was over-priced!!! ordered one sandwich and soup and it costs $ 32. other deli’s in the area are just as good and not nearly as expensive! have been a long time customer, but they just lost me. quality is good, but not worth the price they are charging.

We were very disappointed with our carryout order. We ordered corned beef sandwiches and the overpriced sandwiches were not up to our expectations. We will be trying Stage Deli for our next deli dining experience.

It’s kind of gone down hill over the years. Used to have awesome matzo ball soup. But they have some good meals. Service is a little slow when they are slammed.

After 3 years went again to see if they improved… Nah! Same overpriced food… worst part is The tables are so close together you feel like you’re dining with everybody else in the restaurant… And it seems everybody’s listening to your conversation the waitstaff still is Surly and tempremental. Go elsewhere not worth it.

I love Steve’s Deli! It’s definitely my go to for a quick take out or sit down meal. The food is so fresh and flavorful. Some people may complain it is a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for! I’ve yet to try something I do not like here. The staff is very friendly as well. It’s nice that they have prepared meals to stop in and purchase when I do not feeling cooking at home!

This review is only for the hotdogs. It’s expensive but smells like a real deli. Did I mention the hotdogs? Hotdogs.

This was an awful dining experience. My wife, brother in-law, his girlfriend, my wife’s cousin, and I all went to Steve’s Deli for lunch at 1:30PM yesterday. We had to get our own menus, and I had to ask one of the men walking around the restaurant aimlessly, «Excuse me, sir? Can you have someone come take our order. We have been waiting for 20 minutes now.» The waitress came over to take our order after the kind man asked her to help us. When he talked to her, we over-heard her say, «I’m sorry, I’ve got like 500 things I am doing right now and the credit card machine is broken.» If the credit card machine was broken, then she could have communicated that with us. The odd thing is that I was able to pay for my meal with my debit card. The waitress was nice, but I don’t understand how the table for two sitting next to us was able to get menus, waters, order their food, and get their food before we were even able to order. And the worst part was they were seated five minutes after us. In addition to that, this was the worst Ruben sandwich I have ever had. The cook left the cheese and sauerkraut on the flat top grill for too long, so it became a burnt mess. So I had to remove the corned beef and eat that without the bread, sauerkraut, cheese, and thousand island dressing. That’s other thing, there was almost no dressing on this sandwich. To make matters worse, I watched multiple waitresses arguing with each other on the floor by the tables where customers were sitting. In addition to that, my wife bought a rice crispy treat from the bakery and the girl working behind the counter seemed pissed off that she had to help us. She didn’t say hello, good-bye, or have a nice day. I’m never coming back to this place. This is an example of poor management. I saw the multiple awards and great reviews that the restaurant had gotten, but honestly, don’t believe the hype. I don’t have any idea how they could have gotten so many good reviews.

As a vegetarian, going to a deli may seem weird to some, but Steve’s still has LOTS of options for us vegetarians! I had Steve’s Veggie Sandwich. It was HUGE!!! The coleslaw was amazing. Just enough zip to it, not too much dressing, and the Russian dressing was just perfect. I really enjoyed this sandwich. I will absolutely be coming back and look forward to trying all of the meat free options! The reason for 4 stars rather than 5, is based on price. It is a bit pricy for a veggie sandwich, but oh so delicious!

Extremely overpriced. The corned beef was meh; on the fatty side. Every sandwich is $ 14 or $ 15!!! I assume they are huge, and don’t want that much, so I opt for the ½ sandwich with a bowl of soup.(A cup is not an option). $ 14!!! So I get the Ruben.(«Lean» is a $ 2UPCHARGE — I go the low road already in at $ 14!!). And the chicken noodle.(Matza ball soup is also a $ 2UPCHARGE! Wtf??? The soup was very good. No complaint. Big bowl with lotsa chicken. The Ruben — so so. I spend most of my time separating the beef from fat. Wish I was vegetarian. Star, Plaza, Bread Basket and Al’s are ALL better and cost far less. My service was pretty good unlike other reviews. Won’t return. I’d rather feed the homeless than burn it at this place.

A very medicore and over priced NY wannabe deli with a few delights. Star Deli is much better! The quality of the customer service is debatable. The location is great of if are in Bloomfield/Bloomfield Hills!

Good New York style deli with good food. The prices are on the high side. The desserts look fabulous and huge. I’ve been three times to dine in and once for carry out and each time the service has been bad. The cashiers have no concept of customer service. I won’t be back.

The wife stopped in here with friends after getting out of an event that they were attending for her job. She took out two orders of food for me. One was an order for chicken matzo ball soup and a corned beef sandwich. The other one was for a roast beef brisket dinner with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. She had intended for the corned beef sandwich to be for my lunch on the following day, but the sandwich was large enough that I had it for dinner that night. I found the corned beef sandwich to be smaller than some delis that I have been to, but it had nice flavor. It was juicy enough that I had to hold the sandwich over the take out container and let the juices run out into it while I ate. Despite being smaller than how some delis serve corned beef sandwiches, this one was large and quite filling. The Swiss cheese was nicely melted, not overcooked to the point of being crispy like some places that I have had corned beef sandwiches from have served it. The toasted rye bread had a nice crispness to it, and it deliciously soaked up some of the juices from the meat. The chicken matzo ball soup wasn’t as good as my late maternal grandmother used to make. The matzo ball while larger than hers – it was as large as a baseball, and hers were the size of a shooter marbles – weren’t as nicely seasoned. Overall, the matzo ball was kind of bland. However, the soup overall was a nice chicken soup in terms of flavor otherwise. To be fair to them, my grandmother’s soup might seem better to me due to it being about 30 years; since, I had it due to her death, and nostalgia might be coloring my recollection. I had the beef brisket meal the following night for dinner. The steamed green beans had dried cranberries in it. The flavor was really good. I was kind of surprised that the flavor combination worked for my taste buds. It really made the flavor pop. I actually found myself disappointed when I finished them, because there weren’t more of them. The mashed potatoes were pretty much your average mashed potatoes. The beef brisket on the other hand was definitely the star of the meal. The meat was fork tender. The meat was well seasoned. The flavor went deep into the brisket. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I hope to make a trip in person to try the food here the next time around.

