Since I study in downtown Boston, I’ve been here several times. This is the first time I consider never come again because of the poor service and long wait. I came with two friends last week, and we waited for about twenty minutes when we said we were ready to order. We ordered seven dim sum plates in total, but we only got five. We asked the server to check the dish for us because we thought it didn’t take too much time for the chef to prepare two small plates. But the server replied that our dishes were all set because it’s after 7pm and they weren’t serving dim sum then(but we ordered before 7pm, so it shouldn’t be our problem). We didn’t want to order another plate anymore, so we asked the server to give us the check, and cancel the plates that never came. However, I checked our bill and saw that two plates were still on the list. I told the server that he didn’t cancel what didn’t come, and he double charge the radish cake(we only ordered one radish cake instead of two, and not until we pointed out the plate on our table did he believe us). Then we waited another 10 minutes for him to adjust our bill. Then I looked around the restaurant, it was Friday night and the tables were about 80% full, but there were only 3 or 4 servers! No wonder everyone seemed to wait for so long and the servers were faceless! The boss should hire more employees and manage the logistics properly. I won’t come again for a while because there are many choices nearby and the service was too poor(the food was good though).

I like this place! Food was delicious dim sum super-ultra-cheap, my Cantonese teacher took our class there and I finally tried the dreaded chicken feet(still not a fan)! Crowded but waiters are attentive, service is fast and the food is quite good. For 3 people we paid I think around 20 $ with tip. I’d like to have a wider selection of tea(like Nom Wah in NYC) but the kitchey décor ala bamboo world/South China Sea adds to the fun of hanging out there. A great place to take a big group. Not sure how authentic the place is for my real old-school Chinese food but it’s fun and cheap and right there so good in a pinch Hou Sik!

Met my family here for Dim Sum over Memorial Day Weekend. Food was good and fresh. We found the Pai Guat and chicken feet to be a little salty, and the Beef Chieng foon to be tasteless but the rest of the food was not too bad. All in all I would return.

My family of 3 came here for dim sum and waited for 20 minutes while five parties that came after us, both larger and smaller, were seated before us. Also, some people that were seated at smaller tables decided to switch/combine tables for more room and although the hostess went over to them, ultimately let the guests do whatever they wanted. After another group of 5 teens got seated while we waited, I had enough and confronted the hostess. She indicated that the table they just cleaned seated six people and we had three. Really?!? There was a group of two there right before the teens got seated. I left extremely pissed off and went to Chau Chau instead. Had heard the dim sum was good but with customer service that poor, it doesn’t matter; you can find other decent dim sum places nearby.

The food here is quite poor, and the service is just fine. I had a stomach ache after eating there, which rarely happens to me.

We don’t usually write reviews but I felt we had to write this one. We were walking around Boston and it was freezing so we walked into this restaurant. We were greeted promptly and ordered two items off the menu and also ordered rice. The waiter told us we probably didn’t need the rice because the portions are large and that he would bring it later if we still wanted it. Needless to say, the portions were very generous and the food was quite tasty. We had a wonderful vegetable chow fun as well as grilled tofu with vegetables. Definitely a really cool hole in the wall type place.

This really is one of my favorite dim sum places in Chinatown. The wait is never long and I like the ordering through a picture menu concept. Wait staff is usually attentive and easy to flag down. Food is always warm and fresh, not too greasy or salty, very authentic. BUT, every single time I come here the pineapple pork buns are never available. I feel like there’s always an excuse, they run out if you come later, they don’t have any that day, and today I was told it would take a really long time if I wanted them. it was 10 am, how long are we talking about? Ah! Just take them off the menu if they’re never available, stop teasing me! It’s a unique item though, no other place has it and they should have it more readily available, could be a hot commodity.

Pros: Food was delicious! The dim sum here is also very tasteful. My family and I came here after the Celtics game and we had a great experience with food! The salty fish fried rice was Devine it reminded me of my motherlands comfort food. Along side with the peapod stem(who can mess that up) the ginger and scallion lobster which was very flavorful and lightly coated to perfection, the peppery fried calamari which was also very tasteful and crunchy and the Prime rib Hong Kong steak which was cooked to the perfect temperature server on a bed of Chinese broccoli(not pictured). For dimsum we had the eggplant with shrimp and a couple different ravioli’s which tasted very fresh and flavorful. Cons: Service can be slow. #1 critic is the bathroom is absolutely disgusting and reek of urine!(Both men and women) Also the resturaunt seemed very clustered with random things laying around. Only critic for food is we ordered an entrée called«fillet steak Cantonese style» and it was extremely salty and un eatable.

Been here for dinner a few times now and never has it failed. We do the typical family style dinners and the dishes we got have been so unique. For example: crab steamed on top of sticky rice. Or, dried meat and mushroom in between chicken. Everything is really good and they never rush you to leave. Quick and friendly service.

Not impressed. Should have waited for Great Taste a couple doors down. Half of their menu for dimsum was unavailable during our visit. What was available was borderline tasteless. No to go cups for our smoothies.

My first choice wasn’t happening so back tracked a bit after seeing a mention or 2 of this place. Any time you do sum sum during the week, at any restaurant that offers it, it can be more ‘miss’ than ‘hit,’ but when you can’t get dim sum otherwise(at home), you take what you can get. Upon entering, I immediately noticed I was the only gringo in the place = great sign. Solid. Food came out piping hot, and had great flavor, and size… usually such places can skimp on piece sizes but anything I ordered was ample. Even with a packed house, anything I ordered came out quickly… and they offer a ton of chili flake oil, which other places alike can skimp on. Great food for the $ too. I also caught some looks from a larger table of diners next to me from the amount of food a single person was ordering and eating…‘fat white boy’ was probably whispered in Mandarin a few times!

