I was driving by and decided to stop in for a late lunch. I had the shepherds pie, and it was delicious. I also had the scotch eggs off of the happy hour menu, which I wasn’t too impressed with. There were definitely a few things on the menu that I would like to go back and try. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. They also had patio seating available, which will be nice as the summer approaches.

My families experience at JJ Murphy’s Irish Pub was the WORST dining experience I’ve ever had! I should’ve known better when we were asked by a sign to wait at the door to be seated. Five minutes later somebody finally came to the door to seat us. The place was not really busy, but it took a long time to get our drinks and order taken. Once seated we ordered an appetizer because it was already getting late to be eating with kids. It took 30 minutes to get the appetizer of pretzels and warmed mustard sauce, which tasted a lot like stale pretzels you would find at the grocery store(definitely not homemade) and the mustard sauce tasted like French’s warmed and put in a stainless cup. We decided to put our food order in right away with the appetizer order as well. Needless to say 80 minutes after putting in our order, we FINALLY got our food. Was it St. Patrick’s Day you ask? Nope, it was a Friday night and that place was maybe 1⁄3 full. The food was not that good. One of our main reasons for going there was fish and chips. My wife ordered the small order of fish n’ chips. What she received was ONE sunfish sized fillet and a pile of fries, all that for the bargain price of about $ 9 – 10. TERRIBLE!!! We are usually VERY patient and understanding, and I usually look at negative reviews as the exception, but this place is AWFUL! I’ve never had slower/worse service at a restaurant in my life. After I went here I went to their Facebook page… wish I’d looked sooner… many had the same experience as me. Save yourself the time and trouble and go elsewhere… this place won’t last long with this type of service!

They had quick service. Honestly forgot what I ordered. I heard this underwent new management. Unfortunately, it seemed dead, and maybe it was just the night I went on. The workers are friendly, and my experience was good.

Got a call from a cousin saying to meet her and friends for dinner, drinks and live Irish music. So I went with some other family to see what was going on and to try some of their authentic Irish fare. I started out by ordering a drink with Jameson and ginger ale. The drink was well mixed and was not too overpowering. It was delivered in a timely fashion as well, by a friendly bartender /waiter. A little while passed and after wrestling with the somewhat lacking actual dinner menu, I settled on the curry chicken over rice dish. It seemed out of place for an Irish pub, but what do I know? Getting back to my previous statement about the menu, it appeared as if they favor serving appetizers and sandwiches over actual dinner entrée items. If you are looking for something hearty, passed their five or six dinner entrees, you should probably go elsewhere. The curry chicken dish was listed as, «hot and spicy» on the menu. After consuming more than half, I then started to feel some heat, but thankfully, it was not that spicy. I have a somewhat low tolerance for spicy foods, but I thought to take a chance on it. I’m happy I did try it and would order or recommend it in the future. The service was ok, I did have to wait 15 minutes for the bill. Drink refills were somewhat quick. The WiFi was not working during my visit. Finally, the live music another Unilocaler mentioned in their review was very good. This is a big reason to come back, plus the fact it was not that busy, which is nice.

We tried going here about 6 weeks ago on a week night. They were quite busy — at least on the patio. We had an extremely immature & forgetful server who pretty much ignored us. I had the beet salad that sounded great, but was VERY so-so. My husband had a steak sandwich and was very disappointed. The décor is nice, the patio was nice, but oh my goodness!!! They have to improve the food and not raise prices — because they’re already plenty spendy for what you get. We met some friends here this week at their suggestion. We kept our misgivings to ourselves and since they hadn’t been there before, we decided to give them another chance. Server was great this time, but the food again was so forgettable. And the inside & outside were very empty. Please, please! You have so much going for you! You gotta do better on the food. Go visit the Tavern for some lessons on good, reasonably priced food.

Owned by the same company that owns ODonovans in downtown. The food is much teh same, and really, it’s freakin delicious! Some people are not going to like authentic(or close to authentic) Irish food, and that’s fine, but they do have other options on the menu that would suit the food needs of pretty much anyone! I have a strange aversion to the salad menu here… The Strawberry Poppyseed salad is SO good! As is the Seared Beef Salad… I haven’t have the Beet n’ Chicken salad, but only because I’m really not a fan of beets. The bar is great! The bartenders are more than happy to chat a bit, pour you a nice one(get a two pull made with Guinness), and it’s a great place to hang out! You can watch a number of games on the TV’s, and they play fun Irish music! Friday’s and Saturday’s they have live music, I have only been here once to enjoy it but it was actually really good! I recommend trying it out here! I’m certainly glad that I am becoming a regular!

