We’ve been looking for quality music programming for the kids for some time now. Axis flew a test balloon on Groupon and we bit. Newcomers to music are allowed to experiment from a variety of instruments from guitar, xylophone, piano, trumpet, etc. This is nice because we want the kids to gravitate to their interest. My son is taking the drums and piano for a walk. We’ll see where this goes. Since we homeschool and have the flexibility in our schedule, we come during the non-crowded, non-peak hours of the day. We’re in and we’re out. Upon waiting, they asked me(a lifelong non-musician and with zero music experience) if I wanted to try an instrument. Hmmm, rock yeah! So, for $ 20 I combined two, 30-minute lessons into a full hour of bass guitar awesomeness. What I found out is that I indeed rock! So, I’m taking lessons now. Paul McCartney, Gene Simmons, Sting, and Flea have nothing to worry about. I also have not quit my job nor I have a packed a bag and hopped a Greyhound to L.A. Just having some fun. This Axis Academy is in downtown Birmingham so you’ll either have to street or deck park. Either way, bring money for parking. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and so far we are impressed.

I am 30 yrs old and my girlfriend bought me a voice lesson package here. I love to play guitar and sing but she hates my terrible singing so thought it would help to have voice lessons. The place is great. Geared more toward kids how ever I was very comfortable here. My instructor was great. We dove in right away and got down to it. Its weird to sing in front of someone but made me feel very comfortable about it. I must say my singing didn’t improve much but it is my fault. I didn’t have a ton of time to practice and didn’t take lessons long enough to really improve. It was a great experience and I did take a lot away from the lessons I did take. Highly recommend for kids. The reason for only for stars is it seemed pretty pricey and I didn’t go long enough to really improve.
