The Autonomie Project is a truly fantastic, local company, whose committment to growing a business that is just and equitable is genuine and impressive. All of their products – sweatshop free, organic, and vegan – are so beautiful. The website simply does not do them justice. Last week at the Vegetarian Food Festival, I got to lay my eyes on their goods – from gloves to handbags to sneakers – and was delighted to see how finely crafted their goods are. I purchased a shirt that raises awareness for global poverty/warming, which I just love. I can’t wait to see what goods they will start producing next. If you want to shop responsibly, and also want to look totally awesome, I highly suggest going to the Autonomie Project’s website( ) and checking out their product line. They have a lot to offer, on so many fronts. I can’t say enough good things about AP – they’re just awesome.

Autonomie Project( ) is a company whose entire line of products is fair trade, sweatshop free, and vegan. It’s pretty difficult to find all three of those features, and I usually settle for one or two, so I was pretty stoked to find out about AP through Co-op America( ). I recently ordered some of their low-top sneakers, and I just got them in the mail. So far, so good. They seem sturdy and they look great. They’re a little bit better looking than the ones made by No Sweat Apparel( ), another sweatshop-free company, but all in all, they’re pretty similar. AP’s sneakers are a tad more expensive than No Sweat’s, but I also like the fact that the rubber soles are made from FSC-certified sustainably grown rubber. Also, one of their selling points is that the glue they use isn’t made from horse hooves, as apparently some(or most?) industrial glue is. Plus, all of their products are advertised as vegan, which means I don’t have to worry about their being a mix-up with a similar, non-vegan product. I can’t wait till they expand their product line.
