AG Adriano Goldschmied Jeans

This was a great store, but it’s closed now. The staff at Betsey Johnson, next door to the empty unit that used to hold the AG Store, told me today that it closed in December.

So, you’re not likely to see me review many places outside of restaurants, but my experience here has drawn my proverbial pen to paper…
I gave the place two stars because, to be fair, they have pretty good clothes and surprisingly I bought stuff here even after the customer service experience I had…
When I went in here the first time to check out their jeans I found a pair I liked, but having just set out I decided against buying them, rather to put them on hold and come back (they were also on sale with a student ID, which I didn’t have with me at the time). To be fair, the girl who helped me the first night was very helpful, she told me which cuts might look good, which wouldn’t and was even willing to give some advice on the matter (being an athlete I HATE buying jeans). So after having done a little more wandering and deciding I would get the jeans I went back the next day with ID in hand.
Well, the staff that were on the next day treated me like I was walking in with dollar bills worth twenty-​five cents. When I gave my ID for a university that is not based in Boston they pointed out that I was not going to get the discount because «Sir, it clearly states Boston Colleges and Universities only,» which it did, but I was, at the time, attending a BOSTON satellite campus of the school. While most stores, especially in this economic climate would agree that it constituted a Boston University, they did not, and when I asked to speak with a manager, the response was awesome! «I’m the assistant manager, I can go find the manager but she’ll side with me»… Awesome…
So this brings about…
in short:
Go for the clothing, disregard the staff, and if they’re throwing their nose up too high in the air, shop somewhere else. Unfortunately they do have pretty nice jeans.

I walked in there today because they had a sale. But the staff was very helpful so I tired on some non-​sale jeans. I was looking for something very specific and after trying on a few pairs (Goldilocks?) I found exactly what I was looking for.
One minor suggestion, at this price level the hem work should be complimentary.
I’ve bought jeans from AG before. They have an excellent selection and is quite reasonably priced for the quality of jeans. Great service doesn’t hurt either.

I will never buy any other brand than AG.
I have been wearing AG jeans since 2004 and never looked back. I came to Boston 2 years ago on an interview and my treat to myself for doing well on the interview… a new pair of AG jeans from the Newbury store. They are very nice and accommodating. They always offer me something to drink, even if I am just browsing around.

By and large I agree with all of the feedback about AG — the jeans are great and comfy and the store itself is nice and the staff is very helpful.
If you are on the cusp of a ladies size 12 then the size 32 might fit you but I would say they are better if you are between a 10 and 12.
Love the suggestion about the outlet store and I have also had luck on eBay once you know the exact size, and style desired.

Amazing help, free coffee while I waited, free alterations, and my butt looks good? Sign me up.

Five stars for the jeans themselves. They freaking rock! They aren’t as expensive as other «designer» jeans, but I think they fit me the best. I just wish that there was some type of signage with all the different fits/​legs/​styles/​washes of jeans. It’s pretty overwhelming in there.
One thing I don’t like is how the staff literally follows you around the store. When I went downstairs, a girl followed me. I walked around a corner and she followed me. Went back upstairs, she followed me again. I was THIS close to running up and down the stairs just for a laugh.
One thing I suggest… I discovered the AG Outlet out in California. If you find a pair of jeans that you like at the store on Newbury Street, call the outlet– 951−849−6100. Very likely, they’ll have the same ones, ship them to you for cheap (if not free). I got two pairs of jeans there for $ 70 bucks. Same as the store!

i loved the jeans i got here. i also had a pair of cords too. they had a great sale 50% off. i love sales like that!
the staff was nice, and helpful with me. i really felt like the girl listened to what i wanted, and make suggestions based on what i said, not based on what was more expensive/​would give her better commission. however, i went once with friends and a different girl was there and was rather rude/​stuck up. ah well. you win some you lose some.
both pairs were comfy as hell. i still have the jeans and the cords i just destroyed (but i’m as good to my clothes as i should be).
expensive, but well worth it. whatever you get WILL last.

I take my vitamins. I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. I even look both ways when I cross the street. But when it comes to jeans, I like to live on the edge.
Jerry Seinfeld once said: «I like the button fly. That is one place on my wardrobe I do not need sharp interlocking metal teeth. It’s a mink trap down there.»
Clearly, Seinfeld didn’t love the sauce as much as I do. Sure, the zip fly can be extremely risky, but when it comes to a night of drinking, I am willing to take my chances and opt for its ease and expediency.
The last few pairs of jeans I have bought have been made by AG. In addition to offering the lush friendly convenience of a zip fly, the jeans actually fit someone like me who is tall and thin and often has a tough time finding the appropriate size.
The shopping experience itself couldn’t be easier. I walked in — was approached immediately — and starting pointing. The sales woman grabbed my selections. I tried on four or five pairs and then walked out with a new pair of jeans. 15 minutes total.
Bottom line: drunk friendly apparel, extensive selection, and attentive service.

