I guess I’ll go for two stars. I would have done three but they failed my simple test. Don’t offer something for sale unless you are willing to list its price and describe it. I’m talking about the beer list. There were three or four draft beers on there that I did not know. I asked the server who said that he thought they might be dark. Sorry but that is like saying Calamari might be from the sea. Not enough info. You have these beers listed on your printed out and laminated menu. Put a damn description on it. Such as «Scotch Ale», or «Amber Ale», or «Stout». And since the prices are all different how about putting that price on the menu? Why not. Please tell me, why can’t you put the description and price on the menu. Our server didn’t know the price of the beers either. And why should he have to! Following my new policy which states«if you can’t bother to describe the beer and state its price then I will not have any alcohol at your establishment». Now the food. I had the shredded pork nacho. I dipped my first chip in the salsa and it tasted like a marinara sauce. I tasted the salsa and it was salsa. The taste of tomato was coming from the bbq sauce they put on the pulled pork. I did not expect that. I was expecting pulled pork plain(maybe with a bit of a mop) but not with so much sauce flavor. It wasn’t to my taste but I can see where others might like it. I don’t like bbq pizza either. I liked that it was baked and I liked the chips. But I found the cheese to be bland and they had some type of cheese sauce under the shredded cheese. I generally don’t care for the cheese sauces on my nachos but this was just a light spread. My son had fries and a chicken sandwich(parmesan I think). He said it was okay. My nacho was okay as well. Middle of the pack as far as that goes. Nice ambiance and I would not avoid this place, but it won’t make my list of favorite places.

The waiter started out good but went downhill from there. We were out to celebrate my daughters birthday. Not only did her meal turn up when most of us had finished… we had to remind him about 2 of our sides, my husband never got his onion rings and my daughter didnt eat her $ 16 fish, because the fish didn’t taste very good. My other daughter had also ordered the children’s serving of fish and didn’t eat it because it didn’t taste good either. I tasted it and it was taseless. Not only that when we said something to the waiter he did nothing about it. So we have left very unhappy never to return again.

Mother’s Day — probably the biggest brunch day of the year. This place provided a chaotic mess. First off, we made our reservations back in March, and asked for a spot right when the opened. We were told they opened at 11am, however, it was very clear when we arrived that they had opened at 10am. Ok, fine, willing to overlook that little mishap. But then we were told it was 45-an hour for people with reservations! What? Isn’t that the point of reservations… so you don’t have to wait?!(like that Seinfeld episode — anyone can just take reservations. It is the HOLDING of the reservations that is key.) Second, the line to the buffet room was so long that it was in the way of people waiting to be seated. So once we waited an hour to get our table, we would have to wait in a massive line stretched almost the length of the restaurant?! No thanks. Finally, there were people EVERYWHERE. It was almost impossible to work your way into the place to check in with the hostess. Once there, you were then fighting the line for food, just to be told you had to find a place to wait for an hour. Um, where?! Even the parking lot and sidewalk was full of people! We were lucky enough to find another place close by that had a spot for us. So we bailed out, and will be giving all future business to that restaurant instead.

Ya know… food is good, We’ve been there a few times now, food is good and affordable, drinks are good, service is good, not great, but something is wrong with management. We made reservations weeks ago for Mothers day…1pm. We also confirmed it a day before. We get there… nowhere to park, we walk in and we’re told about an hour wait, Other guests with reservations mentioned that they were told an hour as well… but they waited way more than an hour… we are a party of 11… we left! went somewhere else. To the owners or management or whoever is reading the reviews,(if anyone) You’ve got a good thing going with the food & location… but these bad reviews are gonna hurt you. You disappointed a lot of people on Mothers day and are probably going to lose customers over it. Please fix whatever s wrong.

I have been to 5th Tavern several times and I love this place, Although today Mother’s Day I knew the place would be Packed so I made reservations upon arrival I was informed that I had a 40-minute wait they were accepting walk-ins on top of the people that made reservations and they said the reason for the wait was because as people ate they would not get up and leave needless to say, we ended up leaving going somewhere else.

