My favorite frozen custard in seaatle area. I like my concrete with almonds and heathbar. Yummy!

Had a great sub next door at Jerseys Mikes, then walked across the parking lot for some Old School Frozen Custard. The older guy who took our order was nice but a little qwerky and someone needs to tell the owners to order some new chairs for the guest area, the ones they have now look a little ratty and worn out. Now on too the custard… Two words: BIGANDDELICIOUS! We ordered the Principles Office and be warned its huge and for $ 7.99 it should be, it cost more than our sub sandwich next door. My wife and I knew this ahead of time, so we ordered one to share and it was plenty.

I have never tasted frozen custard and wanted to give this place a shot hoping to find a new found love. BUT only ended heartbroken… The cool thing about this place is that they have a «special» flavor they have for the day. The uncool, is that, that’s the only flavor along with vanilla and chocolate. That day’s special was Orange Creamsicle. We ordered the«Banana split» which in the picture came in a bowl, but in real life came in a cup. We were really disappointed by this. Really wished the owner would have told us ahead of time because I am not a big fan of fudge and if we would have known we probably wouldn’t even have ordered it. The cup of banana split was hard to eat and trying to scrape the bottom for strawberry syrup was even harder. What was a bigger disappointment was that I couldn’t really taste how a «real» frozen custard would have tasted. If only it was in a bowl and not a cup, I could have scraped the syrup and tried it. Not to mention, pretty pricey at almost 8 dollars, 8 dollars of disappointments.

I like frozen custard and so does my kid. For some reason I always imagine it coming out of a machine into a cone like Kohr Bros and I was looking forward to a chocolate vanilla or vanilla/orange or something along those lines. I should have known from the minivans and SUVs parked out front that this was just another Coldstone clone, although more upscale with a lot of open ceiling, ductwork, wood and tasteful décor. Sort of like Cutter’s Point or Tully’s. There were the usual two flavors and a weird flavor like… was it cake batter or something? And a huge row of mix-ins. So I stand there and stand there and finally someone comes over and I say, «Is there soft serve?»(which is the custard style I like, ’cause that’s the way it is in the mid-Atlantic) and the girl points to the sign and says something patronizing along the lines of everything we serve is on the sign. Which isn’t what I asked. I simply didn’t see the machines, and didn’t realize this was a «NY» style custard place where the custard is in tubs and looks like regular ice cream. Not that I have anything against NY style, just that my kid likes the soft serve style and I like the two flavor swirl. By now, the hipsters at the tables were all looking at me like I was way out of place, and the girl(and the other girl) behind the counter were giving me that«you really don’t belong here» look and sighing, and making me wonder why I’d turned against traffic(Bonney Lake, rush hour – where the road narrows(or used to and people still slow down)) into this place. And I’m really glad I’d left my kid out in the car because I don’t need to expose her to stuff like this. So I left. No custard. No real review because I don’t need to leave cash at a place that’s going to treat me like it’s a burden to talk to me or take my money. But I did like the open ceiling. It was very nice.

It is hard finding a GREAT frozen custard place here in Washington. We decided to give this place a chance and I am glad we did. OMG, it was amazing. So good. It makes ice cream so boring. The gentleman that owns this place is so very nice as well. I know we will be back here. At least in the next few weeks… Only thing keeping me from giving him 5 star is pricing. Two frozen yogurts in a cone was a little over $ 5.00. In Michigan that paid for 4 large cones. A little pricey.

I didn’t learn my lesson the first time and came back again. My stomach hurt like it was rotting from the inside out and I paid $ 5 for it. The customer service was crap, and there is never anyone inside the place.

The frozen custard was great but the customer service or lack thereof left much to be desired. I asked the young lady behind the counter basic questions and each time she pointed out all the info is posted on their board. Not a great experience to say the least

Tasty custard… will definetely be back. Getting a single scoop in a cup was not a bargain — but if you order the single cone you get at least twice as much! Sampled all the flavors and even the flavor of the day(Key Lime) was tasty. The guy who worked their was super nice and helpful.

Good, good stuff. I’m not a frozen custard afficianado by any means — in fact, I’ve never had it until Old School. But I thoroughly enjoy it. It’s smoother, creamier, richer than ice cream. They’ve opened a new location in Capitol Hill, but interstingly enough I’m more often near to this location than that one. And I live in West Seattle! The last time were were here we had our pups with us. The gal who brough out our custards offered little 1 oz servings in mini cones for them. So cute! Great service, nice peeps. A winner.

Awesome concrete combinations and hand packed flavor of the day pints to order. The young lady was very funny and friendly and waited until we had finished our concretes to pack the S’more pint :-)! We both had a taste for Nathan’s Hot Dog’s, but who could pass up a 10% discount if you eat a meal at one of the 2 restaurants in the mini mall(Mr. Jalapeño and Jersey Mikes) Love the online flavor of the day calender! Love the texture… reminds me of small town suburb custard stands outside of Chicago or Cleveland. There is a pub being constructed in this strip mall as well… we’ll be back!

Pretty good custard, but not amazing. They sell cute shirts. They are friendly. Every day has a special flavor in addition to vanilla and chocolate. Weekends have Italian ice.

I wished it was better, but I asked around Unilocal about some real frozen custard and someone recommended this place… so we went after trying to get into Wild Waves on the second hottest day in Seattle history. It was good… dont get me wrong… but once youve had Leon’s frozen custard… things just cant compare. It wasnt creamy enough or rich enough in flavor… I only had the chocolate and vanilla though, Id be willing to go back and be more adventurous about flavors. My friend got their cherry ices blended with vanilla custard and that seemed like the way to go. The staff was super nice and friendly. One girl was willing to give my friend the shirt off her back when she wanted to buy one and they didnt have her size.
