Every time I come to this store there are long lines… It feels as if the employees have no empathy for the customers. Hard to get help, and a lack of enthusiasm at this store… Very poorly managed. I have owned and managed several retail stores and these people are the worst… I would like to support local business but man they make it difficult… YIKES!!!

Trying to support local shops but coming here makes it extremely frustrating. The lines are always long and very inconvenient. I really hope that management does something about this as this is driving my business away. Customer service is always good and in some ways makes up for it, but when in a rush it can be difficult to not get upset

I’ve always shopped at this Hasting for many years because its in walking distance of my house. It’s a really fun place to come to even if your not planning on renting something because they have so much fun and unique merchandise. They did remodel the store not to long ago so the café is no longer there but it has been replaced with a bigger selection of books. They have just about anything there from movies cds and video games to books toys and clothing. Big rental selection of movies that are hard to find anywhere else. The staff is a friendly bunch but tend to gather in groups and talk to each other so it is hard to find someone nearby to answer any of your questions but when you get their attention they are more than willing to help assist you.

I hadn’t been to Hastings for a couple of years, but wound up stopping in with a friend on a whim. We spent about 2 hours browsing, laughing and just having a good time! Other than audio/visual media. Hastings carries some great quirky items and collectibles as well as musical instruments and even televisions! We were never made to feel like we were just wasting anyone’s time, and the couple of times we were approached by staff it was just to say hello and let us know that they were there if we needed help. We left with smiles on our faces and a pile of used CD’s. I’ll go back for other items. As much as I adore , it’s nice to have a local storefront to stop in to!

I’ve always like Hastings for its quirky merchandise, but ever since they redesigned and reorganized the store, I’ve become a regular. I was disappointed they got rid of their café, but the massive section of books and magazines has won me over. They have an impressive collection of books both new and used, magazines, toys, and other items they didn’t previously have. They are using their floor space much more efficiently and the store is always a pleasure to browse in. From silly phone cases and wallets to just about every meme and alternative indulgence, they’ve got a vice for everyone. I go here just to find cheap seasons of my favorite shows, used games, and magazines for cutting up and collaging with.

Glad I don’t have to come here to get my movie rentals anymore even though there prices have been extremely lowered. Still a good place to get books games etc if you need something urgent and can’t get on or another place online.

Hastings always has friendly staff who are very willing to help you find what you need. I love having a place in the Treasure Valley to go and rent old and current movies. Their selection of used DVDs is awesome I never pay full price anywhere else now!

Sometimes, when I’m looking for novelty items I will skip the mall in come here cheaper & front row parking. This by far the best one outta of the 3 in Boise. They need more cashiers kinda slow in that area.

Before eCommerce and streaming media, Hastings was the superstore of all things underground. You could always find weird used CD’s and special order just about anything that Fact Sheet 5 listed. Actually I’m not sure you could buy zines there, but it seems like you could. Fast forward to today’s hyper-mediated cyber-sphere, and it seems quaint that a corporate big box was a hot spot for culture on physical media that you acquired from a brick and mortar. I like to rent Blu-Rays and XBox games there. Good selection. You get a coupon for $ off of the game title if you decide to buy a copy. The magazine rack is a good place to stock up on reading material for the time when the cabin door closes and you reach 10k feet.

I like Hastings. It is still one of the rare places that you can rent movies in person, which I applaud. Sometimes you just need a movie when you need it, and Redbox has a pretty limited selection of newer titles. It may not have the selection of a Barnes and Noble for books, but when you combine it with a good music selection and video rental business, we still find ourselves coming here often.
