Never ate at Cheeseboys because they are not in Virginia! While in Boston visiting the sites decided to try this place! Loved the sandwiches here and the grilled cheese effect was awesome! The food was cooked fresh and comes in a cool cardboard box! Recommend for sure and wish the chain would come to Virginia

Great hot sandwich place. I especially like the harvest turkey. Very friendly service and decent amount of seating. NOWIFI made it significantly less desirable than the one in the food court at the Prudential center mall, however the quality of the food is consistent, which is what really counts(mostly). Located very close to the State St blue/orange line stop and the Downtown Crossing orange line stop makes it convenient for a lot of people passing through. Because you’re eating pretty much just bread and cheese, prepare for the itis to settle in with your sandwich. Edit: Took out the bathroom bit because of my mistake. This helped to move it up to 4 stars.

The management at Cheeseboy was nice enough to read my first review and send me a gift card to come back and try their food again. I will say that the customer service the second time around was significantly improved. This time I had the chicken bacon melt. Again, I just wasn’t impressed with the sandwich. There were many different ingredients and heaping portions of everything. This sandwich also just lacked flavor for me. Not to mention a piece of the chicken that I had had a bone in it. In my opinion, Cheeseboy is just an ok lunch option. If you want a good grilled cheese, I would recommend Archie’s.

Really mediocre grilled cheese AND tomato soup. GRILLEDCHEESE Mac ‘N Melt: I got the little size, and they really did skimp on the ingredients for the size. There was barely any mac and cheese, and the bacon only filled the middle of the sandwich. The sandwich was as thin as a Kraft mac-and-cheese sandwich in the commercials, without the oozing of cheese. I will say that the grilled cheese was perfectly crispy from the panini press and I loved the crunchiness with every bite. TOMATOSOUP I was so disappointed. It was 30 degrees outside, and I really wanted a warm soup to sooth my soul. The soup was very watery. I would’ve liked to have a thick, hearty, flavorful tomato soup with my grilled cheese. For around $ 8, the meal wasn’t bad, but it was nothing to return for.
