Bobby Orr Statue

There aren’t too many chunks of bronze that weigh more than a third of a ton featuring iconic hockey legend in the post-​netting an equally iconic goal to clinch the 1970 Cup of one Sir Stanley.
Matter of fact, there’s only one.
That big ol’ base makes the whole shebang more boxy than it needs to be. But I digress, it’s what allows for a horizontal hockey demigod to be freeze-​framed while howling a song of fire and ice.
The open mouth, though; every yah dood’s hand or half empty Bud Select have felt around the inside of that metallic abyss. May the Wizards who brought Kim Cattrall to life in Mannequin grant Mr. Orr the ability to clamp down on occasion.

Great statue of a great player!

To the first person who successfully sticks an apple in Bobby Orr’s mouth, I will buy you a cup of coffee (Dunkin’ Donuts, of course).
As noted by the previous reviewer, this statue is a great landmark for meeting people. It’s also one of the few statues with a mouth that can easily be reached by a tall-​ish person. The only downside I can see is that it might be terrifying to those who haven’t seen the famous photo and therefore do not appreciate the significance of a slightly-​smaller-​than-​lifesize hockey player flying through the air.

Who is this strange man sailing through the air? He must be a hockey god. I must admit my ignorance of the sport of hockey, but on a sunny afternoon in May I found myself drawn to it very much like Richard Dreyfuss was drawn to the Devil’s Tower monument in that movie Close Encounters of The Third Kind. (I was really young when I saw that film and it took me years to realize that Richard Dreyfuss and Dustin Hoffman were two different people.)
A friend told me that this is an 800 pound bronze statue of a famous goal Bobby Orr made at the Stanley Cup 40 years ago. 800 pounds of bronze, wow. I think it was planted by aliens to control our minds.
Pros:
* This is a great landmark if you plan to meet up with friends.
* He has a big grin (or is it a menacing grimace?).
* He has a full head of hair.
* There might be an alien life form suspended in this monolith.
Cons:
* He has a menacing grimace (or is it a big grin?).
* He’s not wearing a safety helmet or face guard. What kind of example is that to kids?
* There might be an alien life form suspended in this monolith so be nice to it or it may track you down.
* The price of scrap metal is very high. Please don’t steal him. The aliens might have a good message and without this fancy antenna we are doomed.