Surprisingly good dim sum place. My wife and I walked past this place and saw a lot of people in it at around 12:30pm on Christmas Eve. Since we did not find a better dim sum house in Boston, we said why not give it a try. It turned out to be a very good experience. Taste fresh, not too salty. Best of all, my son loves the seafood rise soup.

The food is great. Clean restaurant with fast-paced, friendly waitresses. I recommend chicken feet in black bean sauce.

This review is of the weekend dimsum. Not good. The quality, flavors, and presentation here are just not good. The preserved egg and pork congee literally had one tiny piece of egg in it. I am not exaggerating. There were maybe two chunks of old tasting, chewy pork. The spareribs in black bean sauce were okay, about one third of the dish was pure gristle and fat. The shumai looked questionable and old, had some crunchy bits on/in it that certainly weren’t normal or good. The har cheong was slapped on the plate and had a not so fresh flavor. The char siew bao tasted like microwaveable frozen buns from a package. The lotus seed paste buns tasted just artificial and disgusting. Overall a poor dining experience, only enhanced by the one, upside down, semi-dead fish floating in the aquarium. Wouldn’t want to eat that thing. I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Not very good service. Szechuan beef was OK, but the Pad Thai was tasteless.

Usually for dimsum, I’d go to either Hei La Moon or Windsor but after discovering this place, I think I’d probably return here for the Cantonese treats! Pluses: — Wide arrange of dimsum items(fills up both sides of a page) — Freshly cooked — very good prices: we had 5 dishes and the total came out to be $ 21 — a wide array of rice noodle dishes Minuses: — this might not be a minus but it is waiter service as oppose to the push carts — the smell is maybe a little off in the restaurant but that might have been the day — the chicken feet isn’t as «meaty» but still flavorful

This place is quite solid. They dish out Very consistently good food. Plus I do like the ambiance which is quite unlike China Town. Much more lighting, very old school décor, quite a few different kinds of seating options, less noisy. Very few places in China Town meet those simple requirements of a simple dining experience with a touch of sophistication. We were in the mood for noodles. So we stayed with 2 straight forward options. Both were quite different yet very good. First was Singapore Rice noodles. I totally love rice noodles. And the Singapore style is probably on my top 5 favorites list. This preparation was done right. Not oily at all, the combination of spices was near perfection. Predominent were the flavors of Turmeric and Cinnamon, and possibly chinese five spices. The dish was not overpowered with an excess of anything. A good balance of proteins in the form of sauteed shrimp and strips of pork, and some fried egg. Onions, red and green peppers rounded up the veggies. Very satisfying dish indeed. Next was a very contrasting Seafood Egg noodles dish with the XO sauce. Now I honestly don’t know what does XO sauce consists of, but it has a very complex set of flavors — in a very good way. My guess would be a concoction of soy sauce, fish sauce, and much more. The dish had a kick since we asked for spicy. The egg noodles were soft and very well cooked. The pieces of sea food were abundant but like the rice noodle dish, not overpowering and overtaking from the flavors of the XO sauce. Yet, everything was fresh and tasted yummy! The host, and our waiter — both were really nice. They were around to check if everything was good and if we needed anything specific or had any questions. The place was quite full by the time we were ready to leave. And a very mixed crowd enjoying their meals. This place absolutely has the potential to be one of my favorites in China Town.

This is my favorite take out place. Whenever I am feeling a lazy to cook at home, this is the place that comes to mind to order take out! I like how the menu is has many options. I can order dim sum or Chinese food, depending on what I am craving. My favorite to go dish is the ginger and scallion twin lobsters! The lobster is fresh and delicious. When lobster is in season you can get it for a pretty good price. The seasoning is well balanced and it goes well with rice. I like how they serve dim sum the whole day. The menu is a little more limited at night but you can get the usual dishes. It is enough to satisfy my cravings. The service here is also really good. The staff is really courteous. Everyone is attentive. Whether you are dining in or ordering to go, they try their best to accommodate you.

I’ve been coming to Bubor for years and the food was ALWAYSPHENOMENAL. The service was always terrible but what they lack in service they made up for in cuisine. Unfortunately, over the years there has been a decline in food quality. Close your eyes and imagine — cue dreamy harp music You walk in and see scores of food paraded to tables. Your nose is tickled with delight from the wonderful aromas and spices. You haven’t checked the menu yet, but you’re already sure of what you want. A dish from the couple at table 3. Two dishes from the family of eight that seems to have ordered half the menu. Oooh perhaps that dish from the guy eating alone near the window. And whatever the waitress us carrying out from the kitchen right now! They all look splendid! After taking your seat and sipping hot tea you wait 15 minutes for someone to come over so you can place your order. Surprisingly, the food comes quickly. One after the other. Your meal consists of: Hot & Sour Soup, Ginger & Scallion Lobster, Vegetable Lo Mein, Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp & Vegetables, half Roast Duck, and baked custard buns for dessert! Before I continue, I must say the duck(despite the decline of other dishes) is always perfect and never fatty/greasy. The other dishes leave a bit to be desired. One of the reasons I initially fell in love with BCC is its H&S soup. For years it’s been my go-to place, however, I think the restaurant has changed cooks bcz there was cilantro on my soup as a garnish. I despise cilantro. It tastes awkward and it ruined the soup. Oh well, there were still plenty of other choices, right? Not exactly… The Lo Mein was so oily that my lips were shiny. It’s as if they wanted to kill two birds with one stone by creating a lip gloss meal. That seemed to be the theme for the lobster and shrimp dish as well. The only thing that wasn’t, surprisingly, was the duck(and the buns, of course). Setting aside my disappointment with service and the liberal oil use in the kitchen. Bubor will always have a special place in my heart with its duck and H&S soup(I’ll just tell thm to hold the cilantro henceforth).
