Other Mothers

Other Mother’s is my last choice when it comes to children’s second-​hand stores. They have the smallest selection of clothing although what they do have is usually organized well. This store wouldn’t be quite so bad if the employees were more polite and weren’t always complaining about their co-​workers. I was in this store 3 weeks ago which was my first time back there since last Christmas. Nothing had changed in the grumpiness of the employees as they were discussing how lazy other employees were. I dropped off a box of children’s clothing and before I left they told me that they were backed up and wouldn’t get to my stuff for about a week and a half!!! It ended up taking just over a week and a half and they barely gave me a few dollars. Not worth the long wait when I could have gone to Kidz Again or Kid to Kid where they go through my stuff the same day I bring it all in. Even during the busy back to school weeks the longest Kidz Again has ever taken to go through my items is one day.

Great prices on name brand stuff if you’re into that. Their buying program is very harsh and, well, rude. As well, they didn’t make it clear that after you drop the clothes and they look through it to see if they want anything (which they pay nearly nothing for– you might has well give it to someone in need) but they donate the clothes to their church/​religious program (LDS) within 24 hrs. When I said maybe I didn’t want it to go to LDS church (we would rather it go to Idaho Youth Ranch or Goodwill) they took it as an attack on LDS personally. I thought that was strange.

Definitely one of the better consignment stores. Great selection of clothing, very reasonably priced and good quality. They carry a good selection of other baby items too. Found a bassinet for $ 30, that retailed for $ 100 in the store.

I consign here every almost exclusively because they pay the best prices for your clothes. I have given them some really nice things over the years so I am considered a VIP consigner. You just drop off your things and come pick them up later and they will tell you how much they are willing to give you in the form of store credit or check. From a purchasing standpoint, this is a great place to stock up on jeans and basics that you don’t need spend retail on.
