Great sports bar! The food isn’t great but the beers are pretty cheap and it’s a really fun place to watch college football. Specifically, this is the official bar for the Michigan State alumni group in Boston. Go green!

I’m giving this an extra star because it’s a Philly Eagles bar. It’s a typical sports bar, in a great location on Boylston, near Fenway. You walk into a large room with a bar on the right. The bar itself, looks a little beat up on the inside — very old floors, old bar, etc. — don’t know if that’s the vibe they want or if they’re due for a remodel. It was pretty packed on a Monday night for the Eagles game. One of the bartenders seem a bit flustered throughout the night, and I get that it’s busy, but he definitely showed it and wasn’t very attentive or pleasant. However, it’s a sports bar and I get it. Decent beer selection on draft and bottle. I was surprised to find so many veggie options on their menu, but the food wasn’t that good. The mozzarella sticks came out less than a few minutes after I ordered them and tasted like frozen mozz sticks that they put in the microwave(or oven). Later in the night, I got a pizza with peppers and onions and it was decent — thin crust… however, extremely oily. Overall, if I lived in Boston, I’d be here all the time for Eagles games and I’m sure the bar would grow on me. I’ll definitely come back for a game, but would eat before I get there.

I had not been in the Baseball Tavern in years. I liked what I saw for the most part. They added/remodeled the men’s room in the basement. It was clean. They have a good beer selection, both draft and bottles, and the food is standard bar food — pizzas and sandwiches mostly. We had very good service and the food we ordered — grilled chicken sandwich and buffalo chicken pizza, was good. Prices are reasonable too. We did not venture up to the roof but rather stayed on the main level. There appeared to be a private function/party in the basement.

Great atmosphere for sports and view from the top. Cheep beer. Staff are funny if you’re into sports… my friend and I were lost while they talked with another friend and laughed.

I am literally standing in line and I watched the door guy pass a drug deal as he let his friends in(who were at the end of the line) he was completely a power-weirdo over his obligation to let people in. It was bizarre. Honestly this one door guy really burnt the taste in my mouth for baseball tavern. Never again.

I want to be fair to this place but honest at the same time. The pros — decent beer selection and price, lots of room, roof top terrace, average bar food, location(across from Fenway) The cons — the floor was sticky, the carpet on the stairs was sticky and filthy, the bathroom door slams when it closes. Not a bad place to grab a few beers before a baseball game but I wouldn’t come here on any other occasion.

Where to begin with this place. The unfortunate thing is this place will always have a small soft spot in my heart, because this is where my buddies and I watched the Pats win the super bowl. But I digress. I mistakenly came here twice within three days with my fiancé, and had bad experiences both days. 7÷3÷15 — Came here at night to catch the sox game on the roof, because Fenway was going to shoot off fireworks after the game. Granted the game ran a little long that night, but everyone was up there because they wanted to see fireworks, and they had signs posted that said that the roof closed at midnight, so it didn’t even enter our mind that there could be an issue. At about 10:45 the staff started telling us they were closing the roof in 15 minutes. Uhhhh, what? As they were ushering us downstairs I was literally pointing at the sign and asking the bouncer why we had to leave the roof, all he said was«sorry it’s an old sign.» Wait so you mean to tell me I spent 3 hours here for no reason? 7÷5÷15 — I guess I should’ve learned my lesson, but we were looking to watch the women’s World Cup final and had friends visiting from out of town, so we figured the roof would be a cool place to show them while watching the game, and we would be gone well before 11:00. Ok first of all about 15 minutes before the game, it was not on tv, so I asked the bartender if he could change the channel. In a very rude, dismissive response he basically told me the game doesn’t start for 15 minutes and I shouldn’t worry. Whatever. It wasn’t until my fiancé asked literally seconds before the game started that they finally changed the channel. It gets worse. We had two waitresses. Why? I don’t know. And they clearly were not communicating because orders keep getting lost between them. At one point I had to ask for a beer three times. And it’s not like we’re even putting up with this for good food. I doubt anything here is made fresh. Everything is just bland, run of the mill pub food. But here’s the topper, about halfway through the first half, they told us we needed to close out because they were closing the roof at halftime! What good is having a roof if you keep kicking people off of it? Bottom line, there is really no reason to go here, especially if you can’t even enjoy it’s only redeeming quality which is the roof. I would be surprised if this place is open much longer. It’s just a needlessly big space in a very expensive and rising part of Boston. I’ve given this place too many chances and can no longer find a reason to come back here

Waited an hour for chips and salsa. Maybe the worst place to go before a baseball game. Go Jays!

Standard ballpark bar. A few area to host private events up and downstairs. Simple beers on tap and of course plenty of screens to watch what’s going on at Fenway.

Baseball Tavern is THE spot to hit up before a Sox game. Basement, 2 floors, and a rooftop deck! Awesome, efficient, personable bartenders and staff in general. Great place to watch a game of any sort. LSU and Wisconsin bar and they get packed for those too. Food is decent, I can’t say I’ve had a ton of it. Lots of beer and the best deal around with $ 2.50 Budweiser drafts all year long!