I bought my first AG Angel jeans on the sale rack at Jasmine Sola. It was love. The cotton is soooo soft and comfortable!
Since I have been wearing my single AG pair so often, I thought it would be worth it to invest in another pair. Sad to say, I was greatly disappointed by the service at the Newbury St. store. I was one of only 3 customers in the store that day and the first to walk in. Was I greeted by either salesperson? No.
Ten minutes later, another Asian girl walked in and she was greeted immediately. I don’t know if she was a regular or not, but I noticed they showed her a fitting room at once and pointed out all the sales. Meanwhile, I circled the room like a shark browsing all the racks and settled on a few items to try. I wasn’t offered any assistance at all except when I approached the salesguy to ask about the jeans! Imagine my surprise when he said they didn’t have my size in stock in the style I liked and would have to special order it. You mean to tell me that you have a whole wall of jeans, and you don’t have a single thing you could offer me? Honestly, I don’t think he looked very hard because I wear a pretty average size that most stores carry.
I was a bit miffed at this point, but I still walked out with a hot velvet blazer and a lovely cashmere/​silk jumper. But if they weren’t offering such a great 50% off sale that day, I would NOT have bought anything here. Way too pretentious even if the clothes are of good quality.
Of note: The boyfriend found a pair of jeans on sale downstairs and he said the service was dramatically better. The girl who helped him was much more friendly and helpful, so maybe I just had the bad luck of visiting when the underwhelming associates were working.

The best place on newbury for jeans. other than my addiction to their jeans (they make my ass look incredible), the sales people are helpful and honest.

Awesome jeans for guys and girls. Also their belts are amazing. I agree to Erica knowing her shit. They have great service. Once i broke a belt loop and they had it fixed for free really fast.

I have always been on the lookout for that perfect pair of jeans. When the premium denim craze hit, I was all excited — finally I could find a great pair of jeans to make my slightly bootylicious booty look great. First I tried the sevens. ick — they made me look like I was square shaped. Then came Rock n Republic, Joe’s Jeans, and Citizens… nope nope and nope. I began to feel defeated. But lo and behold — suddenly my world was opened to AG Jeans! *cue the brightening lights and enlightening music*
I now proudly own two pairs of AG Jeans — the Angel and The Club. Both fit my body perfectly, enhancing my curves, making me feel like a million dollars. Many a person (my parents included) scoffed at the price of these jeans, but I maintain that the true value comes when you divide the price of the jeans by the number of times you wear them… and these jeans are so perfect they never leave my body. The Newbury location is fabulous and each salesperson is trained to help you enormously. They even help those of us that are vertically challenged by pinning up the hem and quickly whisking the pants away to a magical tailor who even reattaches the original hem so no one will be able to tell that you had to have some alterations — seriously, what more can you ask for?

service was very friendly and professional. Sales people were happy to help and explain the types of jeans.
however, this store will not have much, if anything, if you are petite and a size 12 or higher.

I have long worshiped the ground under Adriano Goldschmied — AG jeans fit perfectly and make my butt look fantastic (a feat of unspeakable proportion). You really can’t put a price on a fabulous pair of ass jeans. It’s kind of unfortunate that in order to pay for them I have to sell a kidney, but such is life.
However, the jeans gods have smiled upon us — directly beneath the AG store is it’s less-​expensive little sister Big Star. The manufacturer is the same, but half the price. Tremendous. The sales staff was incredibly helpful — with sizing, fit, style everything. Unfortunately none of the jeans in my fit were all cotton — I’m not a huge fan of stretchy jeans, but I still walked away with a great pair. And for far less than I expected. Awesome.
ps. AG also has a sizable guy’s section — half the store is devoted to men’s clothing, not the usual diminutive rack in the back to occupy boyfriends husbands and fathers.

Yes, we all dread shopping for a new pair of jeans. I find it so depressing to go into the fitting room and not be able to pull those hot jeans over my ass… boo hoo! At AG, the girl that helping me was fantastic. They have a style for every body type: I was one of 3 customers when I went in, and we all ended up with a different fit. Also, the jeans come in some really unique washes/​finishes. Just expect to pay the price for lovely designer jeans and service. DO NOT buy your AGs at Saks, as the sales staff here is much better!

Ladies, AG Jeans fit women with small waists and large booties without leaving that ugly gap in the back. Look, no belt! Rock.

Jeans galore. Great jeans that can fit and flatter most body types. I bought the first pair I tried on. It was a glove. The other appealing factor was that they do complimentary tailoring. Words that sing to me and every other short person can appreciate that. It took 2 days and I had my pair which came in a clever messenger bag. They are pricey but if you’re still looking for that perfect fit jeans, it’s worth a look. The pair also came with a half-​jean half-​plastic sort of envelope which I’ve been using to put cash in.
Other than the one helpful sales chick the rest were snooty and useless. There goes a star.

Adriano Goldschmied is no man to make fun of… he was the denim designing genius at Diesel until he left to create his own line. His women’s jeans are known to slim the upper half of the leg, prompting a friend to comment that these must be «skinny girl jeans.» Luckily, they’re not. I’m particular about washes, and AG certainly has lots of variety. Robert G. is right… you won’t want to leave.

FABULOUS! You can go to Saks or Neiman and looks for jeans — you can even try on some AG styles — but you have not experienced denim shopping until you stop by this place. First off, you are hit with a two story tall pair or jeans matched with an equally large denim jacket — all real! Once inside, you have every possible wash, fit and size jean to try on (I’m already in heaven!) Combine this with knowledgable, fun, hip staff and you have the perfect denim experience. Do not miss this — if you are in the market for some new jeans, stop by — you’ll never want to leave!
