Apparently they have expanded their croissant offerings recently. There are a lot of croissants to choose from. I’ve never seen such a large regular butter croissant before in my life! I opted for the Queen’s pastry $ 3.95 — looks like the middle round circular section of a cinnamon bun. It’s a very interesting mix of a croissant texture inside with the exterior of a sticky bun. It’s a sweet croissant but not overkill as the buttery flavour balances that out. Service was nice and helpful. Lots of seating in this nice sunny location on Cross Street.

Best croissant of my life. Really. I’m still dreaming about it. It was half sourdough, half flaky pasty. I will go back. And until I go back, I will dream about this croissant. (Also — their sandwiches and salads are pretty good. Not to the level of their croissants, but good).

New Croissant line is amazing! Fresh baked each day, these will sell out for sure! Specially with some of the killer flavors they have! Chocolate peanut butter cup was awesome followed by the cheesecake croissant! That’s right cheesecake croissant who knew that existed! Boston Crème is next on my list, they had already sold through them, will need to get there earlier! Great bakery for sure, totally worth making a trip for!

Some one called in sick and the pastries«sneeze guard» doesn’t really guard the food. The vanilla latte came sweetened which I appreciate. Was pretty good! Yum! I bought my husband a chocolate cookie, the cashier thought that meant chocolate chip… We had to walk over and point out that they actually serve a chocolate cookie right next to the chocolate chip cookie. Not a big deal. The bathroom keys for the girls and the boys are the same and a lady thought she would be clever and come into the men’s bathroom. That was the worst experience I had and I was not happy about that at all. So if you go I to the bathroom… Grab both keys. Who cares! Make the others wait! At least then you don’t have to allow someone to walk in on you doing your natures business! Barista was nice and quick. :). Probably won’t be back though unless I am in little Italy. If I needed to run somewhere for a restroom, this would be the place.

A sandwich contains stuff between the bread. Bread is something that is not a sandwich. My roast turkey on a baguette was closer to bread than sandwich. Wish it had more stuff on it. Sigh.

I somewhat enjoyed the atmosphere at B&B: open space, modern look, plenty of tables. On the other hand, the environment was quite dirty with dust build up, dirty floors, sticky tables, and discolored dirty white chairs. The customer service was not on point, yet I believe it was because our cashier was in training. The man that appeared to be the manager carried on a conversation with a customer for far too long before greeting us, and seemed frustrated and annoyed by the cashier who kept messing up our simple order. The food was slightly tasty. Breakfast sandwiches on hot buttery bread, a delicious red pepper sauce, and fresh cheese and eggs. My only complaint with the food is that there was way too much egg, which dulled down the flavors of the meat, cheese, and spread. I probably won’t go back, as there are plenty of better breakfast options in the neighborhood.

Cute little coffee shop in prime time real estate of North End. I loved sitting on the far right near the Salem St side to people watch. The staff was more than friendly and helpful; but the food was nothing special. I got the Kale & Farro salad and got chicken salad added. The chicken salad was so dry and barely had flavor. I though a lemon mustard vinaigrette would help balance the blandness. Nope. I was really unimpressed, particularly because I love their Queen’s pastry. I will have to stick to coffee and a pastry next time I come in.

Decent coffee shop and bakery in the North End. Nothing wrong with anything I had but nothing particularly memorable either. I did notice that it did seem like they have a lot of wasted counter space. They could have had more options I guess. If you are in the area though this is a safe place for coffee and pastries.

Friendly service and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Had an iced coffee and it was pretty watered down and bland… Baked goods are yummy though! Had a couple different macarons, all perfectly made and not too sweet. And some cookies. Definitely recommend the double chocolate, just wish it was soft and chewy though.

Well, Bread and Butter takes the cake for my favorite bathrooms in Boston — there are cows painted all over the walls! I really only came in for a chai and the chance to relax and read. The chai was surprisingly good, considering that their«We Now Serve Chais!» sign had me worried. You can actually taste the spices and it’s just the right amount of sweet. The sandwiches and pastries looked good, but I can’t comment there. The design is cool, but the combination of music and staff/fellow customers talking made it not very conducive to reading. Also kind of annoyed that when I asked for the WiFi password, the barista told me to just use the Greenway’s, which incidentally, doesn’t work. What is is it with Boston cafes and not offering WiFi? I swear, it’s something about this city. But, at the end of the day, the bathrooms still put a smile on my face.

