My stylist — Charles, was AMAZING. He gave me a very thorough trim using the dry method — straightening your hair with an iron & then snipping. Thought that was interesting. My hair felt a lot fuller and thicker after trimmed.
I wanted my blowout to stay in place because tonight I’ll be flying to Vegas – I requested extra hair spray, but Charles went above and beyond and clipped my hair up for me so that after my flight, my blowout will still be intact when I take off the clips. Thanks so much!!! I’ll be back.

I recently started highlighting my hair and decided to give Che Maksou a try after reading great reviews. And the reviews lived up their word — I LOVE the color and cut Jenna gives! She’s exceptionally talented in both areas, and gives a «dry» haircut, which I was skeptical of at first, but now absolutely love. I would definitely recommend Jenna to anyone that’s looking for a great cut and color.

CAME to Boston for a wedding, needed a last minute hair cut, the person at our hotel called these people for me. The moment I walked in the aura and feel of the place was so OPEN & Inviting. the staff was very generous and friendly, and my HAIR went from 0 to 1000. Got my hair done by «Jacqueline Che» who was just so amazing, damn talented and down to earth. Highly RECOMMEND her.

I have been going to Jenna for years and she is the best. She listens to exactly what I want and has done some really great things with my hair — we have evolved my hair from light to dark, long to short. we even tried ombré, balayage and a loose wave perm for color treated hair. She has a wonderful talent and artistic eye — always come out of the salon feeling amazing and get compliments from friends. Have sent many friends over to her who have become loyal clients as well. She has tons of knowledge and explains some of her process for balayage which I found interesting and she stays on top of current trends/​goes to training which translates to her final product. Her personality is great too– puts you at ease immediately. Highly recommend Jenna at Che Maksou!

Absolutely love Jenna and her #HairWizard skills! I moved to the Boston area from Canada and didn’t know where to start looking for a new hair stylist. A friend recommended Jenna and I’m so glad they did! I needed to feel confident in my stylist because I had just started bleaching my hair platinum blonde about a year before and I wanted the colour and style to stay consistent. Jenna was so accommodating and easy to work with, I felt instantly at ease in her chair. She styled my hair for my wedding and has helped me develop longer styles when I decided to grow my hair out. I can’t recommend her enough. You will be more than satisfied with Jenna’s work, I guarantee it!

Edna is really a life saver!
I moved to boston and really had not nailed down a new colorist in the area.
My first attempt at another salon left me with something I definitely didnt ask for, when I explained what I wanted to Edna she went above and beyond to make my vision work. She insists on a consultation and I got to know me before she started.
The salon is modern, clean, and friendly.
Cant wait to make my next appointment!

First time at this salon and I am very impressed. I have naturally curly thick hair that many stylist have difficulty cutting. I went to Jacqui for a dry cut and she understood what I wanted and delivered! Not only was I highly satisfied with the dry cut, but the salon itself is very nice and clean. Furthermore, the receptionist was very friendly and professional. This place is a 5 star all around.

I’ve been to Che Maksou four times (three haircuts and one iron work/​curls). The salon is beautiful, and the service is excellent.
I have had both Charles and Jenna for dry cuts. Both are fantastic and make you feel like a star. They are energetic, friendly, professional. Charles’ cuts are mores expensive, however, as he is the owner. Comparing Charles and Jenna, I would choose Jenna again only because her cuts are less expensive. Notwithstanding, they are both great stylists, and I have been very happy with both. The only minor criticism I have is that they tend to use a lot of products to style your hair unless you ask them not to (which they are happy to accommodate — you just have to make sure to ask beforehand).
I also had iron work done once by Edna. I attended a formal event and wanted to have my hair professionally curled. Edna was very personable and did a great job. She curled all of my hair in fifteen minutes, and the style lasted well into the evening and even the next day. I was a bit shocked at how much it cost ($ 40 + tip just to curl hair), but I was happy with the result and felt that it was worth it for a special occasion.
I look forward to continuing to get my hair done at Che Maksou and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and creative salon with terrific service.

Chris was amazing and I love my haircut so the price is the only reason why I’m not giving Che Maksou five stars. I had been seeing the same stylist for years, but I recently cut my hair short and decided to try a new salon. Chris did was very precise and took his time. He gave me exactly what I wanted while putting his creative spin on it.
I’m planning on dying my hair soon and Chris and I talked about some potential colors. I want to go back to Che Maksou, but I’m not sure if I want to spend so much. My other stylist does a great job for less, but when I want to spoil myself I will be back.

