Best place to grab a cup of coffee downtown. Definitely small, but staff is nice and the pastries are great as well. Hopefully they’ll be able to expand as they have a valuable mission and work with other local companies and non profits.

I really wanted to like this place, but it’s just so average. The people are super nice, but the coffee really isn’t anything special. Plus, the owner is a little too aggressive in his advertising tactics. I get that he’s trying to make money, but it does kind of make me uncomfortable.

Exceptional coffee and a great muffin made from scratch. Very reasonable prices. Fast and friendly service. Very small storefront, easy to miss. This is my new go-to coffee shop when I’m in the area.

I’m new to this fine city, and like any good samaritan, I’ve got to earn my stripes of finding all the good local hot-spots before in fact calling myself a local. This day was Wednesday, when I walked in and found a delicious small hot double toffee nut latte with whole milk in the charming little refuge from the rain known as Boston Brewin Coffee. Such a wonderful place, local pastries and coffee made in MA– dare I say SO local I have my fingers crossed that next time i’ll leave with my very own Boston accent! Also, coffee’s not the only warm, pleasant thing hiding in this shop– the owners are just wonderful. Good people, Good coffee, Good way to say«Bahston, yah alright!» Looking forward to going back. like, soon.

Forgive my Seattle-inspired coffee snobbery, but I haven’t been able to find stellar coffee anywhere in Boston yet. This place is decent enough though. I dig that it’s a near literal hole-in-the-wall and how inexpensive the goods are. It’s cool that you get a free coffee for bringing back(to recycle) some number of cup sleeves.(Why don’t you Bostonians recycle more??) The scone was just sorta’ ok — but I remembered I’m not a huge scone fan so don’t take my word for it. The gal who helped me was super nice and helpful. That goes a long way for any business.

Great ice coffee with toffee nut flavah! The service is quick and super friendly, they make me feel good about eating a cookie for breakfast. By the way their cookies, chocolate chip and the oatmeal raisin… chewy goodness and huge! Muffins are on point as well with a great sugar top.

Great coffee, yummy bagel sandwiches, and friendly staff. Everything is reasonably priced and it was my go-to for breakfast in Boston.

I love this place. I’ve only been once, but my pumpkin muffin(with pumpkin seeds on the top!) was AMAZING and my macchiato was great too. The staff is friendly and laid-back, and they were playing Brand New as they made my coffee. What’s not to love?

once i was there and was pleasantly surprised with service they provide, very friendly people who don’t allow to hide smiles on their faces. food — tasty, prices-decent or so but I want a product line to be wider. but pastry is still good!

Good breakfast sandwiches, but a bit on the pricey side. They are super friendly in there and always give free cups of ice, so I can make my own iced green tea at work.

I see this guy on the corner ALL the time so I figured I’d drop in and give it a try. Line seemed long only because this place is teeny tiny but not a problem because it moved really quickly. Staff was super friendly and nice. Giving this 4 stars because(you can’t give 3.5) I love to support local business and I know they work hard so maybe they will read this. The ice coffee was awesome. I would go back just for this and to give it another go. However, I am still on my search for a real breakfast sandwich in this city. Microwaving an egg makes it taste like some sort of gross air foam. Microwaved bacon is even worse, it’s chewy and just not good. The bagel was great.

Friendly local coffee shop with all the emphasis of a good values mission you’d expect and beyond. Serving fair trade and organic coffee while offering pastries made by Haley House Bakery. Friendly atmosphere — good drinks. They also offer 2 – 3 vegan muffins on most days from Haley House(they just don’t label them anymore for some reason BOO, bring back the labels! so you need to ask). I wish they would start carrying a vegan hot sandwich to change it up. They offer soy and almond milk and a variety of coffee drinks with lots of syrups to pick from. It’s super tiny so you usually have to wait in in line in the hallway which can be awkward when people are trying to get by you. Make sure to ask for a frequent coffee punch card so you can rack up your points and get a free drink once in a while.

This review is actually for the city hall location, but I couldn’t find an entry for that. I was really sad, years ago, when I stopped working on Newbury Street and couldn’t go to TeaLux for their lemon scones anymore. Luckily, Boston Brewin has come through in a big way. I ate two of them in one day. Delicious. I don’t drink coffee, so I can’t speak to the quality of it. But I do know that they donate a bunch of money to local projects and support the Haley House by selling their baked goods. You can get a delicious treat for yourself and help people find their way=huzzah! Definitely going again(I actually already have once…) only annoying thing is going through security which isn’t a huge deal since they are so chilled out.

I’m a New Englander. I’m standoffish, mind my own business, etc. But there’s something really nice about a place that makes the effort to get to know you. People here(myself included) only do that when they really want to, we’re not trying to do some phony baloney West Coast dance. The folks at Boston Brewin definitely get to know you, and want to provide the best service you’ve ever had. They succeed. They also serve some awesome beverages and let you choose a charity to donate a portion of the profits to. Apart from how cool this place is, the coffee ain’t half bad either.

I’ve been here twice and it’s ok. The coffee is a bit better than Starbucks, but still too weak for my tastes. The lattes have some microfoam, but not as much as I’d like so the mouthfeel is still a bit thin. The chocolate chip scone was amazing, but the maple-walnut scone was no better than fine. It is very friendly, which can sometimes be a novelty in Boston, and it’s very small which lends it’s own ambiance. Overall, it’s ok, but why go here when a ~5 minute walk will get me to Thinking Cup?

Super friendly service at this little place. I wasn’t in love with the coffee, but would drop in again if I was in the neighborhood.

Ok Tom, you got me. Your enthusiasm and cheer always used to freak me out. When I saw you giving out hugs in front of Suffolk Law, I darted into oncoming traffic in order to avoid eye contact. I am a Bostonian after all. I pride myself in my cynicism and my first rate scowl. But yesterday, in the middle of Bar Prep, I finally gave in. You ordered me to have a fantastic weekend, and I, well, I SMILED. And then I felt something warm inside my chest… some people might call this«happiness.» And then I tasted my vanilla latte, a latte that was the same size as Starbuck’s version, and yet $ 1.50 cheaper. Anyways, I tasted this latte, and I was filled with the overwhelming desire to start hugging strangers on the street. It was THAT good. So thanks Tom. You’ve melted this city girl’s cold cold heart.
