I tried their goat cheese years ago at a farmers market in San Antonio and still miss it. Tell me you’ll mail since to California please! !!!

Went to Austin for a weekend trip and decided to go to the farmers market in downtown. It was awesome! But the most memorable vendor is CKC Farms. I was a little weary of buying cheese in a jar that had been sitting outside. But she assured me that the olive oil kept the cheese fresh and she was right. I bought the Seasoned Feta — feta cheese, olive oil, rosemary, cracked pepper… YUM! I really wanted to buy goat cheese but wasn’t able since I couldn’t refrigerate it for hours. I hope this vendor comes to the Dallas area soon!

Excellent farm fresh goat cheese. They now have a small booth at the Pearl Farmer’s Market that is really easy to miss if you are not paying attention. The goat cheese comes in different flavors, and the jalapeño and artichoke on crackers is fabulous! A small container runs around $ 7, so not cheap, but a little indulgence never hurt anyone.

I’m a cheese nut, and CKC Farms offers two of my favorite tangy cheeses, feta and goat. They come out to the farmer’s market, and they are definitely worth trying out. If you’re not normally a goat cheese fan, do give it a shot. Their goat cheese is a bit creamier and milder than the normal tangy-to-the-max stuff. Their feta is a bit steep in price for a pint because most of the jar is olive oil, but it lasts for however long you want it to last, and you don’t even need to refrigerate it. The oil is seasoned with sun dried tomatoes, rosemary, garlic, and bay leaves. Besides being a perfect preservative, the oil makes a good dressing. I’d like a bit more cheese in my jar of feta, but beyond that, the sustainably-raised goats, the handcrafted cheeses, and hard work put into running this family business gets my approval.

I first discovered CKC cheese at Antonelli’s Cheese Shop where I purchased a jar of their Seasoned Feta. Their feta comes in a pint jar in extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, roasted garlic and sun dried tomatoes and is PERfect on a spinach salad no need for any dressing with just a tiny drizzle of the infused oil and feta. Then I had the pleasure of meeting Chrissy(the eldest daughter for which the farm is named) at the downtown FM. Other than feta I have never been a fan of goat cheese — too sour funky tasting for me. Until Chrissy sampled me some of their Chevre and explained that their goats are pasture fed and hormone and antibiotic free AND the cheese is richer and creamier in the winter due to increased fat during cold winter months. Chrissy suggested it served with warm roasted beets — they have a recipe on their website that is divine! If you can not make it to the downtown Farmer’s Market and meet the family in person you can find their cheese at Antonelli’s and Specs.
