Love this spot. Laid back atmosphere, great pizza, great beer. Our service was spot on. I just wish they were closers to my house.

picked up a chicago style to go. The pizza was more like a normal pizza than a Chicago deep dish. It was ok but for the quality a bit overpriced.

This is a pretty great place. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. I’m a little put off by the bartender’s friends and significant others hanging out at the bar but I’m pretty awkward in public anyway. Great place to drink if you’re not willing to relegate yourself to smokey, crowded bars with 30 year regulars. I only drink with classy folk.

Whenever i get pizza cravings this spot always hits the spot, pizza tastes great! I always have a hard time deciding which specialty pizza to buy so I always end up doing half and half. Personally i prefer chicago style crust over thin crist. Atmosphere is good, tvs offer a variety of different things to watch for those that go solo. Havent tried their beer yet but I hear good things about them and it looks like they got a great variety to choose from.

It was a cold January evening, foggy and wet. When I had a hankering for some late night eats. So I jumped in my car and headed to Old Chicago. I finally settled on a few items that looked tasty. The first to show up was the deep fried pickles. They were crispy and had a great flavor to them, the red pepper sauce that came with them only made them better. They’re an excellent starter. The next item was the pepperoni rolls, those things are da bomb diggity. Pepperoni, ranch, cheese and green onion rolled in there dough and cooked. They’re always my favorite item to order here. The next items to come out were the pub pizza’s. Just your standard mini pizza. The crust was ok, nothing to write home about. There not bad, they just wouldn’t be my first choice to order again, but if you hit there late night happy hour, there only two bucks. So that’s a pretty good deal. For dessert I do recommend ordering the big chocolate chip cookie. It’s huge, it tastes great and it comes to the table in a deep dish pizza pan. I ordered a couple calzones to go. The all meat calzone and the combo calzone. Neither of the calzone’s were remarkable. My girlfriend said she would have preferred more pepperoni rolls instead of her combo calzone. I would have to agree with her. I tried a bite of the all meat calzone and I wasn’t impressed at all. Overall most of there food is good. Honestly though I prefer there appetizers over there entrees. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here but if I’m in the area during there happy hours, I would definitely stop in for some of there appetizers. Plus I do need to mention that the service was outstanding. My waitress was awesome.

My husband and me arrived at Old Chicago at Boise Towne Square just before noon on a Saturday. We were fortunate enough to be seated near a window, where it was fun to people watch at the mall entrance. First note, it was COLD in there. I realize they probably had not been open long, but you’d think a location inside a mall(versus a stand alone building) would retain more ambient heat. I had taken my coat off, but more than once thought of putting it back on. People around us had left their coats on. Also, I had visited the ladies room just after we were seated and made four observations: The door is so heavy you think it must be locked when you first push it. I ran the water in the sink for what felt like 5 minutes and it NEVER got hot for a hand washing, and only one of the motion activated paper towel dispensers was functional. Oh and the COLD. We had taken a chance coming to Old Chicago as neither of us wanted pizza, and you can never be sure about menu items that are outside of a restaurants main claim to fare, however we were NOT disappointed. Our server was prompt and took good care of us throughout the meal. We began with their ‘white bean dip’. Brought out on a platter, bowl of dip, with both toasted bread and fresh vegetables for dipping. My husband was initially surprised because he expected(like in a Mexican eatery) that the ‘dip’ would be hot(temperature) — but when I explained that it was rather along the same lines of hummus, he got the picture. Surprised me actually that he(who is among the pickiest of eaters on the PLANET) found himself enjoying it. The thick creamy dip with notes of garlic, olive oil and just a little kick of spice, was topped with what I can only call a fresh cucumber/tomato salsa. Cucumber slices, carrots, red and green bell peppers provided for dipping, along with said toasted(and dare I say a light garlic buttered?) bread. Again to my surprise, my hubby veered from his usual mode by ordering a club sandwich over a burger(seriously I wondered if aliens had replaced him with a pod person while I was in the ladies room), while I went with the chicken pesto panini. Fries on the side(current low carb régime shelved for a treat!) for both of us. Both sandwiches were well prepared, plentiful meats, cheeses(OMG the cheese on my panini was to die for) and condiments. Hubby’s club was perfectly toasted, the bacon thick and the turkey obviously roasted. The tomato was ripe and flavorful(yes I did a quality check lol). The lettuce seemed a bit lackluster, but his isn’t exactly the time of year when Iceburg lettuce is showing off it’s chlorophyll! We agreed heartily that the fries on both our plates were cooked to perfection. Each sandwich also came with some dill pickle chips. The chicken pesto panini. oh the panini. it’s 8am as I write this and I gave serious thought to being at Old Chicago’s front door when they open today for another of these sandwiches! On hearty sourdough bread that stands up well to the panini press, Chicken, pressed with onions, peppers and tomato with a HEAP of mozzarella and the perfect balance of a beautiful pesto. It was cut into quarters and plated with the fries. I had a salt shaker at hand because I am one who generally salts EVERYTHING. I found I didn’t need it, so complete was the melding of the flavors.(and did I mention the cheese?). ooey gooey and hot, the best thing to chase away some of the chill of that seating area. Our server kept our beverages topped off and was quick to remove empty plates, making sure that we were well cared for. Often I will find myself still a smidge peckish after a restaurant meal, but not this time. NOT. AT. ALL. We spent some time in the mall afterward stretching our legs, but the chat veered back to the exceptional lunch we enjoyed at Old Chicago. I hope with all my heart that your experience at this location is just as enjoyable! Buon appetito!

