My boyfriend and I stopped while traveling through Boise and enjoyed their full flight of 12 beers. We liked all 12!!! This is extremely rare as we are beer enthusiasts and do not generally care for barley wine style craft beers. I would be a regular here if I lived in Boise!

Absolutely outstanding! With a wide selection of craft brews and great menu this place is rocking Boise. The RyePA is crisp and mildly hopped; very, very easy to drink. Caramel Stout is awesome as well. Had the tenderloin sandwich special last week which was great and am anxiously awaiting my sun-dried tomato salmon wrap today. Love this place!

Visited on a recent business trip. Enjoyed all the house beers I tried and felt the foot was ample, well prepared and good value for the money. Exactly the kind of small business that cares about its product that the world needs more of! Someday I hope they can find a more fun location than in the middle of a gunky strip mall. but considering I was on a biz trip, it felt like quite the find!

A legit spot. Great beers, great food. Their dark beers are delicious, and I don’t usually go For dark brews. The menu isn’t small, but is also not overwhelming. The thing, everything on there is delicious. Be sure to check this spot out. The patio is great In the summer but it also has a cozy, warm vibe in the winter.

Kale Caesar salad is Delicious! They char the kale first? Giving it this amazing smoky flavor! The potato kielbasa kale soup was so good my 2 year old ate most of it. Great Cheeseburger. And I loved the pumpkin ale!

This place is excellent! While out here in Boise for vacation I’ve eaten at Bittercreek, Bardenay, Mazzah, Highland Hollow, and like 15 other places. This has been the best food so far!

Cloud Nine is one of the best beer+lunch spots in Boise. Their food is consistently impressive(I recommend the Asian salad with salmon, yummm), and their beer is just lovely. They have a large selection and rotate what’s on tap so you can often find something new. Some noteworthy brews are the Gentlemen Prefer Blonde(well-rounded and refreshing), the Amber(quite hoppy and not overly malty), and the DIPA(when you’re looking for something with a bit more POW! KAZZAM! BAM!). One of the best parts about this place is the fact that they brew on site, so you can watch them make their magic… and oh my goodness, the smell of malt and freshly pitched hops… it melts me.

We love this place. It’s our neighborhood hang. It is the kind of place that reminds us of little pubs in the northeast… except with the added bonus that they brew their own amazing beer! So, the beer. Fantastic. How they keep up such an amazing rotation of brew with that tiny nano brew space is beyond my understanding. The Salted Caramel Stout is hands down the best. But I love their one off imperial styles as well. All of the beer selections are interesting and very tasty. I haven’t been fond of the lighter end of the spectrum beer offerings. But those aren’t generally my cup of tea anyway. There’s really something for everyone in terms of beer and food. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. The regular menu offerings are fantastic. We also have enjoyed many of the nightly specials. The salads are fresh. The salmon is always stellar. The burgers are just right. One of the best burgers in town. It has been fun getting to know the staff and owners. They are all such nice folks. Excellent service. The vibe in there is laid back and fun. It’s such a tiny but cozy space. And we love the patio action in the warmer months. Could Nine is such a winner.

Had the Salmon sandwich with kale Cesar salad, really good, lots of flavors from the salmon, paired with a west coast IPA

Visually, this spot is great. Somewhat industrial with the metal worked tap handles, chairs, and concrete bar top. Chalkboard menu was slick and the brewing equipment visible from the dining area. I support any place that brews there own beer too. Though I didn’t eat there, the menu items sounded delicious and inventive. So why two stars? The beer just didn’t sit with me very well. I had their American IPA first and it had a strange after taste I couldn’t put my finger on. I thought that maybe I got a weird glass or something, so I tried their double black IPA next. It was much better, but still slightly off. I love supporting local beers and I wanted to like this place a lot. I’m the type to always get back up on the horse, so if I’m in the area again, I would at least give them another shot, but as it stands now, I wasn’t blown away like I was hoping to be.

