Best Burger I’ve had in a long time! My boyfriend and I came here on 2−1−16 for the first time. The atmosphere, although small, is very cozy and unique. We sat at one of their very cool booths. We both had a Trim Tab beer on tap and each ordered a burger and split them in half to share. I had The Cheese Broker. The house made pimento cheese on it was amazing. He had the Vallejo, the sweet potato strings added a sweet and delicious flavor. We both agreed that the Cheese Broker was the best, I highly recommend it! The bartenders/servers were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Visited BYOB during Winter Restaurant Week. I had honestly never noticed this place across from Slice. Upon entering the restaurant we waited about 10 minutes for a table as it was crowded during the promotion. The restaurant itself is pretty small. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetite and ordered a few different burgers. I had the Topper Price which is just a basic cheeseburger. I thought overall the burger was really good. The burger itself was well seasoned and the toppings were fresh. Glad to know this place exists. I will definitely return.

If you’re looking for the best burger in town, stop right g dang here. Even though jack brown’s is an amazing burger around the corner, it’s apples to oranges. Jack brown’s is as good as it gets Burger in a bag wise but this… This is a burger experience. Don’t bother ordering fries, it will only distort the amazing mess. If you ever feel like having unicorns frolic on your taste buds, order any burger here(deacon is my favorite) and you won’t be disappointed.

Update: had to change my rating from 4 to 1 because of what just happened. Just got back home and found out that the veggie burger that I ordered was actually a meat burger. Called BYOB and they said they were out of veggie patties the whole day. So they decided to replace the veggie patty with a meat patty and not tell me. To compound the matter, the owner justified this by saying: «if you are that much of a vegetarian just be aware that your veggie patty is cooked in the same grease as the meat patty.» What a great reason for replacing the entire veggie patty with a meat patty. Great service! Won’t be patronizing this place. Old: Great burgers, but at $ 3 the fries and onion rings are hardly worth their high price given the scant amount you receive. In short, I would forgo the sides and stick with the burgers.

Super tasty. A little pricey for a burger and fries but really really enjoyed the Pimento cheese burger! It was worth the cost for a special meal

Been wanting to try this place since it opened. Friday night was the right night to do that. A great place to have a great time. Its a small place, put great interior with some high top tables and a couple banquets. Drinks and bartender are great. I had a burger with peppers, swiss cheese and grilled onions. Huge burger perfectly cooked and great taste. Had a side of string onion rings that were thin, crispy and perfectly fried. Not only do they play great music, with music videos and all, but then they set up some karaōke and all bets are off. So you get great food, fun times and cute as hell place. There is no doubt this will become my new go to for great fun and food. Yup, good things come in small packages.

Some friends and I were recently in Birmingham and we stopped by BYOB. Hands down, one of the best burgers I have ever had. This is not your traditional ketchup and mustard burger, though. It comes with chorizo and a fried egg… and it will blow your mind. I also sampled my friend’s plates and they, too, were amazing. If you like quality food and fresh, creative flavors, go here.

Always excited when a new grub joint opens up in walking distance from my place of work. I was not a fan of the former tenant(Kelley’s), so doubly excited that a burger place was going in – upgrade! BYOB is a small space, occupying just the space that was the bar area of Kelley’s(Vape Loft is in the other half of the space). The music was loud(BYOB does in fact ROCK!), but I didn’t mind it as it went with the theme of the place. Table seating is very limited, just two round booths and one high-top table. The rest is counter or bar seating. Ordered the pimento cheeseburger with bacon – this thing was a monster, in size and flavor! A side of fries was $ 3 or so – with a $ 12 pricetag on my burger, this was not a cheap lunch. But it was a filing, tasty one. Looks like they run Groupon/LivingSocial deals pretty often, so I will be back with one of those bad boys!

My friend and I split the chili cheese tots appetizer($ 7). It was very good. I had expected the tots to be smothered in both, but instead, had just enough cheese sauce, chili, bits of green onion and grated cheddar to enhance it. The menu has seven specialty burgers, four specialty chicken sandwiches, two vegetarian burgers and a turkey burger, all named after local bands.(Though the name BYOB stands for Build Your Own Burger, diners don’t actually have this option on the menu.) I picked the Cheese Broker($ 12.50), a burger with pimiento cheese, applewood smoked bacon, red onion and Wickles pickles with rosemary aioli on the side. The patty was perfectly round and flat, leading me to believe it was machine pre-made. It was delicious, a satisfying meal for me. Service was friendly and attentive. Our bill was $ 36.85(before tip) for two burgers, one appetizer and two Cokes. That’s a little pricey, even for gourmet burgers in a dive bar, especially since the beef patties don’t appear to be housemade. Those prices it on par with the ones at Flip Burger Boutique at the Summit, but higher than other specialty burger places in the Southside/Lakeview vicinity.

I am absolutely floored by the quality of this place. It feels a little divey when you walk in but don’t be fooled. The burgers are great but the diversity of alcohol available and the creativity of the cocktails will keep bringing you back. Don’t settle for your same-old everyday drink: try something new from these guys that know what they are doing.

I have only been once and I really do not want to slam the place but my first thought was just meh/ehh. I ordered the Topper Price which was the burger with yellow American, lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion for $ 8.50. Crispy fries were separate for another #$ 2.50 plus probably $ 2.50 for a diet coke. So $ 13.50 pre-tax and tip for lunch is not inexpensive but well worth it if the meal is worth it. I stupidly forgot to ask about cooked to order before ordering but asked the very nice waitress/bartender back over very shortly after order and she said they do not cook to order and the burger is cooked medium wellish«but still juicy.» Well, it was cooked as described and as she told me, the crispy fries were like the ones you get from a Rally’s while the other fries were just frozen steak fries with some seasonings on top. The burger meat itself was again, fine and large enough at 8 ounces but did not seem house made/ground. See where I’m going with this? I really want to like this tiny place but as of right now for my burger fix I would be much quicker to go to FonFon or even Jack Brown’s which is smaller but slightly cheaper and well, tastes better. And it was LOUD. Yes, I’m turning all Abe Simpson here but the place is tiny and while I realize hey, BYOB«Rock» would indicate that well, they would rock loudly, it was kind of brutal during lunch. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you’d say.

Had a great at trivia night a couple weeks ago. The place is small, yet it has a distinct rock n roll flavor which makes sense when you meet the owner. He’s a rocker with ties to bham. We had fun hanging with him, talking about music, food, and a great place to chill. He has big plans for this joint, so it is only gonna get better. Didn’t have a burger, but we did snack on some delicious garlic fries. Looking forward to going back.

Awesome atmosphere… great décor. Drinks are reasonable. The food looks great although I did not have any food. I will definitely come back. The speakers outside are a little loud and inside is very small.

BYOB has a really cool atmosphere, and is so much fun for trivia on Tuesday nights… even though we lost! They have $ 1 Genesee beers and $ 2.50 Yuenglings on trivia night as well. A friend in our party had the fries and said they were delicious. The cocktails were very good. Definitely recommend trying their«CBGB» specialty drink. Can’t wait to come back and try a burger… because they looked delicious!

Cool atmosphere. Fairly small place. Full bar. Decent but fairly small beer selection. The highlight here is the food. We all had burgers. They were all great. HUGE burgers. Come hungry.
