I grew up going to Kilwin’s and I go back every time I go back to my hometown. They are even better than I remember. They have definitely become more creative over the years and now I can’t order anything but the chocolate, caramel, cashew ice cream. I tasted one of their new best sellers, the salted caramel, and it was fantastic, but I had to go with my old favorite! The candies in there are also fabulous, especially the chocolate covered graham crackers. I just can’t seem to find anything there I don’t like. One word of warning: Don’t even walk by if you don’t want to tempt yourself because the smell wafting out of there makes it impossible to resist!

Duh, any place that serves handmade fudge alongside chocolate and ice cream should automatically get five stars in my book. It’s the experience, the people and the taste. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about Kilwin’s. This is a perfect place for a treat for the entire family. Everything from specialty chocolates, ice cream, fudge, caramel apples, bark, chocolate dipped everything… I mean come on. It’s a fat kid’s dream. Plus you get to taste whatever fudge you want and they have samples of almost everything else. Kilwin’s is a little slice of heaven.

Kilwin’s is spectacular and has so many different sweets to choose from. Every time I am in Blowing Rock I try to swing by at least once. Last night I got a scoop of salted caramel in a waffle cone. The ice cream is so dense and creamy, and the added flavors are always tasty. The caramel was gooey and perfectly salted, and the waffle cones are generously sized and sweet. I try to get a different flavor of ice cream each time I come and I have never been disappointed. I have also bought fudge from here. I’ve tried the Kilwin’s mud, turtle, and chocolate pecan fudges. They are almost as good as home made, with nice big chunks of nuts. They also run a buy 2 slabs, get one free promotion with the fudge so it is easy to try lots of flavors. The pecan brittle is probably my favorite confection from here. Sweet and buttery with chunks of salted pecans. Amazing! The staff here is always super friendly and efficient. Beware though… the line gets super long in the evenings so you might be waiting a while to get your ice cream.

Wow! It’s good but not good enough to warrant the wallet raping(truly). Beware of how they list their prices… the waffle cone prices are first, which leads you to believe that’s all they offer. Not true! The less expensive prices are underneath… and a waffle cone adds $.85. The single is $ 5. It’s not really worth the amount they’re charging… plus a long line and really no where to sit and enjoy your treat. I’ll pass next time! My husband and I ordered a double and split it to make it less expensive overall.

Stopped in to Kilwin’s after dinner and the line was OUTTHEDOOR! You know they’re doing something right if it seems like everyone in town is in this place. As we were standing in line to get served our ice cream there was an associate working behind the candy counter who offered us free samples of the fudge. He even let us try more than one flavor. I got the banana fudge pie ice cream in a waffle cone. The ice cream was delicious but the in house made waffle cones steal the show for me. A few of the people with me got the salted caramel flavored ice cream which seemed like it was one of their most popular flavors.

THis is one of the bigger Kilwin’s locations. They have a lot more flavors of fudge which you can sample for free. I had the single origin chocolate fudge and it was really good. A little less sweet than their regular fudge. I love their ice cream and tried one of their single origin chocolate flavors. It was amazing. I loved how rich and dark it was. For color I had rainbow sprinkles as my topping. Their ice cream is not the creapest but one scoop is large and rich it is all you need, They have tables to eat inside but I would suggest to take your treats to the park acoss the street.

Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Blowing Rock, NC. March 28th. The calendar says, Spring, the temperature in Blowing Rock is 27 degrees. The wind is blowing 25 m.p.h., and there’s snow on the ground. I guess the high country missed the«Spring» memo, and wind chill does not discriminate. It’s funny to see the beautiful Emerald Green fairways of the nearby golf courses, and to see their sand traps filled with snow. I think that the word is «in-congruent.» It was also in-congruent to see the town full of tourists on such a cold day. All parking spaces are taken on main street, which is not a rarity. I made use of the small parking garage two blocks away, and within chilly walking distance. Kilwin’s is absolutely chock-a-block filled with tourists eating ice cream on a 27 degree day, but I guess that there’s no law against it. Hey, it’s Springtime after all — well, technically. I purchased a half pound of black walnut filled fudge. I also got a half pound of white chocolate«bark», or almond filled white chocolate. I snagged a large bag of delectable looking caramel corn situated irresistibly next to the register. I told the gentleman who wrote up my order and packaged my «treasures» in pretty gift boxes, that I was glad that I just ate, otherwise my credit card would have been in jeopardy of melting — as in, «Oooh, chocolate truffles — $ 39/lb. Just fill up a bag.» Kilwins’s has too many flavors of fudge, ice cream, and chocolates to list. They have caramel apples, chocolate truffles, and another of my favorites… chocolate turtles, in several variations. Kilwin’s = temptation. The SMELL inside this place is unbelievable. Several patrons remarked on that fact, and they’re right. Something AH-mazing is always being prepared here, and the aroma permeates the store. I always imagine myself inside Willy Wonka’s, aka Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when I come here — and that’s not a bad thing. I love the high country of North Carolina. Boone. Downtown Blowing Rock. Asheville. The ski areas. Snow. The B&B’s. The nice restaurants. Kilwin’s is just the cherry atop the sundae. I love this place!