I was really hopeful about both the beer and food at Cloud 9 after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience differed than most. I ordered the Black IPA which was not much of an IPA but more of a full bodied porter. Not what I was expecting but the best beer of the night. I went out on a limb to try the Honey Basil Ale – not usually my beer of choice but based on such high reviews I was willing to try. It was not drinkable. Flat and watery with a taste of honey only. I went to the bar to tell my less than responsive server to ask for a replacement. She passed off my complaint suggesting the beer needed carbonation. Well, yes it did! No commentary or explanation needed. I ordered the 7 Grain Porter as a replacement. Not very memorable. The food was just ok. The lamb burger was over cooked when I had ordered medium. The side grilled kale Caesar salad with croutons and dressing were the saving grace and the buns were good too.

I really wanted to love this place. I’m all about supporting the local, and these guys do local and are loved by locals. Our Air B&B hosts recommended them enthusiastically. I was excited to learn that Cloud 9 is the only certified organic brewery in Idaho: Yay! Unfortunately, it just wasn’t what I’d hoped. Our server was a smart ass from the get-go — which can be okay if there’s a tinge of humor behind it, but I wasn’t feeling that. We wanted to sit outdoors, luckily, given that there were no tables available inside. It had rained an hour or so earlier, so I asked her to wipe the seat down. She proceeded to mop up the puddles on the table instead, then grudgingly gave a cursory swipe to the seat when prompted, saying it would do no good and she didn’t have«a magic cloth.» Next, the beers… I was excited to try two of them. First up, the Earl Grey Stout. There was a tinge of smoke but no hint of bergamot, and after trying my companion’s black IPA, a much richer and more full-bodied brew, I wondered if our server hadn’t confused the glasses. Drinkable but not memorable. I ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese and fries and asked that it be cooked medium rare. It came well done, which was sad for such quality beef. Same with my friend’s lamb burger: she asked for medium and received well-done, so perhaps that was the cook’s setting for the night. Oh, well: I can eat beef however it is presented, so I didn’t complain. The fries, BTW, were excellent, and the ketchup tasted homemade(nicely spiced). On to the Salted Caramel Stout. Sounds lovely, but honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference between it and the Earl Grey. Again, drinkable, but forgettable. The worst part of it all was my companion’s Honey Basil Ale: completely flat, and it tasted like drinking water with a bit of honey added. Friend asked that it be replaced and the server argued with her, saying it «just needed carbonation.» Huh? Yes, it was flat, reason enough to send it back. The replacement finally came, and again was utterly forgettable. We ordered desserts, and my crème brûlée was passable. Altogether a disappointing experience. Normally I’d assume it was just an off night, given all the raves, and would try it again. I’m headed home tomorrow, though… And not entirely certain I would go back for more.

Finally tried the double IPA and salted caramel stout. Without sounding like a jerk, hopefully, they weren’t my favorite brews by Cloud 9, but they were definitely quaffable. The food still rocks it out and I think the daily specials are getting better(looking, anyway, as I still stick to my tacos and wilted kale caesar salad). New complaint: any time we come after sundown, THERE’S NOT A TABLETOBEFOUND! This place is just killing it, so we either have to plan ahead or show up during the day(which is great on a Sunday after a run through Anne Morrison or a hike behind Camel’s Back Park). Can’t wait for warmer weather and more daylight, when we can utilize their patio seating.

Solid beers here with full flavor. We did a sampling, and my favorite was their salted caramel stout — just the right combo of sweet and smoky. I also enjoyed the blonde, which was refreshing but still flavorful. Wasn’t a huge fan of the pumpkin ale — had an odd aftertaste. And the roggenbier didn’t quite live up to expectations, but to be fair, I am comparing against Reuben’s in Seattle, which I think has the yummiest Roggenbier this side of the galaxy. The location is in an old strip mall, so not an A+ for ambiance. However they have done a great job with this space. The day’s beer selections are listed on cute chalkboards behind the bar, and there are TVs to catch the day’s game. Service was friendly and attentive, and all-in-all we had a fun experience here.

