Kona Ice

These guys are great. They sometimes show up at my workplace on the rare hot Summer days that they are not already booked for another event.
The shave ice is fantastic. Nothing compares to the stuff you get from Aoki’s or Matsumoto’s in Hawaii. But Kona’s is as good as I have had off the Islands and thus gets an enthusiastic «Mainland 5 Stars». (though truthfully they’d probably rank 3.5 stars at best in Hawaii)
As other reviewers have called out, the Tiger’s Blood is a really interesting flavor and it is fun to mix & match your own flavor combos. The price is very reasonable, too. Highly recommended to check this truck out if you happen to see it around town. Or to rent for a party or special event. They won’t disappoint!

Meh, when I was at Livonia Spree, there was an awesome SHAVED ice stand. Now that was five star worthy. It was cold, melty pillows on your tongue. It spoiled me, and ruined me for this. This is a sno cone. They offer many flavors which is nice and they’re reasonably priced. My kid adds a note that she likes Kona Truck but I will not be satisfied until I find the other.

I’ve been trying to find this truck for the longest time and I finally tried them yesterday at the WDream cruise! The flavors I tried were really good but a tad sweet. They ice also melted rather quickly and made it thinner than a slurpee– maybe get some dividers so our flavors stay separate when they melt down :)
You can book them for parties which is also awesome!

The folks that did this have done several events in our community and it is awesome! Kids and adults totally dig it, and it’s pretty funny as well.
Perfect for any community outing, event, meet, etc…

Booked the Kona Ice Truck for my daughters Birthday to come to a dance school she was attending that day. I had the truck come after dance classes ended for a treat for all the kids and parents to enjoy.
The owner was great, he showed up at the time I asked and was super friendly to everyone explaining what to do. He wrote Happy Birthday on the chalk board under the window he serves from and I hung two birthday balloons from the trucks mirror. He also played fun ice cream truck kind of music and even a Happy Birthday Song. Also he gave the Birthday girl a Lei Necklace & a Kona Ice Snap Bracelet which I didn’t even know about ahead of time so that was a fun surprise.
Basically he puts shaved ice in a cup for you and you can either put as much or as little flavor as you want and even mix them. If you decide to put your own flavors on, there were 10 different flavors such as Cherry, Grape, Tiger’s Blood & Orange to just name a few. He can also pour on the «Unique Flavors» such as Strawberry Shortcake, Root Beer, Bubble Gum Pink, Wedding Cake, Goobajooba… it’s a list of about 26 Unique Flavors. He also has Sugar Free flavors as well.
We got the regular size cups which is 12oz of ice and it’s a good size, they also a 8oz size. The cost of your package depends on what sizes you get and how many people you have, they have different packages for what you need. I didn’t know if we were going to need the «Up to 35 People» or «Up to 50 People» package but he keeps track of how many you go though and we paid after so that was easy. He was there for a hour for my package and for 35 people it probably took him under 30 minutes to serve everyone.
He gave me a brochure about his truck and it says they can do Schools, Sport Events, Workplaces, Events, Parties and even Fundraising (kind of cool idea).
It was a big hit with both the kids and parents as well as us and we will be using him in the near future.