Omg the Apple pie ice cream is phenomenal! This place smells so dreamy when you walk past, staff was very friendly, free fudge samples(tons of flavors) — we tried the pumpkin and bought salted caramel. Definitely worth the calories… but who is counting?

I just about always have to stop in here when I walk by. The home made candies and ice cream are yummy here. The smells that emanate from the preparation lure you inside, and then you just have to try something.

No visit to Blowing Rock is complete without a few visits here! just the best ice cream and chocolate anywhere. The staff are always friendly… and not in an insincere way… they ready do love their job(but who wouldn’t love making everyone happy!). Even if the lines are out the door, the staff keep things moving and it is just plain fun!

Ice cream from Kilwin’s has become a Blowing Rock institution. Gotta have one to fully experience the park bench pleasures of this delightful mountain town. And their fudge is a perfect answer to the inevitable«what can we take back to — – » question.

Always a highlight of a day spent in Blowing Rock! The lines are always full, but it is well worth it! AMAZING ice cream! They always bring in fresh seasonal flavors. The best is the Georgia Peach!

It has been a real disappointment to go the your Kilwins in charleston, sc and in Blowing Rock. I think you have sold your soul for expansion. years ago your chocolate was wonderful Now it is tasteless and tastes like wax. so sorry that you have comprised your integrity for quality. we have given you lots of chances and you have failed. so sorry to see this happen.

Metropolis has Nothing on THIS! Fantastik Ice Cream and Fudge! Set in Romantic Downtown Blowing Rock! All Kilwin’s are NOT the same!!! After eating here several times, even twice in one day, and between times, with a gap of years without eating here, Kilwin’s opened a shop in Ballantyne(at one time part of Charlotte, NC) After Eating Ice Cream and chocolates at the Ballantyne Shop three times(three Poor experiences) I was skeptical of Kilwin’s overall, glad this one is still AWESOME! Ice Cream Flavors I enjoy most : Key Lime Pie Pistachio Cappuccino Chocolate Chip = is the Overall Winner and one of my Favorites Anywhere! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Fudge Seems like every time I’m here you can see someone(that works here) making Fudge(the Delicious kind)… Lots of Flavors and seems like all are Top Notch! Service! At this location they could be much less friendly and still do Great because they are the ONLY game in Downtown! Somehow they manage to get the BEST Employees! Full of Enthusiasm, Friendly and Efficient!!!

Ice cream and fudge really mind blowing. I never tasted the ice cream: DR Chocolate. There are variety of flavors for ice cream and fudge.

Great ice cream(tasty, and lots of creative flavors to choose from, including the hard to find Superman flavor!), and the servers were friendly and provided a good number of samples to us. The prices are a little higher than I expected, but the portions were really big. There was a big selection of chocolates, and those were also a little pricy, but I guess it’s a touristy area. Huge selection of fudge! Tip: grab an ice cream and sit on a bench in the park across the street to unwind.

Chocolates and ice cream… end the review here. This place is stupid good. Every flavor of home made ice cream I’ve ever dreamed of, wanted and needed. In addition to the ice cream, the fudge collection is equally as impressive. I had a preztel dipped in some fudge and was in heaven. The interior is a throwback to the old candy stores and you can even slow down to take in the workers actually forming the chocolate treats for next days orders. Service was quick and excellent.

Even before you see the sign and step into the store, the aroma of freshly made fudge has already been flirting with your sense of smell. Stepping into the store is like leaving the cold reality and into warm and aromatic heaven. They have 22 different styles of fudge, from traditional to turtle, to local flavor like the«blowing rock mud» which is vanilla based fudge with chocolate and mush mellow swirls. I wasn’t even planning on buying anything but ended up walking away with their«buy 2 slices, get 1 slice free» deal; I selected three popular flavors by the store clerks suggestion: pumpkin walnuts, butter pecans, and obviously the blowing rock mud, which was namesake after the town.