Nano brewery and brew pub with small menu of items made from mostly organic and sustainable ingredients with friendly people working there and an «all are welcome here» vibe has limited indoor seating and outdoor patio for drinking and dining in nice weather located in a strip mall in the North End. There were many things to like here, Were I of the neighborhood I might make this a regular stop. In fact on the day of my hubby’s and my late lunch visit to Cloud 9 it seemed as if the fifteen or so folks who were present when we arrived and the dozen or so still present when we left who ranged in age from toddlers to septuagenarians seemed to be neighborhood folks. We can see why this could be a convenient and welcoming gathering place for them. But it would not necessarily be a destination place for us again. Here’s why: *Although the food was a good value(lunch for two plus two root beers was only about $ 21) and good enough in flavor it was not so good as to make us want to go back for food alone. As example, some of the salad greens had seen fresher days but the salad dressing was delicious. The sweet potato soup was good but not better than I can do at home. *We don’t drink beer, so that wouldn’t be our destination draw here and while their house brewed root beer was interesting enough, it was not so interesting that we’d have it again. It was also served too warm, nearly room temperature. *While the servers, two on duty and one tended bar as well, were friendly the service ws so inefficient that even with arrival just before 2:00 and few orders coming out of the kitchen, it seemed folks there were mostly enjoying libations, it took well over an hour for lunch. Much of the time spent waiting to have our order taken and then waiting on the soup and salad and simple sandwich to come out of the kitchen. So while we’re unlikely to return ourselves as destination and not sure we’d recommend it to others as destination, we would recommend this as convenience if you’re in the neighborhood anyway. THIS N THAT 1) PARKING: Ample amount in strip mall lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and all on one floor. Standard height tables line the wall. 3) MINORS: Welcome to be seated at tables but not at bar seating. 4) PATIO: Seemed pretty nice to us but our server said they were improving it to add bench seating around the perimeter and replace the currently rented tables and chairs with something more hip. 5) TIMINGISEVERYTHING: Noting some reviewers talk about packed house here, if you’re looking for lots of open seating, mid afternoon, like 2:00-ish is a good time for few people. 6) GREATNEIGHBOR: Janjou Patisserie is right next door. Now THAT is a destination stop!

Cloud 9 is an awesome name. And, if you order their Bleu Cheese Fries, it’s not only an awesome name, it’s apt. Came here on a Thursday night for a UYE I organized where 8 – 10 people were expected. They don’t take reservations, so I got there a ½ hour early to try to get enough seating for us all. The two servers who were working were so completely lovely and accommodating – as the place began to fill and I’m by myself hoarding a table for 8. Seriously. I realize in a place this small, my table saving wasn’t terribly convenient and so I really appreciated their understanding. So, having said that – I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place if you’ve a large group. They’ve only just recently opened and word has spread quickly, as they are standing room only on most Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights. But, my people, great energy abounds in this place. It’s a true neighborhood joint hidden in the back of the strip mall by the original Albertson’s. And, though I’m not a beer drinker, my main dining companion is a big fan of their salted caramel stout. Their food menu isn’t expansive but what is there is quality and farm to table fresh. Plus, not to look like a complete dork to all you beer drinkers – but their nano-brewed root beer is pretty dang fabulous. Really! Even for grown-ups. What else? I did mention the fries drenched in creamy bleu cheese sauce and topped with bleu cheese and bacon crumbles? And, it’s ability to transport you directly to the metaphorical Cloud 9, while you sit in the literal Cloud 9? Then, my people, I have nothing more to say. If bleu cheese and bacon crumbles don’t sway you – nothing will! Get to it!

Cloud 9 is doing things right! Fresh beer, fresh food, fresh atmosphere! Very cool! Boise’s first nanopub is a most welcome addition to the seemingly rapidly expanding food scene here in our little corner of the world. Cloud 9 fits right in, in its North End locale, with offerings of organic, locally sourced food and beverages. Yes, their food and beverage menu is small… they are after all a nanopub. But what they are peddling is top notch. Well done indeed! I will be back, with friends.