This location always has horrible service and I’ve never had a good experience. The downtown one is so much better and it’s such a shame. If you’re visiting Boise, avoid at all costs. It’ll leave a poor taste in your mouth.

How does a place called«Old Chicago» not offer an Italian Beef Sandwich???

Old Chi Town is generally a reliable place to get a high ABV beer to take the sting off spending too much money at the mall, which you hate going to anyway. Andrew and Alyssa behind the bar are friendly and attentive. There is a large variety of brews in bottle and draught so you can get a little of everything. They always have sports on and the clientele is chill. If I absolutely have to go to the mall, I always factor in a trip to Old Chicago.

We like to stop here for dinner on our way from Portland to Salt Lake City. The food is pretty good and has a selection that’s good for kids and picky eaters alike. Moreover, there’s tons of restaurants and store choices, a nice patio, and plenty of room to stretch your legs or even let a dog(or in our case cats) out to use the bathroom nearby.

I really wish we had one of these where I live. They have a hot and spicy pizza that is absolutely to die for for hot sauce, jalapeño loving people like myself. Good beer selection too and their ranch dressing is some of the best I’ve had. Good sized dining room and the two times I’ve been, the staff was always very friendly. My friend ordered a large size of one of their beers but was given the smaller size and our waitress went above and beyond to fix it. They’ll give you small tasters of any beer you want to try to but they will charge you for them so keep that in mind. if you’re in the mood for a big, thick, Chicago-style pizza I definitely recommend this place. It won’t disappoint.

The pizza. Holy shit the pizza. It’s not Chicago style. It’s Pizza Hut style pizza. I wish I would have read the review before I came here because a lot of people say the same thing but I did a Unilocal search for Chicago style pizza and this place popped up. And why wouldn’t it? It’s called Old Chicago style pizza(…and taproom). It’s criminally misleading. It’s a shame too because otherwise it’s a perfectly ok restaurant. Your standard Applebee’s type knockoff. Edit: Removed a star because we never got those coupons we were promised in the mail to make up for the awful pizza we had to choke down.

This place is darn decent. I kind of hate chain restaurants(Applebees, TGIFridays, Olive Garden, etc.), but about twice a year my wife goes to the mall and I’m too hungover to follow her around. So I sit, have the proverbial hair o’ the dog, and some damn spicy buffalo wings. They pretty much always turn that hangover frown upside-down. I’ve never had anything beyond beer and wings, but for some reason, their wings are some of the most legit I’ve had in a long, long time; they’re big, juicy and actually spicy. They have a terrific selection of beer, so something for everyone. Oddly enough, the music they play is pretty awesome. It’s rare for me to hear XTC anywhere I go, so that kind of impressed me(although, I’m pretty sure it’s just some Indy muzak station). Finally, waitstaff and bartenders are always friendly. As far as chain restaurants go, you could do much worse.

Old Chicago Overall: This is a pretty fun place to be. they are a little bit overpriced for what you are getting but it real is a great and fun atmosphere and with it being a 5 minute ride right off the freeway to Edwards its the perfect restaurant for a good date night. The Food: You can tell that whoever was the head chef writing the menu definitely didn’t care about the healthiness of the food but boy does it taste great. i ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. it was a great meal and it had its own unique taste. my wife ordered the Chicago style deep dish pizza and they was great too we really can’t complain. The Service: Great Service, No more and No less i would say service is about average here but nothing to knock your socks off. The Price: Our two meals came out to about $ 27.00 which i felt was a bit hit considering what we got but i would still be happy to got there again.

Not«real» Chicago food. If you’re looking for something to compare to Giodarno’s or Pizzaria Uno of Chicago, go somewhere else. This is only a step above pizza hut’s «deep dish». I also had the chicken/apple salad with vinaigrette. It was good but not as good as you find a Panera’s but not as bad as a fast food chain.

1. The changed the way they make the Thai pie pizza. If you ask them to make it the old way, they tell you the will have to charge you more than a specialty pizza. Why? Because it is special they say. 2. Service is always way slow, I have missed movie times because I unwisely chose to eat here. 3. Food is usually good. But prices are a little high for what you get.

While visiting family, my boyfriend and I stopped by here twice during our trip. My boyfriend talked about Old Chicago a few times as having really good deep-dish pizza. Since in California there is none, I wasn’t sure what to expect. For our first visit we each had the Lunch Box Calzone Combo. It was a bacon, ranch, chicken calzone. It was bake just right and was very filling. It was the perfect size for lunch. The second time we visited, we shared a medium Original«Chicago Seven» deep-dish pizza. It was great. I loved the crust of the pizza. It was very buttery. The pizza was flavorful and very filling for just two people. It was one of the best deep-dish pizzas I’ve ever had. The service was good. However at times our servers would disappear for long periods of time. When it came to refilling our drinks it was always after our meal was over. Regardless of that the experience was good overall. If we’re in the area again we will most likely stop by for the food.