I was sick of my hairstyle so I decided to make a haircut/​balayage appointment at Che Maksou due to their positive reviews and convenient location to my workplace. I am a super pale Asian woman and didn’t want to get anything drastic (read: blonde hair) as that would wash me out. I told Charles this, and he heard me loud and clear. Throughout the appointment, he offered tips and tricks on how to style and dry my hair at home and spoke about his vast experience styling actors and models across the globe. Our appointment went past closing time, but I never felt like I was being rushed out the door.
My only regret is not stating that I wanted my hair to be a bit lighter that it is right now; the brown hue is only noticeable in the bright sunlight. However, that doesn’t deter me from wanting to go back to Che Maksou next time.
For those wondering how much a haircut/​balayage costs here (website states «upon consultation»), mine was around $ 350, with tip included. Tip must be either in a check form or cash.

Charles gave my straight hair beautiful dimension and movement by using his dry cutting technique. He knew what framed my face the best and was very detail-​oriented. He went above and beyond to make sure I walked out looking and feeling great. After a couple of weeks after the cut, I’m still happy. I highly recommend Charles.

Came in on a Saturday morning. It’s been a couple of weeks since my cut, and I have to say my hair is lighter and quicker to style.
Place was full, nice ambiance. Edna did a dry cut, kept most of my length and really did a great job fixing the shape. Nice wash and condition after the dry cut, then touch ups and styling afterward. Edna was thorough, service oriented and friendly. Great cut. Thank you Edna!

Awesome cut with Jenna! My last stylist moved back to NYC so I was a «free agent.» I tried Che Maksou on a whim (with a Gilt City voucher) and picked Jenna based off the reviews I read. I’m so, so glad I went with her. Will definitely be back.

EDNA IS AMAZING!
I’ve been searching for a new hairdresser for awhile, and was very curious to try balayage. A friend recommended Che Maksou, and I couldn’t be happier! My work schedule can be hectic, and Edna took me last minute. She patiently explained the balayage process, how she would apply the color to prevent breakage, and how she would decide where to place the lighter shades. Before she started, she gave me a dry cut that was so well done, my hair looked like it had received a blow out.
The end result of Edna’s balayage was transformative! I’ve been highlighting my hair for years, and this is by far the best color I’ve ever received. In retrospect, I shouldn’t be surprised — Edna is supremely talented (and her clientele is impressive — She once did Nicole Scherzinger’s hair).
Not only does my hair look beautiful (I’ve been receiving compliments all day!), Edna went to the bother to stay far past closing time to make sure everything was perfect. She’s dedicated to her clients, and I’m so happy to have found her.

The cut was a dry cut, which I had never experienced before. It was cool to see my hair being transformed into a long bob since I got 80% taken off. Usually I would’ve had to wait until the end to see the result. The stylist was chatty and made me feel comfortable with the big change in length and style and she did an amazing job. She took her time and explained everything she was doing. Another plus, she didn’t push products for sale like other salons tend to.
Next time I need a cut I’ll be coming back here! It’s well worth the full price for a nice do.

Jenna. 100%. Never been hit on as much as much as I was when I walked out from my appointment. She’s a magician with hair and make-​up. Two weeks later and my hair still looks like I just walked out of the salon. She pointed out all the odd layers I had going on and was able to completely reshape my hair in a way that still kept it long and framed my face, but got rid of the awkward angles. Never going to anyone else!

This review is for color with Charles.
There was a Gilt voucher for a balayage or ombré so I bought it after reading all the Unilocal reviews. I was due for a color anyway. Upon arrival, the space looks nice and tidy. I was greeted by Charles whom didn’t ask me much about what I was there for. He examined my hair and suggested that I get a cut (he was very convincing but I just had my haircut so I opted out). Hence, he’s known for his «dry» cut which I get to witness from the girl next to me. She came in for a blow dry but ended up getting a cut from him. This man is quiet convincing.
Back to my story, I told him I wanted a balayage and showed him plenty of pics as examples. He just did what he wanted and it ended up being more like baby lights. I don’t doubt his talent but I question his ability to actually listen to me. By the time it was finished, it was already 8PM so I just quickly rushed out. It didn’t come out bad but it wasn’t up to par in my expectation for a high end salon.
The other ladies that had their hair colored walked out with pretty nice colors so maybe Charles should just be for cuts and colors I suggest someone else.

Just got a great hair cut from Charles. I normally go to a barber shop, but after today’s haircut I definitely think Ill be going to this Salon more often.

I got a haircut with Charles and haven’t been this happy with my hair in a long time. After moving from Miami, I’ve been looking for a stylist for three years and may have found the one.
Charles uses a dry cut method and more importantly, listens to what you want while offering his own advice about how to best cut your hair to complement your facial features. Like others said, he shows you how to style at home in order to achieve that «just walked out of the salon» look, which is great!
It did seem like they were very busy and a bit behind, but definitely worth it and they made it work. I’ll be going for an Ombré in a couple of weeks based on the positive reviews for color. I’m excited!
