Really expensive for a drive-in restaurant and not even good burgers and I must have gotten a bad shake because I was seriously mad after I had it. Sister restaurant(Fanci Freeze) is much better but just as expensive. I live by this place and I won’t frequent it.

This is a wonderful place, deserving of all our greasy food wants and yes, needs. If Big Bun were a girl, she would be a hot mama, and I would marry her.

Big Bun is another classic burger joint in Boise. I personally enjoy these types of places. I know there’s so many new and fancy places to grab food now days, but sometimes I just want a classic. When I go here it brings back memories of going to places like these with my Grandparents. So I think I will start with my favorite burger of there’s the Big Tom –2 quater pound patties, cheese, bacon, ham, mayo, lettuce and tomato. This is a big tasty burger. I recommend giving it a shot if you like big burgers. It’s not a big juds burger, but its a pretty decent burger. I also recommend the finger steaks. There very tender and delicious. My only complaint is that you only get 4 in a meal. I feel for the price maybe 1 or 2 should be added, but that’s only my opinion. My dining companion really enjoys there Turkey burger and they also have decent onion rings. I always recommend going with a scotch n soda or a green river at these restaurant’s. I have yet to get a bad one. I guess I should finish up with one of there most important items, there milkshakes. This is where I differ from many others. The milkshakes are ok, but there’s something about there ice cream that I don’t care much for. My dining companion enjoys them so to each there own. I fully recommend giving Big Bun a shot.

Since moving to the area we have become regulars here. Highly recommend the fish sandwich or the turkey burger. Pumpkin milkshake is one of my favorites! Can’t give a full 5 stars as sometimes the customer service is lacking.

Big bun is a solid place. I’d say they have the best shakes compared to similar places. Burgers and tots are good, but a little pricey for the quality and freshness you get. Stop in for food if you’re in the neighborhood, make a special trip for the shakes.

Came back to try the finger steaks… unimpressed! For almost $ 11, their finger steak«dinner» is a complete rip off. I’ll add pics, either reduce the price or increase the smattering of fries or the number of finger steaks.

Second trip here in a month, this time to take kids. Food is good and not a million dollars to feed the kids. Sat outside and it was nice in there but could do without the flies. They offer a military discount which also was pretty cool. Seems to be a Boise hit. Will return.

Great burgers. We had the mushroom swiss with bacon. Fries are really great as well. I would strongly recommend the Scotch & Soda. That is if shakes aren’t your thing, don’t pass up their shakes!

I’m sure the food here is awesome but I wouldn’t know. As I got there at 10:15 last night and tried to order food. Apparently 11pm is closing time except for winter. Then it’s 10:00pm. I’m not sure if big bun knows, but there is a season between summer and winter called autumn or fall. It is not winter. Therefore winter hours don’t yet make any sense. They should also post their new hours on this information portal known as the Internet. Also, if you are closed, turn the lights off. Would love to make a good review sometime. But can’t imagine going to a place that does not know of the fall season.

Dinner was good. Service time was reasonable given they cook to order. Really finger steaks are to die for as are The Boston shakes. I had the cafferty. Which is a finger steak sandwich.

Having lived in the area for many years I always drove past this place but never stopped. well one day I did and I am happy for that. It’s a nice little local burger and more place, And I am all about the local places. There best deal is usually the special of the day which consists of some type of burger fries or totes and a drink for around 6 bucks after taxes. then of course you can’t forget the milkshake which I will say is probably 1 of the best in the valley and the selection of flavors is over the top. there service isn’t the fastest which can mean a couple things, but I like to thinks it’s cause there taking there time with my order and making everything fresh. also there prices are a bit on the higher side when it comes to other local places but still cheaper or as expensive as most chain restaurants. do yourself a favor and stop in for a burger tots and a shake and you will thank me later

I actually really enjoy the food here. The burgers are great, very juicy. I usually go with the double bacon burger. Side items have always been fresh and tasty. The bad: Everything is overpriced. Getting special orders correct is hit and miss, so I saved myself the trouble and just order straight off the menu. Last but certainly not least, they are outrageously slow making the food. I’ll eat there again eventually, but I certainly won’t be going out of my way for this place.

Usually love fancy freez and big bun but I got some tots and poppers this evening and the tots were cold in the middle and the poppers were still frozen in the middle. what a waste of money.

I live by this joint. I’ve run through the drive through a bunch. Getting your order correct here is like winning the lotto. I’m 0⁄3 on getting what I ordered on my last three trips through the drive through. I order my meal«Small fry and a hamburger with meat, lettuce and bun only, please.» Sometimes I get ketchup. Sometimes I get cheese. Sometimes I get it without lettuce. What I always get is a huge hassle when I go back to try and get what I actually ordered. First they want to make it very clear, you ordered wrong. They always make a point to say«we heard plain» or «we heard cheeseburger». I never really have an argument here. I know you got it wrong. That’s why I drove all the way back here while everyone else in my family is at home eating. I always just say«that may be true, but what I actually said was«meat, lettuce, bun only». Then I just repeat it over and over like Rain Man until they walk away. Next someone else will call you back to the window to tell you«we can’t remake the whole order». It doesn’t matter if you never asked them to. They will make it very clear that under no circumstances will they remake the whole order. «I not asking for that. Just the burger made wrong and some new fries to go with the new burger.» What’s that you say? You want to eat your whole meal at the same time?!? In my opinion, since I don’t eat any of the fries and bring them back with the burger, getting my whole meal warm at the same time is reasonable. That is not the Big Bun philosophy. One time they called me back up to ask me if there was something wrong with the fries too. I usually just offer to buy new fries. You gotta pick your battles and you can’t argue with crazy. If you don’t want to make dinner and live close by, drop in for average drive through food. Just don’t be all pushy about getting what you ordered. The whole debate team works here and they don’t give a rip how you like your burger. To be fair, one of the seventeen times I brought my incorrect order back, they offered to give me a milkshake. So there is that.

I’ve visited this Big Bun before with no problems… I hate to say that this visit was a complete disappointment… I ordered a bag of burgers, and wanted 3 with no mustard as I am not supposed to have it. When I got home all of the burgers had mustard on them. We also ordered a Peanut Butter Cup, Heath Bar shake, which they made as a peanut butter cup, hot fudge one. They gave us that one, which was cool but the one they remade for us was also wrong. The fries tasted old and when I’ve ordered a Jumbo Cherry Lemonade before I actually got a jumbo. The one I got today was more like a large and had four cherries in it, they usually have WAY more. Seeing how it was raining and I’ve been ill I did not feel like going back out of the house to fix all of the mistakes and I shouldn’t have to. I hate to say it, but I’m pretty sure Big Bun just lost my business forever. Tldr; Nothing but mistakes and old tasting food.

I’ve never actually had any food here but I’m assuming it’s similar to the non-chain fast food restaurants like Fanci Freeze and Hawkins Pac-out. The ice cream choices they have are wide spread and they all are pretty darn good. I’d recommend you check out the Oreo ice cream it melts my heart and in my mouth. Service is always quick.

This place used to be so much better. Now it’s average. Gone now is the delicious finger steak burger and the fresh and delicious fish sandwich. The tots, fries, onion rings etc have all been replaced with average frozen food you can find in a gas station. The prices also much higher than what they once were. Wish the family who made this place so good didn’t sell it off.
