Why go to Schatts when you can come here, get great food, and support local families in Bishop??! I am a regular visitor to the city of Bishop and visiting this place is always a must! They have a good variety of bagels and cream cheeses, the cheese bagels are just a tad greasy but still delicious! The cookies and trail mixes are good too if you’re on your way to the trailhead. I usually go for the spinach artichoke croissant which is also a bit greasy but sooooo good! Coffee and sandwiches are great as well. Try it out, its worth the long lines I promise!

Best bakery in town. I’d go here any day of the week over Schat’s. The flatlanders go to Schat’s, the locals come here.

Forget Schats… this is the place to go in Bishop. Around the corner off Main. Great sandwiches and bakery items. Got a drink for $ 1 with my sandwich purchase.

Much better quality and atmosphere then the other bakery in town. Stop by and check it out!

I always stop here when passing through Bishop before/after backpacking trips in the Eastern Sierra. Great, rustic hole-in-the-wall bakery.

This may be our new lunch stop as we pass through town. The sandwiches were super yummy. I had the Humm-Dinger and it was delicious! My son had the BLAT and it looked equally delicious. We bought a variety of cookies including a bag of Sierra Mud Cookies! They are VERY dangerous. Soooo good! I would definitely recommend.

My husband and I stumbled upon this little gem while staying in bishop this week. It was 3:50pm and the door said closing at 4:00. The lady who helped us was so nice! We never felt rushed to make our selection. Although there was very few baked goods left(that’s always a good sign) we were pleased with our choices. All natural ingredients and very fresh and tasty. We will be back. Loved the atmosphere and quaint seating outside.

A well kept secret on the East Side. Have them cater your event. They make something for everyone.

The best bakery in Bishop hands down! You must get the cowgirl cookies. I don’t know what’s in them but it’s like you mixed apricots and condensed milk together into cookie form. My only regret about traveling to Death Valley was not buying more of those cookies. People always talk about Schat’s, but if you are used to the standards of bay area bakeries, this is the place where you must go. Their bagel sandwiches are my favorite breakfast on 395, and their pies are also amazing. Ok, everything is pretty darn amazing here. Quality ingredients make quality baked goods.

Nice variety of baked goods and fresh breads. A little on the pricey side($ 4.95 for a loaf of sourdough the last time I bought one there). Nice little sitting area inside and out along the sidewalk to take five with a cup of java and a blueberry scone. Does tend to get a little crowded in the mornings because it is a cozy space. They have awesome cookies and delicious dark, rich chocolatey brownies.

We grabbed breakfast at the bakery every morning on our recent climbing trip, after we discovered it. In addition to having great food and friendly staff, the bakery carries Black Sheep coffee. I recommend the lox bagel.

Popped in passing through Bishop, thought we’d try something new. I had the plain bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and avocado. Hubby had the egg, cheese, and ham bagel. Basic bagel, kinda dense, fresh tomato and avocado. Tart and yummy lemonade. Coffee was good. Nice quaint place but parking is a bit hard to find if the place is crowded.

Cute bakery in this small town! The entrance is off Lagoon Street, not Main Street. I’ve stopped here a couple of times on my way up the mountain to get scones and bagel sandwiches and they’re both bomb! There’s a variety of scones to choose from and they’re all delicious, but you’ll have to get there early as they will sell out. The bagel sandwiches are really good and you get to choose your meat and type of bagel you want. You can also switch the bagel for a croissant which I think I’ll try next time. The workers are all really friendly and sweet as this is a family owned business. They also sell fresh cookies and coffee. Definitely a must-try breakfast spot in Bishop

Wow! So yummy, met up with a local there who said this is the place to go. And she was right! I had the Spinach, Artichoke and Feta Croissant… No joke it was the best croissant I’ve ever had. Warm, soft and deeeeeeelish. Such a cute place, mom and pop vibe and great to support the locals. I suggest this place to anyone passing thru. They had other stuff on the menu but we were there for breakfast. Oh good coffee too! This is now going to be the only place we stop on or way to Mammoth.

WOW I was going to go to Schats, but a friend told me about this place and I’m sooo happy I listened! everyone is so nice and helpful. The turkey salad was by far the best I have EVER had and the Mt. Tom sandwich was incredible. Everything tasted fresh and had wholesome mom-and-pop vibe. Oh yeah the iced Tea was great too. Don’t miss and opportunity to stop here.

Delicious and fresh with great service. Love the organic coffee option. We tried the egg bagel sandwich with sausage, pumpkin scone and mini cinnamon roll. This will now be our stop when we drive through Bishop. And everything was so inexpensive!

Not nearly the selection that Schat’s has, but the quality is every bit as good. We had a quick breakfast with the locals. The mini Cherry pie I had was the best pie I’ve had in a LONG time.

Food: Had an egg, bacon, ham, cheese croissant which was very tasty and unlike another very popular bakery in Bishop, it was made to order fresh. We also had a snicker doodle muffin which was moist and yummy. Coffee was good. Atmosphere: Smaller no frills bakery which is not a bad thing. They have a few tables for you to enjoy your morning coffee. The service is very good and they make u feel at home. Place gets pretty busy! Final thoughts: Tried this place while staying in Bishop for a few days on vacation. Breakfast croissant, coffee and muffin were yummy for my tummy. Will be going back for another breakfast croissant before we go back home. PS you can add anything to your croissant… avocado, tomatoes… yummy.

Tucked away, in a part of town that you most likely wouldn’t come across unless you were a local, is this delightful bakery churning out moist cookies, fun filled croissants, bagels and scones that have created a bit of a cult following. Recently, my girlfriend wiped them out of their orange chocolate chip scones before 6:40am on a Monday morning. We were dying laughing because she purchased every single one. With all the times that I’ve been to Bishop, and my prolific use of Unilocal,I somehow missed this little gem. I guess Schat’s overshadowed them, but I’d say Great Basin has it’s own strengths, and definitely worth a visit if you are in town. I know that Schat’s is going to take the back burner to Great Basin Bakery on my future Bishop visits.