We’ve tried this place a couple times and it was ok. A would say a C+ not bad, not great. Just ok… But-I heard the weekend brunch was good and thought we would try it for Mother’s Day. I Made the reservation two weeks in advance– called and added one more on Friday and confirmed it. The girl(I stress girl) Who answered told me they added some more to the buffet for Mother’s Day. So I was happy, the guys would have more choices. So I thought… We «had» a table for nine people at 11:00. My father arrives before me to let them know we were all about five minutes out(this was at 10:45am) He called me to say they not only don’t have my reservation, he was told by a girl hostess«she didn’t make her reservation here– you have made the mistake». My dad is diabetic and we scheduled this for his eating time frame. I get there– the inside is a mad house. People complaining they had reservations and couldn’t be seated or the hostesses couldn’t fine their reservations. One hour plus wait for everyone. You couldn’t move. Complete gridlock and a unorganized mess. I wasn’t even apologized to. We were told it was at least an hour wait(like every other family around us who were equally upset) we were given blank looks, too bad for you attitudes and the worst front end of the house on a restaurant I’ve ever seen. Not joking or exaggerating To 5th — First– don’t let kids take your reservations Second– don’t take reservations if you can’t honor them Third — don’t be greedy– take only what you can serve. This isn’t a spirit airlines flight to over book I didn’t scream or yell at everyone like some of the other families– it wasn’t worth my time or energy. and in a way I felt sorry for the poor young girls just try to make a living. I did go back in(which was almost impossible with the mob of pissed off people) And let the girl hostess crew know — I had a reservation and confirmed it again on Friday — I would not be waiting for at least another hour — and like everyone else who was leaving angry, disappointed and embarrassed– I would never be back again. We reserve places all of the time for personal and business reasons both-never experienced this before. Never! Until this Mother’s Day — You lost nine people today– and I let the restaurant know, who kindly made room for us due to your lack of professionalism what happened. One we left 5th, our Mother’s Day brunch was a success and stress free. The owner was available and making sure their restaurant was running smoothly — bloody Mary’s to help calm our horrible morning at 5th tavern. #5thtavern=greedy, like a flight that’s overbooked #unorganizedmess #horrible Thanks for letting us experience a restaurant(at your expense) I would not have tried if it wasn’t for your mess up. We made reservations 3 weeks ago for Mother’s Day brunch at 11am for 8 people plus a baby *with* a high chair. I specifically remember requesting the high chair. We arrived this morning and found utter chaos. The foyer was overflowing with people and the hostess told us that the reservations were 30 – 40 minutes behind. Really? I didn’t realize how bad it was until we were finally seated 45 minutes later. Our party of nine was seated in the back corner of one of the rooms. To our horror, the table was jammed up against the fireplace and wine racks. We could NOT get in without moving the table out from the wall. To top it off, there was no high chair. We were told«we’re out of high chairs right now.» WHAT? I sent my older children, parents, and in-laws to find the buffet table while my husband and I tried to secure a high chair for our thrashing baby. It took nearly 15 minutes for them to come up with a high chair. I finally flagged down a server and hastily ordered drinks for everyone at my table in case she never returned. It was nearly impossible for her to even reach our table because it was so crowded. A little while later, the rest of my family returned from the buffet line and so I proceeded to find my way across the sea of crowded ugliness. On my way to the buffet I noticed that the restaurant had jammed all the tables together because they had to make room for the many rental tables that were added and cluttered the space. PLASTICPARTYTABLESANDCHAIRS. Really? I’ve never seen that before. Ridiculous. If that wasn’t greedy, I don’t know what was. This restaurant clearly violated its seating capacity law and they risked everyone’s lives by shoving hundreds of people in a small space. Where was the fire marshal when we needed him/her? When I arrived at the buffet line(I mean room), it was a disorganized mess. I found a group of four tweens playing with the ice sculpture that was a centerpiece for the shrimp table. Yuck. They were so close to the food, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d touched any of it. I was so grossed out I had lost my appetite. Needless to say, I went back to the table, ate with a half-hearted appetite and we left as soon as we got the bill. I nearly cried when my husband paid the $ 200+ bill. It was like we took the money and threw it out the window. We spoke to the manager on duty after our experience and she had little to say except«I’m sorry» as if she wasn’t surprised that we were unhappy. This sort of service is unacceptable. We did not pay $ 30+ per person to attend a carnival. True… we could’ve walked out, but the effort it took to get there wasn’t worth waiting again somewhere else. Definitely not going back.

I enjoy coming here because they offer the food cooked on a rock. It’s hot and fresh. Shrimp and scallops. Green beans are crispy and fresh and mashed potatoes were really good. Their crab cakes are awesome. They also have a good wine list. Plus our waiter was good and attentive. I’m not super picky but the atmosphere is good in the bar area. I agree about the unfriendly hostesses. I walked out of the bathroom and was given a very dirty/nastylook. But when we were leaving she said have a nice night. Weird. You can sit outside here now which is nice.