Overall as a restaurant we would give it a 3 but for a pub, it gets a 4. The day we were here — Wednesday at 6:30, the service was friendly and attentive. Food came maybe a touch slow but not bad. We enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes, very tender meat perfectly cooked cabbage and good mashed potatoes. Shepherds pie is very interesting a little more spicy than usual. For dessert we had Bailey’s cheesecake which was on light cheese cake very tasty. Everything was well presented.

We stopped in in a quiet Sunday night. We were greeted and seated right away. The first thing we noticed is how loud the music was, too loud and interfering with conversation. The music changed from loud heavy metal to quiet pop and then back to loud heavy metal. Keep in mind it was not a Friday bar night but a Sunday night at 530. Next it took between 5 and 10 minutes for our server to show up and offer drinks. She was very young, inexperienced and awkward. She was able to answer questions about the menu. I ordered a veggie burger and fries. Fries were processed frozen fries. I am certain the Vegie burger was not made in house and was also frozen. It was served luke warm and was not appealing. My husband ordered the fish and chips. He had the same fries. His was served hot and was ok for fish and chips. Not great, but passable. We were then brought our check without asking if we wanted anything further, but the waitress alluded to the fact that if we wanted desert we could let her know. A very odd way to ask if we wanted desert. Over all the service was poor at best with young inattentive and untrained staff. The food was subpar at best and was not good enough for us to spend our money to return for another try. The atmosphere was confusing with the different music playing, the TV’s all around. They appear to be catering to the pub atmosphere but missed the boat. If they do not turn their service around and make a drastic change in the quality of their food they will not last six months. They cannot compare to the Tavern in terms of service in a bar atmosphere. Even Axels is better and there service has significantly declined under new management in the past year. And by the way… does anybody make real food anymore? Are all restaurants just heat and serve? I can do that at home for a lot cheaper and hotter, with might I add service with a smile!

It was ok for an Irish pub in the subarbs. We went on a quiet weekday night, and if business is always that slow, it’ll be closed soon. My wife had the poached salmon and she was a big fan. I had their fish’n’chips and they were average as far as fish’n chips go. Definitely have had worse, but, also, had much better. Beer selection was about what you would expect for an Irish Pub. Service was friendly, but not outstanding. Décor was soft and muted, but was very comfortable. Looks like they’ll have a nice patio set up for when weather gets warm

Crappy service and really bland food. The wait staff were clueless, and really too young to be working in the pub environment.

I love Guiness. There is just something about a well poured Guiness that brings a smile to my face. JJ Murphy’s does a nice job on their pour. Not bad for the first day on the job. This is the new place(opening tonight) where the old Time Out sports bar used to be. The bar area looks nice, and was full up with new patrons. We got there about 7, the place was lively. A band was setting up to play(acoustic folk music). We ordered drinks and dinner. They have a mix of Irish Pub foods and bar food standards. We thought we’d try some of our favorites. Chicken pot pie for my wife and Guiness Beef stew for me. While we sipped our drinks, a bagpipe and drum group marched through the restaurant. I thought it was a nice touch. Our food arrived in a timely manner. It looked and smelled nice. Unfortunately it also looked quite small. The stew as well as the pot pie were served in small ceramic oval dishes typically reserved for side orders. Upon closer inspection, the beef stew lacked one key ingredient — beef. I soon brought this to the attention of the server. She was nice about it and brought back my dish with more stew added. Sadly, more than zero still wasn’t very hearty. At $ 13.50, they just need to do better. Mind you, this IS the entrée there are no sides. When the manager dropped by and asked us about our meals I was honest about my opinion of the stew. He was very nice about it, apologized and removed it from the bill. I get it, it is opening night. They need a little shakedown. The burgers I saw going out looked nice as well as the fish(Haddock) and chips. I plan to check this place out after about another month or so. I will order the same thing. Guiness Stew and Shepard’s Pie are the foods I like to enjoy at an Irish bar, and I hope this place becomes one of the places I go to enjoy them.