Nice little find in North End, that is not your typical North End. Stopped here on a Sister day for lunch based on Unilocal reviews. It’s a bit more modern than I had expected — I thought it would be a bit more couchy comfortable as opposed to sleek tables, but it was still comfortable. Good coffee drink selection — though lacking a bit on the teas(just one flavor?). For lunch, I had the pear and brie salad. It was tasty and fresh, on a nice whole grain bread. Definitly a low-guilt lunch choice. They also have a water fountain(much like an office one) that is very convenient to have some water while you eat, and to fill your bottle before you head back out for the day.

Such promise, but could have been even better. We tried: — Breakfast sandwich: looked and smelled amazing, with thick brioche roll and an equally thick block of egg. However, both turned out to be dense and creamy, which made the whole sandwich very dry. Still liked the roasted pepper spread, but more of it may have helped moisten the sandwich a bit perhaps? Missed opportunity, in our opinion. — Queen’s pastry: A surprise find that was absolutely delicious. Tasted like bread and butter putting. oh wait, maybe that’s what it is? Not sure, but it tastes amazing. Staff at the counter seemed a little too eager when we were browsing their sweets. I hope they’re still around if we ever go back to Boston!

In a part of Boston dominated by Italian bakeries, this spot is a bit of an aberration. Has it found a gold mine of North End folks that want refined breakfast baked goods in the morning? Will this allow the bakery to make money by just being one of the only places around of this type and selling mediocre stuff? I visited after some work at Government Center, and noticed the entrance was a bit small and secluded. The front of the store consisted of outdoor seating that’s slightly blocked off from the street. I waited at the counter where all the baked goods were displayed. The lady decided not to get me, the first person in line, but rather, someone else that came after me. This irked a lady behind me and walked out the door. A man eventually attended to me and gave me a bit of an apology. So yeah, service here is lackluster. I went for the Queen’s Pastry, which is supposed to be a sweet/salty morning bun. The back of my jaw started to stiffen upon trying said baked good. My brain was confused and annoyed. The pastry was much too salty and unappetizing. I actually didn’t even finish it, which is a rarity for me(thanks, Mom). There’s a reason why a lot of morning breakfast treats aren’t sweet and salty. The Queen’s Pastry, which I can’t find elsewhere online, appears to be a pretentious creation by this spot. The thing that saved this place from a 1-star was the sticky bun. The bun was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. It wasn’t too sweet and had a decent amount of nuts. It’s a reasonably good bun. Given my general displeasure with this bakery, I would much rather find my way to Flour and back to Joanne Chang’s warm embrace… I mean… buns…I mean… errrrrr… *attempting to remove foot from mouth* :-P

I came here a ton when I was living in the North End on my way to work. I love George Howell coffee, so it’s a good break from Thinking Cup’s Stumptown. It’s nice that a place in the North End finally opened up for the non-tourists of the community. There are a ton of yuppies here, so I’m surprised that it took so long to get a place like Bread + Butter situated in the North End! The brioche breakfast sandwich is on the heavy side, but it’s a nice deviant away from the norm if ABP just isn’t cutting it. The croissants here are to die for. Chocolate if you’re feeling something sweet, and Ham + Cheese if you want something savory. I once bought a bag of every croissant just for myself. That’s how good they were, or that’s how hungry I was.

THE. ALMOND. CROISSANT… NOMNOMNOM. Flaky, buttery, filled with marzipan. I took away one star because of the sour iced coffee.

I came here the other night to get something to eat. I ordered their roast beef sandwich. I suggest to not order the sandwich with french baguette because it was rock hard. I felt like I was going to pull my teeth off every time I was taking a bite of the sandwich. However, the sandwich was still pretty good, I just chose the wrong choice of bread. My friend got the salad with grilled chicken and he thought it was good. Overall, the prices are reasonable. The staff at bread+butter are friendly as well. I liked their outdoor seating and the décor of the restaurant. I will come back to try their pastries and coffee another time! I recommend trying this place if you haven’t already!

I LOVEIT!!! Delicious food, fast and friendly service Came in for a salad. Walked out with a chopped cob salad, a pecan roll and a latte. My salad was fresh and tasty… generous amount of avocado and chicken. Pecan roll was absolutely delicious. I came back the next day for more pecan rolls, pastries and coffee. This is an awesome place to meet up for a quick bite.

It’s a perfect to go spot for an early morning breakfast, to grab a coffee and scone with a friend, or to just quickly stop and pick up something to go while passing through Boston on 93N. The location couldn’t be better if you are driving through Boston. Take Exit 23 for Government Center and park right in front of Bread + Butter… there is free short term parking. Grab your goods… and you’ll be back on the highway in 3 minutes. It’s worth the stop! One of my favorites is their chocolate croissant handmade fresh daily; every bite is crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with delicious dark chocolate. The Bread + Butter team are friendly, professional, and quick. All in all this bakery is one of the best Boston has to offer. I recommend checking it out… Enjoy.
