This is a little back neighborhood tavern that may be difficult to locate, but has plenty of spirit. Some good craft selections and a hearty mixed crowd. Truly is the Heart Of Bordentown!

Local town bar in a residential neighborhood that looks exactly as one would expect. Great sight lines inside and wonderful service from the bar’s friendly staff. Extensive menu for what is not a large bar with quality food from starters to sandwiches and burgers. They always have something scheduled to keep patrons entertained and have special events all the time. Great part of a small community!

We decided to stop here for lunch based on the Unilocal reviews. We enjoyed our time here but left wanting a little more. The menu was good with a mix of bar and up scaled bistro-ish choices. But both of our dishes, although well conceived lacked seasoning.

I’ve lived in Bordentown for a good majority of my life. This place is awesome! They staff and bartenders are very friendly, there is always something going on whether it’s game night, karaōke night, live music… always something to do for this quaint town. The food is amazing! I love the roast beef sandwich… always a good place to hang out with friends and they are always serving both drink and food specials. I would absolutely recommend this place to family and friends… although we all go there as it is haha!

This was an excellent find on my way back from Ardmore, PA. Driving back from Ardmore after a great meeting with a client, we Googled a place off the Pennsy extension and stumbled our way to this gem. From the outside, we were like, uh oh, but when we walked inside, it was AHHHHH. They have your normal beers on tap, plus an addl’ 10 – 12 micro-brews that are out of this world. That’s not even the tip of the proverbial iceberg people of Unilocal! Their sandwiches are Mack Freaking Daddy! Oh yeah, they’re quite special, served with onion rings, even if you don’t ask, a couple of spicy pickles and the Bonaparte sandwich with Au Jus was Awfabulous. Make your way down to Bordentown, enjoy your antiguing, shopping, history of the town and kick back and say yeah, THISISAMERICATHEBEAUTIFUL. Thank you for your hospitality people of Bordentown. Great lunch

Felt as though, except for the lack of smoke, i had stepped back in time to Goodfellas or The Godfather. A very authentic pub downtown Bordentown off a back street. Had the Pulled Pork Barbecue Sandwich with the coleslaw on the sandwich(they bring it to you on the side). This was a mouth watering more than enough meat and very delicious(5 napkin) sandwich. I’m not sure what kind of sauce, but it was excellent. The only downside is that the pork seemed to be shredded instead of pulled and we know pulled is always better.

As others recommended, the peanut butter and jelly wings were excellent, kind of reminded me of Thai food, spicy peanuts and a tad of sweetness. Everyone liked their food, and the service at the bar was friendly and efficient. They now have a good selection of draft beers, including my new favorite, Spellbound out of Mt Holly. I just think that their beers are a bit overpriced, around $ 6 for a craft beer, for a small, neighborhood pub. A bit better than the places on Farnsworth that charge $ 7. They might fill the bar if they lowered prices.

Great place for drinks and food. I was in town on business and decided to give this place a try. Best decision of the day. The staff was very friendly and I was not treated like an out of towner. If you arw ever in the area, do not bypass this gem.

Great place for a cheap cold beer and some great food! I stopped in during happy hour and they had two dollar domestic drafts! The patrons and staff were super friendly! Joann, the bartender was super helpful and recommended some great food! I tried the wings and the rueben. Both were super flavorful. The HOB takes bar food to a whole new level.

This was a great find! We visited the tall ships on the Camden waterfront & didn’t want to stand in the drizzle for truck food w/plastic utensils. So we looked at Bordentown. 1. Super sweet people. I think Mary is the owner, but it doesn’t matter – everyone was sweet and on. 2. Kids served milk – without straws. A plus for us. 3. Onion rings are fresh tasting. They may not be made in house, but they taste like onions, not indescribable mush. 4. Kid’s burgers well seasoned. 5. Crab cake had minimal fillers & tasted like CRAB! 6. Wings salty but not greasy – yum 7. Ribs tender. I’m not a sauce fan, but they were perfectly cooked. 8. Good, tangy, crisp pickles 9. Good beer selection, also sold by the growler. $ 6/pint. 10. Aioli good, horseradish sauce the strong, anaphylactic shock version – seriously awesome This place is fantastic. It’s a pub in a small, adorable town, but they’re nice. We travel and visit a ton of places, but were blown away with the food. They care about the food as well as the vibe – a local watering hole – but I’m definitely returning. Thank you! $ 40⁄2 adults, 2 kids, bf tip

I realize that I sometimes live in a fantasy world, but there are times when reality presents itself as phantasm. So it was when I opened the old wooden door and entered The Hob Tavern. Yes. They say the letters stand for«Heart of Bordentown,» but there is another deeper meaning. Bordentown has a rich if mysterious history of being the place where Napoleon Bonaparte was spirited away from Elba by French royalists who wanted to protect him from the republican elements at work in France, and hide him until the time was right for the 3rd Empire. What better place than a tiny hamlet in the New World where his family owned a vacation home on a rise overlooking a wild Delaware River? Who would notice a small man speaking French walking around the village? Too, it is easy to imagine entering Middle Earth and sitting in a Hobbit home while here. It is dark and glowing with friendly inhabitants that are inviting and have an open kitchen for all who visit. So, if you give yourself time to consider the possibilities, and settle in, you could have quite an adventure. The HOB is a dive in the best sense of the word. It is a locals bar one block off of the main Farnsworth Avenue. The streets back there are narrow, and the homes are small. There is plenty of beer, and the kitchen remains«grill on» until 1:00 am on weekends. Prices are ridiculously low. The homemade soups are great. The menu options for sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc., remarkably diverse. The quality is several steps above bar food. Try to go on an off hour to enjoy the environment before the crowd hides that from you. Weekday lunch until 5 is a good window. Let us know what you think.

Awesome neighborhood bar ! Eclectic local crowd and reasonably priced… what’s not to like? Bordentown is typical west Jersey/Philly area vibe where everybody may not know your name but at least they’re cool about it. Good place to meet someone special.

Great place! Wrap around bar is a key feature not to mention friendly local patrons and staff. Food was great and five dollar nugget nectar drafts never hurts! Before settling our tab we were talking to a couple at the bar and they told us about the peanut butter and jelly chicken wings. This what elevates this place to five stars. They were sweet and spicy with a hint of peanut flavor.

Townie Bar and Grill with 10 taps, local microbrew and good food. Thomas Paine(corned beef, kraut and Russian dressing) was awesome. All meats are cooked and prepared on-site. Great place for football and brews and the $ 20 Unilocal coupon that you can buy knocks $ 10 off your bill. Great experience.

Just passing through jersey and decided to walk over from the truck stop. Great little local bar. Everyone is very friendly. Everyone knows everyone kind of place. Good local crowd karaōke on Saturday. At the end of the night the bar back even gave me a ride back to the truck stop I tried to decline as I didn’t want to impose but ended up taking it. Awesome place and will go back any time I’m in jersey!

My friends and I have a saying — «Nothing good ever happens when you start your night at the HOB» That being said, the HOB is a tiny little hole in the wall dive bar, that could easily be missed if you didn’t know exactly what to look for. The interior décor is just as unimpressive, but you don’t go to the HOB for ambiance. You go to the hob to get super drunk for super cheap. There are always drink specials and the wings are awesome(the PB&J wings are a must try, if for nothing else, to say you tried peanut butter and jelly wings!). I certainly wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to patronize the HOB, but if you happen to be in the area and happen to stumble across it, I can almost guarantee you’ll have some really fun stories to tell after one night there!
