Bosley – Hair Restoration

I will try my best to give a fair assessment of Bosley in general. The consultations, both locally in Jacksonville and in Boca were great. They were informative, friendly, and thorough. The staff in Boca were extraordinarily friendly, skilled, and took very good care of me. In fact, the surgical experience was top-​notch. So, why 1-​Star? Simply there were things not explained that I had to figure out on my own later, and only after it was too late. It is VERY important for you to understand that the results of density post transplantation will depend on how much hair you still have and how much you have to donate. But if you were as bald as I was, there really is no «restoration» as much as «you’re going to be LESS bald». But you’ll be paying thousands – and I mean THOUSANDS– to be just well, less bald. Something that really isn’t mentioned during consultation, or course.
Furthermore, the followup was not NEARLY as friendly as my original consultations. The doctor was a bit aloof and seemed not to care much for my concerns moving forward. The consultation guy was left in the room with me, and almost seemed to feel sorry for me having experienced what had just occurred. He then recommended using «Toppik» or whatever it was called – that stuff you sprinkle on your head. He basically said «well now you have SOME hair it can use». Okay, fair. But I just paid $ 8000, so really?
My suggestion to whether you want to move forward with hair transplantation is to REALLY know what your BEST hopes of restoration will look like in the end. If you’re so bald that your best hope is to look like you’re less bald, then so be it. Basically you’ll pay thousands to go from bald to balding. But to each his own, I guess. Then again, if you’re simply thinning, then restoration might actually do what it advertises to do. In that sense, restoration may be right for you. But it’s my opinion that Bosley really should have a «cut-​off point” – to say, you’re just too bald for restoration. Basically «We can make you look LESS bald, but that’s the best we can do… unless you want to have multiple procedures, of course, and even then, we can’t make any promises.» Which is basically what the doc told me AFTER my surgery.
Anyways, I shave my head now. I shave my head and have a HUGE scar. But bald is better then balding. So was it worth $ 8000?
