First time I’m reviewing a physician, but I’m comfortable doing so. Having held a senior position at the National Institutes of Health in Washington DC for more years than I’d like to admit,(and partnered to an RN), I think I’ve got a decent idea of what makes for good physicians in today’s managed care, high volume, limited-time-with-patients environment. Rolando Rodriguez is an exceedingly sharp physician with astute clinical skills. He is well trained, Columbia Med School grad, internship and residencies in NY. His specialty(and that of his practice) is metabolic disorders, focusing on diabetes. With 25+ years in this south FL practice, I’m impressed with his keen interest in current trends and research findings in his field. Basically, he «knows his stuff», and explains disease management and proper diet and medication regimens well. He welcomes, actually, elicits questions from his patients. He is from the old school, listens to his patients, charts afterwards, looks you in the eyes when he speaks with you, and remembers what you’ve shared with him. It’s a busy practice(don’t go to the Delray Beach office, it’s pathetically cramped and no one in the waiting room is under 85), but Boca Raton is well managed. Appointments sometimes start late but you get more face time than you’d expect. So, if you need a specialist in this area or a family member does, you’ll be impressed with Dr Rodriguez.
