This is the best, and least expensive Mexican food I’ve had in Bloomington. This was apparently once a chain restaurant, but the food here seems very authentic. And lots of specials! Including 99 cent tacos every day. I was very impressed. For people who work downtown or anyone looking for a great quick lunch, this is a perfect place to grab a good Mexican meal. Seriously good food and a friendly staff. And nice portions. I am hooked on this place!

Bad service, cold food, rude/deceiving staff, overall bad experience. When we came in for the .99 cent taco special, which we ordered, we were given tacos with steak, and charged for $ 4.50. The employee was rude, and was disrespectful. The food was cold. Would rate 0⁄5 if I could.

What a pleasant surprise! Food was excellent and service friendly. We had a quesadilla, two tacos, and some flautas. Quesadilla was larger than expected and chicken was flavorful. Chorizo taco was mild but delicious. The flautas could have used a bit less lettuce and the beans were a bit meh but the potato filling was perfect. Overall great little stop between Saint Louis and Chicago. We will be back.

The food hasn’t changed a lot since changing names but one big thing changed — this locally owned restaurant is no longer a franchise. There are few independent locally owned restaurants in Bloomington-Normal and it’s important to support them to nourish local culture. As far as the food, this is seriously good fast Mexican food. In fact, the previous franchise was far better than the other chain in town for fast Mexican food. My experience today was excellent. I was given a warm greeting, had my order quickly taken and fast had my burrito in hand. Within 5 minutes, I was on my way with a to-go order. Parking is easy in several spaces along Front St. especially the two 10 minute spots at the northeast corner of Front and Washington. I love the food here and truly missed them when they were closed for remodeling. I’m glad they’re back open and look forward to many good meals in the future.

This is basically La Bamba 2.0. The food tastes the same and the menu is the same exact thing. It doesn’t look like much has changed at all, and it’s not that good. I still say stick to a better Mexican choice in town, as they serve far better food for the price. I got 2 super burritos which weren’t constricted properly and the end fell apart. They need to construct their burritos far better where this doesn’t happen. The tacos also aren’t much to talk about either. Overall I give this place a 3⁄5 stars.
