I wish I could do zero stars. Had the calamari, worst decision ever. Smelled of rotten fish, was chewy and just down right repulsive. The staff was friendly but very inattentive. I will never recommend anyone to this establishment ever. Good luck if you dare.

Maxfields entertainment is great but they are grossly over priced. Its robbery to charge $ 12.00 for a glass of Kendall. Stick to seltzer you more bang for your buck

Maxfiield’s on Main gets a fourth star purely based on its charm and general potential. It’s a great location with a beautiful interior that is equally matched with outdoor seating. A full bar and food on the inside paired with live music at night makes it a great place to be. I originally shied away from stopping in because I always assumed there was a $ 10 cover charge, which I had no interest in paying, but we were able to stop in on a Friday night without a cover charge. The drinks were ok. Service was ok but not stellar. Maxfield’s on Main has some great potential, but could benefit from some larger crowds to gain popularity.

If you haven’t been here yet now is the time. Great music, cocktails, and the food had reached new heights. They’ve hit the mark. Looking forward to getting through the colder months here with comfort food and music… Feeding the soul!

Came here for after dinner drinks with 2 other couples on a Friday night(18 Sept). It was VERY loud and you really can’t hear yourself think. There was no cover(and not sure why there would be one either) and they had a two drink minimum — that’s OK I guess, but not for a small bar in Boonton, NJ. Well, we ordered drinks, which as difficult due to it being SO loud. 3 beers, one orange vodka concoction, a glass of Red and my wife ordered a Cosmopolitan. Well, drinks took forever to come(as there may have been 6 – 8 other people in the bar, not good) and my wife’s Cosmo came out looking like Orange Juice with tons of pulp. I had NO idea what that drink was but it sure wasn’t a Cosmo. The server did order a Cosmo for her as she showed us the ticket, but what came out wasn’t close. That tells me the bartender can’t read and/or doesn’t know what a Cosmo is and neither does the server. Also, the beers were served as if they were sitting for a while(no head on the beers and there was about approx. 1in missing from the top of the beers. Top them off before you serve them!) and weren’t very cold. So the server took my wife’s «Cosmo» back and brought another drink — which again, took forever! This, again, was NOT a Cosmo… At this point, I was ready to walk out, but she ordered a Vodka and cranberry — just about what a Cosmo consists of. That came, FINALLY, as ordered… and was on the house. Ya think? So, we drank our drinks and left. If you like loud Jazz music, I guess this is your place. Not for me, and nothing screamed«Come Back!». They had food menu’s but didn’t order anything, but people were eating, so I can only assume the food was good enough to eat.

Music: Fantastic. Not sure how the owner draws such great musicians to such a low key venue. Cocktails: The bartender nails it every time. One very small issue… the martini olives could be better. Food: I only had the wings and I’d only rate them as fair. The menu offers many options and they all read very nicely. Service: I camped out here on a Thursday afternoon from 1730 until 2030. My server was always available but was not hovering at my table. If I needed something, she was there. Summary: Easy, comfortable, fun

Went this weekend with a group of friends 7 of us. The place is really a nice place. The inside is brick and wood. The music was good but a bit loud, made it difficult to talk. The only thing is that it is a tad on the pricy side. I mean its Boonton nit NYC. Other than that I would go again. May hit it with my GF for happy hour which looks good it runs till 7.

The only bar in Boonton with patio seating and live music almost every night. Their patio is a bit small but the front of the restaurant opens up to the patio so you can sit and still enjoy the view of main street from inside. The interior is nicely decorated and spacious. I’ve been told that there is also an upstairs area but I haven’t had a chance to check it out. Since moving to Boonton a couple of months ago, this place has definitely become one of my go to spots to grab a beer because of the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Their beer selection is average — I do wish that they had a few more craft beers but I can get by with the ones that they have. Just recently I was able to catch the end of one of the live bands playing and I really enjoyed the music. Some nights have a $ 10 cover charge when there is a band but I was told by the bartender that you can avoid the cover charge by going to the upstairs bar.

