I frequent FedEx every few weeks or so. The difference between this store and the one on the east side are like night and day. I’ve always gotten friendly prompt service on the east side, but unfortunately I live closer to this one and it’s on the way home from work. I had an issue with a box where they wouldn’t ship and didn’t call anyone. It sat in the office for over a week until the recipient filed a complaint and then contacted me to go get it. Took it directly to another office and shipped fine. Employees have generally been very rude and unhelpful. When I’ve had to wait in line, there was not so much a «We’ll be with you in a minute». Definitely go to the other one if it’s an option.

I got a package notification from FedEx asking me to sign it if I wanted to have the packages left at my door.(Because apparently I should want my replacement credit cards strewn about on the ground where anyone can grab them.) I opted to have them held at this FedEx location instead so I could pick them up from a presumably safer spot. I checked the hours online, which showed it being open from 9AM-7PM. Perfect! I can hit it on my lunch hour, right? EXCEPT when I got there at 12:50PM the door was locked and the sign said it’s closed for lunch every day from 12−1PM. Um, FedEx management, you DO realize you’re in the business of getting time-sensitive documents and packages to people, right? And that most people who ask to have packages held are doing so because they have jobs that keep them from being home during delivery hours, right? AND that THEIR lunch hours are probably from Noon to 1PM as well, yes? AND there’s a good chance that individuals and businesses might use said lunch hours to try to ship things out, correct? So what gives? While I waited for it to reopen, I saw approximately 12 people get frustrated and drive away. Once inside, I noted that the bulk of people waiting were there to ship stuff rather than to pick stuff up. So if 12 people gave up in every 10 minutes of it being closed for lunch, that’s 72 potential sales not made while people drove over to UPS instead(as I heard one frustrated person say). So it seems FedEx likely lost a good chunk of business in that hour, huh? Equally perplexing to me was the sign on the wall listing the names of the 3 clerks working that day. Ever heard of staggering lunch hours? I don’t even work in a field that deals with external customers and we have staggered lunch breaks to accommodate whatever might arise. Even the clerk who assisted me(who was very friendly, BTW, hence the second star) said, «Yeah. The $ 12 per person they save by not having us work that hour probably results in about $ 500 in lost sales.» He told me to complain to the company, and I will be writing and mailing a letter(because navigating the«Email FedEx» link on the gives no results re: specific locations), but Unilocaling is pretty cathartic in the meantime. And there’s a chance that whoever’s managing this location will see this and think, «Hey, maybe it IS ridiculously stupid to close during EVERYONE’S LUNCHHOUR.» Or, at the very least, «Hey, maybe I should tell corporate to change our hours online to reflect our RIDICULOUSLYSTUPIDLUNCHHOUR.» A girl can dream.