Warning: This is only about BAGELS. That’s all I’ve ever had at Steve’s. Bagels, and whitefish. To go. In two words: the best. My favorite bagels in North America, and while I haven’t eaten at every bagel shop around I’ve tried enough from New York to LA to Vancouver to Montréal and points in between, and I always come back to Steve’s because the bagels are that good. Chewy and shiny on the outside, and excellent flavor on the inside. Get a dozen to go and half a pound of whitefish. Yeah, it’ll cost you, but sablefish isn’t cheap. It’s worth it!

Food is great here let me tell you! The problems they have are with service! I have been coming here for years just cause the food is great and it should be for the price! Lunch for 3 cost $ 100 without tip and we ordered 3 iced teas 3 bowls of soup, 3 sandwiches! It’s a shame that they have a hostess whom is really nice whenever you walk in but our waitress was a bitch from hell with an attitude that made me ask myself why she has a job as a waitress!!! She told me I couldn’t order a carry out! That I would have to get up and order from the counter. I was appalled with your menus pricing there should be better service and maybe some entertainment! I don’t write bad reviews unless you truly deserve it! Let me tell you at Steves they deserve a bad review I waited weeks before righting this and I’m still angry with how I was treated! I won’t be back anymore… They are busy and won’t feel the loss of my business but I can let you the patron know not to support a place that treats some people better than others!

Good enough deli especially for this side of town. The portions are big and though the prices can be high they are not outrageous. The waitstaff is very friendly and all the times I’ve been there is never a wait. The takeout section though pricey is a nice touch.

I had the classic club and it was okay tasting but they ignored my request for no bacon. However, unless this place is in Chicago and Manhattan, I am not sure why a small coke and a club without tip is over $ 16, especially when it is nothing special with no fires and no pickle, just the sandwich. I will say however, the turkey was pretty good but it is negated by the price. even the woman checking me out seemed embarrassed by what she was charging me. skip this joint and find a nice deli living in reality.

This is the toughest review I’ve ever done… If you ordered the Reuben, matzah ball or chicken noodle soup, this is FIVE stars for sure!(And you would also pay five star prices) But if you’re doing breakfast, you wouldn’t find anything too special.(And you would still be paying five star prices) When my daughter is sick, this is e only chicken noodle soup she will eat.(And I pay $ 15 for the carry out). The rice pudding is pretty amazing too. But for lunch the other day, I had a cup of tomato basil soup,(good soup but not life changing) and the lox appetizer.(A few pieces of lox, a small bagel and some lettuce/tomato). My friend had a half turkey sandwich and a bowl of the same soup. Throw in one diet coke and tip and we were at $ 50.00!!! For $ 50.00 we could’ve/should’ve/would’ve been downtown Birmingham at an upscale bistro. So I don’t know. Some food is a one of a kind but most, not so much. Most of the time the service is the crabbiest you’ve ever experienced. They really are not happy to see you coming and even less so if you chat and dally during lunch.

I live not too far form Steve’s Deli, so it tends to be a neighborhood favorite for me and the rest of the people that live around me. The place is very busy and even busier around holidays with catering. I can’t understand why they are so busy considering they are so expensive. The sandwiches are big, but run around $ 14 each. Those are Midtown prices in NYC! But for some reason they still pack the place. I normally get the number 2 which is pastrami and corned beef with swiss cheese and Russian dressing. I get the grilled challah or grilled rye. If I don’t want a sandwich, I get the salmon special if they have the hot food. The soup is really good. House made broth. The chicken noodle is what my kids get. They mix the noodles, carrots, and chicken when you order, so feel free to customize the ingredients.

A solid deli. Overpriced, so is Stage but Stage has better variety for my palette and a much better dine in atmosphere. I also am more impressed with their food but I digress. This is about Steve’s and Steve’s is a very good choice if one is craving deli food. I think the Reubens are the way to go. I am more of a corned beef girl but I am less impressed with the corned beef here than the pastrami. Corned beef is pretty good, the pastrami is much tastier. Grilled is a must, Steve’s sammies do not taste as good served cold. For that it will never be a five star for me. The size is generous and the price is done accordingly. This is a treat deli, not an everyday deli. The pickles are good. I thought the potato salad was meh. I am über picky about potato salad though. The chicken soup though? Yum! Any way you want it, it will be tasty. Yep that soup is my fave thing. The mish mosh seems to be very popular here but the chicken and rice is good, basically anything involving chicken and soup is a winner. My husband had a swanky franky, wrapped in bacon and with cheese, he thought it was a winner. That and some fries and he was happy. He is not into traditional deli faves. James is not a huge fan of corned beef or pastrami. He usually ends up with some kind of club. I think he enjoyed having something else to pick from. It is kind of a hike for us. We would come back if in the area but likely will not hike out specifically.

Some friends took me here on my first visit to Detroit since I was a little kid. This is a cute little place where they cram everyone into tables against the wall. You can watch the counter while you eat, as people come in and out for all the traditional deli foods. They have a large selection of sandwiches and salads, and per recommendations from my friends, I went with the Ali’s Salad. Not bad. Chicken, hard boiled egg whites, and tomatoes with iceberg lettuce. It was a large portion and definitely fills you up. Nice service, fun place. Check it out for lunch!
