Usually would have given this breakfast spot a 5 today was not that day. We come here pretty frequently, love the pancakes and the skillet. Today the service was spotty at best, the food even worse, cold pancakes, I asked for fresh hot pancakes, they come and now they are not cooked all the way, the server is pleasant enough, never refills my glass is ice tea, my party goes to the car while I have to wait almost 15 mins before the check comes. I tell the hostess the service was ok but the food was not cooked well and we had to keep sending it back… Her response. Well we are kinda of busy today. Had she shown any level of CUSTOMERSERVICE, I would probably not written this review.

We ordered a Dutch Baby as soon as we walked in and the waitress came around 20 minutes later telling us the first one didn’t work out and they were putting in another one. She later brings out an undercooked flat pancake. We obviously didn’t eat it and didn’t pay for it but no other comps were given for the inconvenience, barely an apology. Not very good customer service. **I would like to add that our waitress was excellent and very apologetic. We have also come here several times and had absolutely no issues**

My wife and I decided to take our kids out for breakfast, since it was our anniversary and we didn’t have a babysitter for the day. We walked in and were impressed with the friendliness and the size of the place. We were seated right away, which is always great when you have small children. After a few minutes our server came by and introduced herself and took our drink order. All seemed to be going well. After looking over the extensive menu, we had made up our minds about what to order. Actually, I was torn between two items, so I asked our server. She immediately suggested that I NOT order the skirt steak and eggs. She told me it was not good and is one of the most returned meals on the menu. So I went with my second option, chicken and waffles. I don’t particularly care for the fake syrup, so I ordered the Vermont Maple Syrup for $ 1.50 extra. A small price to pay for actually enjoying my food. When the food arrived, it all looked for good. But that’s generally where it stopped. I ordered my eggs over-medium. When I cut into them, the whites were not cooked. Not a little runny. Not cooked. So I tried my daughter’s scrambled eggs. Bad choice. They seem to use an artificially butter-flavored oil to cook them. I couldn’t swallow what I was chewing because the flavoring was that bad. My wife encouraged me to order more eggs, but since we were 0 for 2, I choose to just forgo the eggs and focus on my waffle, which was actually very good. The chicken portion of the«Chicken and Waffles» was just two fried chicken tenders, but they were okay. So I poured my syrup all over my waffle and starting eating. Much to my dismay, this was not the real maple syrup I ordered, but it was too late. My wife’s breakfast wasn’t positively memorable, either, as she said her grits were utterly tasteless. When we received the check, I noticed we had been charged for the maple syrup. My wife wanted me to just let it be. If the food had been better, I might have. I mentioned the syrup issue to the cashier and she apologized, which I appreciated. However, she asked if I wanted to take the syrup home with me. I declined and told her I just wanted it with my meal. She had to get approval to remove the charge, but the manager asked her why I wasn’t just taking it now. She explained to him I didn’t want it because I wanted it with my meal. It seems a little silly to expect your customers to just take a small bottle of syrup home with them, because you forgot to give it to them with their meal and you’d rather get the $ 1.50…or push a few buttons. All in all, the staff was friendly, the place was clean and service was quick. The food just wasn’t all that great.

my family and I(party of 4) eat at Honey-Jam Café probably once every two weeks for a weekend breakfast. We love the food and have never had any issues with the staff. My kids usually go for waffles or pancakes, while my wife enjoys an omelet, and I love the corn beef hash skillet. I would highly recommend(and have to family and friends) Honey Jam Café

For a breakfast joint this place has it figured out. Banana Foster dessert with Nutella is my favorite by far. For breakfast I ordered eggs and bacon and a crazy badass pancake with blueberry jam on top of it amazing. I will go ahead and update my review next time to five stars as long as I get the same exact service quality.. Thank you

Took awhile for waitress to show up, asked For coffee(very weak) asked for Another still weak, food was not cooked right(over hard eggs where runny) over all not good ! Witnessed other tables with similar issues . We will not be returning !

We had a party in the party room recently and it was terrible. They weren’t prepared for us. We had one waitress for our crowd of about 35. She was out of the room more than she was in it so they must have been giving her tables in the restaurant as well. She was rude as could be too. I asked for coffee, got attitude, but no coffee. Waited 45 minutes, asked again, got more attitude and still no coffee. Eventually one of us took the carafe to the kitchen to get it filled ourselves. She was rude to everybody. Don’t take a job as a waitress if bringing customers a glass of water is too much for you to handle. It took well over an hour for anybody to get any food and by the time it was brought out, it was cold. My eggs were all crusted over on top like they’d been sitting there. It was gross. It probably took another 45 minutes before everybody finally got their food. If you know Sundays are busy and you know you have an event in the party room that had been reserved a month prior, there’s no reason you can’t be fully staffed.