Went in for one drink before a band was set to go on at 9pm. Service and drinks were very good, but they charged over $ 40 for two drinks. When I pointed out that we were charged for music, they took it off the bill, but it was an ordeal, and the woman at the door(manager/owner) gave us a really dirty look as we walked out. We won’t stop in again.

Nice ambiance, comfortable place. Too bad it ends there. Went to see a friend’s band playing. Entertainment was awesome! Service — Very friendly but seemed to be nervous and did not know anything about the menu Food — Awful. $ 15 for an appetizer of fried Calamari. They made it seem like this awesome dish. it came out with tomatoes on it and balsamic vinegar for dipping. Pizza — They say«Pick your toppings» Then do not list the toppings and the server has no idea what they have. Pizza comes out and it’s absolutely terrible. Drinks — Ordered 2 Stella’s and they brought 1 Sam Adams and 1 Stella. How they couldn’t even see the color difference is beyond me. Conclusion. If they can get it together it could be a cool place. Prices did not reflect the value they gave you. Won’t be going back unless going to see my friend play again. However, i will be eating before i go

The large tv screen over the band is very distracting. The photos and dates of the entertainment is old news, nothing current on that screen. The same pictures over and over. Just saying…

We have been to Maxfield’s a number of times since they have opened. My favorite time to visit is during the summer when the outdoor seating is available. The menu is quite limited, but what we have had has been quite good. My husband swears that they have the best chicken wings that he ever had. We visited one evening when the have wine and bourbon tasting — it was fun. They have a full bar and any mixed drinks that we have ordered have been well mixed. The music has been good, just too loud for such a small place. It was hard to speak to my husband. They need to be more cognizant about that as people do like to socialize in a setting like that. It is a cool, local place for hanging out and they did a great job converting it back to the firehouse from a retail store. It adds character to Boonton Main Street and I hope that they do well for many years to come.

Boonton is out of hand. The prices are stupid. I went to this place max fields and ordered a Manhattan. It was $ 17. Half the drink is vermouth. $ 17 for one Manhattan. Fuck that. We didn’t eat but prices were absurd too. Chips and guacamole were 9.99.

I really love the building and they get great musicians there. Last time there, I was advised by the server that there would be a $ 15 music charge, per person, since we had not made a reservation($ 10 if we had). We were meeting someone there so we were rather stuck and we agreed to pay. So when our other party arrived we figured we might as well stay and take in the music. Turns out, it was the last set and it lasted about 30 minutes. So our party of 3 paid $ 45 for a half hour. Soon as the act was done, they yelled out«last call» and we were rushed out of there. They got my money that time but there won’t be a next time.

My friend and I had read the reviews and looked at the menu and decided to give it a try. It’s a great building right on Main St with outdoor seating for the warmer days and the general bar/dining area inside. Although there weren’t many people there, it was really cramped because the tables were so close together. Despite that, we were looking forward to having a great meal. We were disappointed. The menu was very different from what we saw online. When we questioned it, we were told that the one online hadn’t been updated in «forever». We ordered the cheese nachos to share, which were a little sparse. It was just a few chips on a plate with some cheese that wasn’t completely melted, served with a little sour cream and salsa. Not worth $ 8. For our meals, we both ordered the huevos rancheros. HEAVYSIGH. I’ve had several different versions of this dish that were all pretty good, so it’s not like I’m a huevos rancheros snob or anything. But being from NM and knowing how it should be, this just wasn’t even close. When it came out with crispy corn tortillas, like a tostada, and marinara sauce… not chile sauce, enchilada sauce, or even salsa… MARINARA sauce… that was it for me. So disappointing. I sent it back and ordered something else. My friend ordered hers with no tomatoes, so she basically had an egg tostada. The woman helping us, not sure if she was a manager/owner, did apologize and said the they had a new chef who didn’t know the dish. I ordered the steak sandwich instead, which was pretty good in comparison. It came with a few fries and a small salad. Besides the food, the service was really slow. Maybe this place is better suited to the night/bar crowd. Just wasn’t good for us.

