Went there close to closing, but the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Sat at the bar and Sushi chef Kevin prepared wonderful fresh sashimi and sushi. His hand rolled offerings were creative and delicious as well. I will definitely go back for the great food and and kind hospitality.

PAINFULLY slow service. The food was good, the lunch box is a nice deal, but it took over 30 minutes for it to come out and there were only 5 or so other people in the restaurant. I’ll be back for the 2.95 sushi but I HOPE that the wait isn’t as bad.

AWFUL service and horrible staff. There are never any customers inside. I’m surprised they are still in business.

Absolutely love this place! It’s hands down the best sushi in Bluffton. We hit up the happy hour every week for low price rolls, drinks and apps. They have happy hour prices EVERYDAY from 4 – 6.

Only second time here but each time was a hit. We hardly eat out with the three kids but we have come here with them and they have eaten everything put in front of them. Very unusual for our kids. The wife and I really love sushi and it is great here. Fresh and tasty. Presentation top notch. Funny both times we came we were the only ones here but don’t let that scare you off.

I hated this place. Here’s why. Reviews by others coaxed us here. We trust other Unilocalers. Not sure if we just went on an off night or what, but I will NOT spend my money here again. A little pricier than our usual Japanese restaurant that is very good. We walked in to place an take out order. They told us 15 – 20 minutes. It took 55 minutes to get our order. Whatever did we order that could take that much time, let me tell you. Seafood curry and 2 spicy tuna rolls. Aost an hour. Seriously. I hated the rolls. They did not match the description and when something is titles fried spicy tuna roll, you would expect SOME part of the roll to be fried… nope. it was sloppy when I picked it up with chopsticks and fell apart too my husband had the curry and was happy with that. We visit the area and try new places to us but this one is marked off my list. We had friends order not long after us and their order took just as long. They were served with extremely over cooked beef rolls and hibachi steak. even though is was requested medium rare it came out very well done and tastes like liver. Why I’m earth this took so long I have NOIDEA. And the kicker… WEWERETHEONLYONESTHERE… ANDFORTAKEOUT! Very unhappy and dissatisfied.

Great deals! Come for lunch or happy hour(4 – 6) to get good drink and sushi specials. The sushi is well rolled and the soup is good. My younger sister loved the hibachi chicken as well!

my husband and i must have gone on a off night. it was a Tuesday and we where the only people there. I ordered three rolls and the hubs got hibachi, both of us got the mushroom soup which was lack luster, unfortunately his was amazing but my three rolls where terrible, two of the three had no flavor at all and the third had flavor but was fishy. I had no idea how bad everything was until I got home later that night and spent most of the evening throwing up. we went because of the rave reviews we found here on Unilocal but we will not be returning.

Worst sushi I have had in along time. Even the cucumber roll was bad(I didn’t think that was even possible.) yuck

Been sitting here for almost 2 hours waiting for our food! Awful service. One hostess/waitress for entire restaurant on Valentines Day/Saturday night. Too bad because in the past food has been good.

The only positive thing about this place is it’s inexpensive. When I came here I order two rolls. One eel, and the other smoked salmon. I specifically told the waitress no cucumber in the eel and afterwards i said no cucumber or cream cheese in any of my rolls. Well, I ended up getting a load of cucumber in salmon roll, barely any salmon in it. When i told her i didn’t want any cucumber, she said you didn’t want it in your eel. I said no cucumber at all. She gave me an attitude and she said she will change the order. Later on, she went to say negative things about me in Japanese to the sushi chef who was standing right in front of me. I understood her because I know a little Japanese myself. Frankly, I hate to give a business a bad review but if business has an attitude problem, then they deserve it.

I have to say I went by the reviews from Unilocal prior to going to this place attempted to call several times to order my food ahead of time with no answer it just rang the place was only a short distance where I was so I went to place my order the staff at the desk was rude when I attempted to order something that was on their menu that she said they never had even when I showed her it was in the menu she basically blew me off .the place was empty and run down and the food was unfortunately not what I expected I will not be going back

Quiet. Quaint. Excellent staff and fabulous sushi. Doesn’t really get better than this around here. And I’m terribly picky.

I went to Fujiyama years ago when it first opened… gave it a rave rating then. I am now back in town after being gone for a few years so I decided to try it again. The Spicy Kani salad is a must have and is still good. The bottom line, the food is still good but the surroundings have seemed to go downhill. It somehow has gotten dingy… from the hanging sign outside that has fallen over and has turned green with mold… to the inside where it just looks tired now. It looks like a dying restaurant… but its not because of the food or the service. They are both quite good. The owners should just stop and spruce it up… and advertise. This is a hidden gem… hope it doesn’t die.

Very clean place and great service. Super nice people. A bit too much money for the size of the sushi. My sister and I got 4 rolls and a shumai and it was 62 dollars. I don’t pay that much at Katsuya in Los Angeles where I live. If you don’t mind paying a lot, then this is the place to go.

I had the maki roll lunch special and my wife had the hibachi. We both thought it was ok. My wife said next time she would ask them not to put so much sauce on her chicken and veggies. The service was great and quick. We went around 2pm so there weren’t many people there. We’ll probably go back again.

I live in Charleston but work in Bluffton from time to time. I’ve always passed Fujiyama and finally went. My co-worker and I went for dinner around 8pm. We were the only people in the restaurant which made us a little apprehensive. We were quickly proven wrong. The service and food was delicious. I’ll definitely be making it a place I visit when working nearby. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was that they were out of a few beers that were listed on the menu.

I wish I knew the Japanese word for phenomenal or stupendous(or any Japanese word for that matter!). We decided to venture out of Hilton Head to go to Fujiyama due to the reviews(thanks fellow Unilocalsters!). The staff was incredibly kind and patient as we looked over the menu of 2,350.6 different types of sushi rolls. Service was fast, food was beautiful and some of the most delicious sushi I have experienced. We had a generous sampling of various rolls, if you go I personally suggest the jumbo lobster roll(if I were a lobster, I’d aspire to be in this dish rather than a nasty ol’ red lobster boiling pot). It has such a great, fresh flavor and wonderful spicy-yummy-lick the plate sauce. There are also standard rolls and typical japanese dishes such as teriyaki chicken etc. and a hibachi grill for the sushi faint of heart. They offer wonderful appetizers(tempura shrimp and vegetables and roasted duck spring roll are the bee’s knees) and good soups. Don’t worry about bringing cash, they accept cards, and vise versa if you are adverse to charging everything and almost peeing your pants when you get the statement. All in all, this was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Domo Arigato Fujiyama! We love you!