Came here for a NCAA game. Filled with fans. Not great if you’re looking for a place to dance the night away. Plus side was that my margarita was only 7 dollars. Very cheap.

The Baseball Tavern is one of the best places to grab a beer when the Red Sox are playing at home. It’s cheap($ 2.50 for some drafts) and they have several floors and a rooftop bar. The pub food is also decent, not particularly good or bad. During the late fall and winter, however, the Baseball Tavern is pretty quiet(although it fills up for Eagles games on certain Sunday’s). It would be easy to blame Fenway in general, but other places nearby stay open.

RATS. Literally rats. I saw a rat three times within a 15-minute period, and it was clearly not its first time exploring the area. He was clearly very comfortable in the tavern. The rat was on the ground floor though it originally came from upstairs. Unfortunately I didn’t see the rat until immediately after finishing my meal, but I can assure you that I will never be going here again. Disgusting. I can’t even imagine how many rats go into that kitchen once everyone leaves for the night.

This place is always understaffed. The people who do work here are very nice, but there are never enough people working. Why?! The food is meh. The atmosphere can be kind of fun. The idea of a dive is taken a little too far. They have a ledge on one side of the room for patrons to use if there are no tables. This past weekend it was covered in dirt. Not ‘oh it was kind of dusty,’ no. Dirt. All over it. There was water leaking from the ceiling from what looks like some repairs they have going in right now. I want to like this place! But, dirty and understaffed on a weekend during a Red Sox game? That’s just disrespectful to your customers.

Good: roof deck and $ 2.50 Bud, and pizzas. Bad: every food item except the pizza, and so much more. I ordered a Canadian Club, and the bartender asked me what else I wanted, because she had just poured a fruit fly out of the bottle. The non-pizza food items are deep fried frozen junk, and taste like it. The place is always understaffed, and most of the beer is watered down. Worst yet: the men’s room light turns off unless you daintily close the door just right. Nothing like pee on your feet and no idea if it’s even yours. Update: I just realized that I’ve been getting leaked on by water dripping through the ceiling. No joke, a dump.

My good friend recently graduated from a long Pharmacy program and invited me along a pub crawl with her class. The Baseball Tavern was a pit-stop on our Saturday night adventures. Judging by the name, the location(right near Fenway) and the way the bar it set-up… it’s all about the sports. Not my scene really but it was nice to get out with friends. We didn’t come on a game night, but it was still very busy nonetheless. The space flows pretty well with two separate levels and plenty of space to go around. There’s standing/dancing room and high tables to go around. I heard there was a roof deck but apparently that night it was closed. And the weather was decent too! Bummer. We were looking for more of a dancing scene which we didn’t find too much of here.* But that’s alright because the place was getting super packed towards the end. They had a decent selection of beers but nothing special. *Except for the very small yet random crowd in the corner dancing their asses off. Props to them.

This bar is the Michigan State bar and I am dating a sports guy so I have been there three times this year for various events. While I am not a huge sports person it’s hard not to get caught up in the environment. Bartenders are decent. Last time I was there for march madness some lady who claimed to «own» the bar kept buying me shots of whiskey. That same lady also switched shirts with some dude at the bar so she could have a Michigan state shirt. I’m guessing she bought him whiskey too. Don’t hate any of that. I’ve only gotten onion rings for food and they were fine.

Came here to watch a basketball game and was starving so we ordered the fish and chips(house favorite), wings, and the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen and heated in a microwave. The fish tasted like freezer burn and the wings were dry and tasteless. The buffalo chicken sandwich was terrible. Who grills a buffalo chicken sandwich? The atmosphere is great, but avoid the food. I would have rather starved. Good thing my team won.

Gster just moved into his apartment, and I was real antsy to find something to do. We wanted somewhere to eat, get a cheap beer, and be outside. Greg wouldn’t go anywhere until we had a plan. but it’s Boston. I said we should just hop on the t and go somewhere! We ended up walking a total of 6 miles this day! And I couldn’t even have a refreshing beer since I was on meds that wouldnt let me drink. Anyways, Jerry Remy’s was too pricey for what we wanted, so we came across the street. It was really cool cus each level of the resturaunt was a different college«theme» aka, every Michigan fan between the ages of 22 – 30 that were in Boston were on floor 1, Wisconsin on floor 2. It was really impressive as it serves as a place for kids from colleges across the company to meet and hang out. We sat on the roofdeck which as the perfect view of the jumbotron– good to know for game day! The chicken fingers were pretty good. your typical frozen bar food, but good in comparison to others. They were crisp and tasted just right. We also ordered their freshly cut potato chips that looked SO good on another table. But they forgot to bring them to us. Don’t expect more than your typical pub food, mediocre service and fun, spirited, sporty atmosphere! I would probably not come back here to eat unless I was really drunk before a sox game, or to watch a sox game.

Roof. Deck. Can’t think of a better place to sit and watch the game on TV while hearing the cries of joy(or sorrow, depending on the game) from across the road at Fenway.