Love the place. First, I would call this a place to go for music and if you are hungry they can accommodate you with food. I would not go with the thought that it’s a dinner place. It is a music place that attracts great artists. Provided you view it that way you will love this place. I saw Holister and Friends and they were simply awesome.

After 20 minutes and the server not bringing a menu, I had to reach to another table to take one that had been left. When they finally got back to me, there was absolutely nothing on the menu I could eat. If you don’t eat red meat or pork don’t come here. The only fish item, crab cakes, were out. You only fowl was a Buffalo Wing appetizer. There was a veggie panini but the person next to me said it was too dry and overcooked. The only thing she could offer me that was not on the menu that I could eat was callimari. Don’t get me wrong, I really like this place its just tonight was really miserable. 45 minutes for the callimari. And that was 15 minutes after I was told it would be out in 5 minutes. Now please note that this wasn’t a failure of the servers, it was a failure of management for only scheduling 3 servers when they were having an event of the magnitude of Lou Pallo(of the Les Paul Trio) during the week of Les Paul’s birthday. With visitors from as far away as Nashville and Hollywood, this doesn’t reflect well. I was sitting next to the driver of the Gibson tour bus and he had to go out to the bus to get sodas for himself and his companion because they never brought what he ordered. So, take a clue management, for the sake of customer service, when you are having an event of magnitude, over-schedule and send the extra help home if they aren’t needed. I think you’ll find them necessary, like they would have been tonight.

The positives about this place are that the setting and décor are excellent. It’s in an old town police station complete with a jail cell that’s serving as a wine room. The lounge upstairs and the restaurant area are both furnished nicely. I’m sure this would be a great place to go for music. However, the bad part is that I went there for Sunday brunch. The food was WAY overpriced and the quality was no better than a diner. I ordered the French toast and the only«extra» my $ 14 got me was a tiny cup of unripe mango. My wife got the equally overpriced chicken panini with buffalo mozzarella, which she said was bland. She liked the carrot slaw that came on the side though. I’d like to give this place a try one night for the music, but I may lean away from getting any food.

My friends took me here last night to celebrate my birthday a bit early. It was a great choice! Def make a reservation — it was a good thing we did, with the live jazz band, good ambiance, delicious food, and nice location in a restored fire house — it made the night something really special for me. [and my friends!] I think they need to revisit their terminology of «small plates» because it really isn’t. They offer appetizers and regular size paninis with a good carrot/cabbage slaw on the side. It’s more café/bistro than small plates in my opinion. We all shared the charcuterie and cheese platter, shrimp and mango cocktail, guacamole & chips, pulled bbq panini, and veggie panini. Everything came out at once, they could have put the appetizer type items in before the sandwhiches, but that’s okay — we made do and nothing was a «hot item» [besides the pork, but that’s okay] so nothing got«cold». I have to say, everything was super delicious. We enjoyed everything down to the last bit on our plates. I look forward to going back and enjoying the rest of the items! Small menu, but I gather its manageable for the kitchen, wise decision. Currently it’s BYOB [just opened a few weeks ago] and the Sancerre my friends bought along was great with everything. They had ice buckets for some, we did not get one — which was disappointing on a warmer summer evening. According to our server, they’ll get their liquor license soon. Service was okay, nothing spectacular — it seems the owner was there helping expedite things, we did not notice any hiccups — which is great for a place that just opened a few weeks ago. The house was sold out, apparently this jazz band opener and headliners were very popular among the 40+ crowed. [older crowed, we were the youngest there by far, but whatever! :D] as I said earlier make a reservation for sure — we wouldn’t have gotten a table if we didn’t. Obviously it got loud in there with the live music which made conversation hard, but obviously that’s expected with live music. The acoustics system was really great too, and the performance was really wonderful. Last night was a great way to bring in my birthday, Amazing life time friends, delicious food, delicious wine, and some live music! I highly recommend this place!
