We had a better experience staying here about a month after Kathy H. from St. Louis’s stay. Check in was fast. There was a luggage cart for us to use to haul all of our bags up to our room. The only glitch in our stay was that as soon as we looked into the bathroom, we noticed that there was water leaking at the base of the toilet. We called the front desk. They asked us to bring down the key for this room and they would assign us to a different room. We did as they asked and they gave us the room right across the hall. That room was perfectly acceptable. We appreciated the large refrigerator and regular size microwave in the room. We had sufficient towels for 3 people. We did not use the pool or take advantage of the free breakfast. The room was very quiet so we slept well. Check out was fast.

I have stayed in gross motels once or twice in my life. This is not the worst place I’ve been but there is a huge amount of opportunity to improve here. I would guess this place has been remodeled fairly recently. The newness of the décor helps hide what appears to be lackluster cleaning. There was dust on the tops of the TV cabinets. I found dark hairs in the bathtub and in our bed. There were several pieces of trash behind and under the sofa. When I was checking around beds as we were packing up, I also noticed similar situations around the bottoms of the headboards. I suspect that as this hotel ages, it will become more obvious how much they aren’t doing unless they start stepping up their efforts. We stayed in a suite where there was a door to the bedroom. Unlike every other suite I’ve been in, there was no separate HVAC for the bedroom. The only way to appropriately heat or cool it is to run the common room element at a very high or low temp so that some of that climate controlled air would make its way to the bedroom. It would be difficult to find a temp that would create comfortable conditions for both a bedroom and a sofa-bed occupant. Thankfully, we were there at a time of year when it wasn’t too hot so we got by with open windows. I would hate to find out what this is like in the height of summer or winter! There is an indoor pool but it is NOT heated(or if it is, they had the heating element off during our stay). I’m not even sure if the pool space is climate controlled at all. It certainly didn’t feel like it. It only took us one round of hypothermia to figure out why no one was using it. On the whole, staff seemed nice except that the maid refused our request for extra towels. I have never had any hotel staff refuse that request anywhere. The free breakfast is pretty standard fare, not great but acceptable. On the plus side, wi-fi was free with an access code from the front desk and seemed to work ok.