This place needs some help. I do understand that’s it close to your closing time but customers should always come first. With a wait of 20 to 30 mins and more the 20 tables open it just doesn’t make sense. Everyone should help but you have 5 hostess standing up front, customers waiting to be seated and employees waiting to go home as more and more customers come in. Either get more help to handle the business or close on Sunday’s. Our hosts that sat us had no answer and a piss poor attitude as she just walked away. At least we have a great server(1 star) Greeted us right away and took out order. If I did not have two hungry kids I would have walked out.

Not impressed. Coffee was like warm. Actually think it was a previous table’s carafe. Hash browns were cold Monte Cristo was okay but nothing special. Chicken salad had mandarin oranges that tasted off. Long and short try some other place

Last day in the area, wanting a decent breakfast to start the day. I ordered the the skirt steak with hash browns, over easy eggs, and toast. I wanted the steak medium well, and the hash browns well done. They nailed it, steak was very good. hash browns were perfect. Even though the eggs were on the running side, it didn’t ruin the meal. Had more then enough portions. I was seated immediately, waitress was a little slow. Food came out pretty quickly though. Overall I had a really good experience, I recommend all the Unilocalers to give this place a try when you’re in the area.

Great atmosohrre, excellent service during Saturday morning rush. Loved the coffee pot and logoed mugs. Food was delicious. Pricey, but where isn’t breakfast pricey these days? Looking forward to going back.

I knew I should have voiced my preference of somewhere other than here, at a recent family outing, what a disappointment. Our server was attentive and a manager discounted our bill slightly, but serving up 4 cold dishes for breakfast, before a Sunday rush, was an epic fail. Obviously the kitchen has low standards. The group census was comical, as no one wanted the voucher for $ 15 off a future visit. Discounting the bill just 20% for such a huge disappointment, 4 of the 5 orders were served luke warm, was on the cheap side. The food is nothing special and not good enough for a return visit.

Great restaurant! Good portions and the customer service was great! The quality of the food is awesome and I was throughly impressed! If you are visiting the Illinois area around Plainfield or Bolingbrook then definitely give this place a go! Ill be back!

Went for breakfast this weekend and got in before the breakfast rush. Huge menu selection and great menu options for kids. I appreciate they leave a pot of coffee on the table so I don’t have to constantly flag down a waitress for a warm up. Husband had the«Madison sandwich» and I had the spinach scrambler crepes. Both were delicious and look forward to going back.

This place was great when it was owned by Portillos. Ever since they sold it to a new owner quality has gone downhill. Their breakfast burrito was great when they used authentic chorizo. I don’t know what they use now but it’s terrible. Not to mention, service really dropped. We could barely get the waiters attention any time we needed anything and it took him about 15 minutes just to say hello and get us some water. This is the third and consistent time I have been disappointed there. Three strikes, you’re out. We will not be returning anymore.

Place is really going down hill. They just fed me breakfast with a 2 foot black hair twisted through it. Then the waitress quickly takes it away and brings me the bill. Then the so called manager Patrick comes over to to say he credited just the food woth the hair in it. My guests couldn’t wat after seeing the nastiness of the hair and so on. The manager would not talk to me and walked away. Made me pay for the drinks and everything else. DONOTGOHERE. ITSAWFULNOW.

The caprese panini with chicken was cold. Cheese was cold, not close to melted, and the bread was white. No effort or pride was executed when preparing my meal. It looked sad on the plate. Cream of chicken with wild rice soup was the only saving grace-even the French fries were bad-stale, cold and hard. Unbelievable for noon on a Saturday.

There are a few items on the menu it is best to pre-order since they take longer than most items to prepare. Arriving 20 minutes before my companions were due, I took advantage of this by ordering one of these items. A full 20 minutes AFTER they arrived as my breakfast companions were being served(approximately 40 minutes after being ordered) the waitress informs me they were«out» of my selection, «would I like something else». This bothered me I asked why it took so long to inform me, she explained she was just told — after 40 minutes? I ordered eggs and hash browns. A few minutes later the same waitress brings out a «failed attempt» at my original order asking if I still wanted it. Now I’m confused — I was informed they were out. The manager comes over to take the blame. At this point I don’t care who is to blame, I’m hungry and I was lied too. The manager insists I was NOT lied too. Okay, customer is wrong… Not worth the aggravation, I’ll eat my breakfast elsewhere from now on. Poor management staff — Poor customer service This happened the morning of 7÷26÷2015 at the Bolingbrook location. I can be reached at 630270‑9156 if there are any questions. Do not attempt to placate me with any Honey-Jam incentives. I am a longtime customer that will NOT be returning.

Portillos has a breakfast place!!! Yes…yes, they do. It’s a cute little space. Menu is monstrous. They have tons of breakfast, brunch, & lunch choices for all of your desires. Our server was really cool. On too of the game. Thumbs up! The food was standard… good, not knock your socks off. Overall, I would stop back if I was in the area.