Nice tavern, service was excellent. Food was good but they did send out green beans instead of asparagus but they quickly corrected the meal after being notified. Ambiance was great, not too noisy, able to have a nice conversation. Bathroom was very clean.

Was not impressed at all. Food was mediocre at best and the staff was completely lost. Ordered the Nachos for an appetizer and they were HUGE, my friend only ate nachos and didn’t get a dinner because of their size. I ordered the filet and the only thing that made it worth eating was the zip sauce. The French fries looked good but were really just strings soaked in grease with no taste. We had to try it, tried it and won’t be back.

We tried this place on a weekday night because it was the only place open around. The outside makes you think it’s going to be great but the service and food don’t match the architecture. Our food was brought wrong twice. But my lobster grilled cheese and tomato soup was great.

Came for a late lunch. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and it came drowning in a heavy BBQ sauce for some reason. I asked why it had any BBQ sauce on it(menu didn’t mention that) and the only answer I got was«we’re coming out with a new menu soon.» Not quite an answer. Staff was friendly and offered me something else, but I didn’t have time to wait, so I choked it down. They didn’t charge for the food, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Expected a decent beer selection but quickly disappointed to see only 10 or so beers on tap, including(brace yourself) Miller Lite, Sam Adams and Blue Moon. So this is not a place for craft beer lovers.

My wife and I recently stopped here for lunch after a doctor’s appt in Bloomfield and we were pretty disappointed. The restaurant looks nice inside and out but that’s about the only thing this place has going for it. The food was overpriced for what it was and while the hostess was nice in greeting us, the waitresses that served our table were terrible and not at all attentive. It was lunch and there couldn’t have been more than 10 tables there so I would expect a little better service. For having a name like ‘Tavern’ you would think they have more than 7 things on draft. When I think Tavern, I think expansive draft list where I can try some new things — but not the case here. I think Applebee’s has more draft beer choices which is pretty sad. Sorry 5th Tavern — but we likely won’t be back.

I work in the area so this is a convenient place to go for lunch. For the third time in a row they have screwed up my order(twice from carry out). Today I didn’t get the right dressing for the salad I ordered. My last carryout was also not what I ordered and the last time I dined in they forgot to bring me a side I ordered(but they didn’t forget to charge me for it). The food is ok but check your orders before you leave!

Service has been excellent for me every time I’ve come to this establishment, that being said, the food has left a lot to be desired. DONOT order any burgers; the buns were so soggy, my whole burger fell apart. The fries tasted like they were made the night before and just got reheated. The drink menu is nothing especial. Only giving the 2 stars for service and convenience(it’s near by and open late).

First off, the food is great. I will be back for sure. That said, the AM bartender today(MLK day) is a tricking moron. So, I walked in, no greeting from the purple haired hostess, though nothing else was going on in the lobby. I walked to the bar, sat down, waited, no bartender. The place was much busier than I expected for a weekday lunch on a holiday. Finally, four or five minutes in, the bartender showed up. He gave me a couple different menus and went back to his table he was with. Nothing was presented to me as far as lunch specials, outside the menus themselves. He wasn’t super talkative, perfect for a bartender(insert sarcasm here). I decided to venture away from the lunch specials and ordered a French Dip to accompany my IPA. To my surprise is was almost half off! Unadvertised lunch special? Who knows. So then, my favorite part, when the food comes, which looks awesome, I ask for a napkin. At this point, I hadn’t been given silverware or anything. He walks over and grabs beverage napkins from a holder in front of my face, informing me they are out of the other napkins. It was at this point I looked around at EVERYTABLEINTHEBARAREA, topped with silverware rolled in cloth napkins. I then noticed his box of the same behind the bar, probably 50 more silver rolls. I got up and went and took one off the table. What a tool. Bottom line: Great food, decent beer selection for twelve taps(1 Founders, 1 Shorts, 2 Bells, 1 Griffin Claw), and I imagine, the rest of the staff is probably much more competent and less like a big tool.

Went here with a friend and I ordered there cobb salad and let me tell you it was the best cobb salad I have ever had. And was very huge took most of it home. And my friend had there chili and was very impressed and said it was awesome. The bread was ok nothing special but rest of the food was great. Very nice atmosphere and clean. I will be back for sure. I been craving that salad again.

Eh. Have given this place a couple of tries lately, and I’m left underwhelmed. Service is slow, the crab cake is more cake than crab, and it is pretty pricey for such a disappointment. French onion soup was good, but if you can’t do a good French onion soup, can you really call yourself a restaurant?
