I purchased one of American Eagle moving company 2 hours living socials. I only have a very small one bedroom apartment and I was only moving to the next building over. They didn’t even have to load the truck(even though that probably would have made it go by faster) they could just walk it over. It took them over 2 in half hours!!! I’m talking a couch, washer and dryer, dresser, some odd end tables and several boxes! I even helped by loading some small things in my car but it still took them forever. Not only that they refuse to get everything(left severally things) after I asked nicely and a offered to pay more. Which they charged me for anyways. And then they just basically threw everything in my new place. The guys were nice but I am very unhappy with this company. And I do not recommend them to anyone.

I am a fan of American Eagle. this past weekend was my second time using AE as my movers and both times were ourstanding. I was a little skeptical at first because of some of the reviews but with anything you have to see things for yourself and Im glad I did. I had a Groupon for 2 hours and my movers removed everything from my two bedroom apartment and loaded everything into my new place under my 2 hour window! Excellent!

I saw the other review and had none of those issues myself. I paid for a Living Social deal for the two hours. Ken and Rodney called before coming to advise they would be here in 15 – 20 minutes(right on time). Both were very courteous and professional. We were having them pack a U-Haul truck for moving — some very heavy items(including a 400lbs motorized couch). They completed everything in under two hours(living social), this included a bed, desk, entertainment center, 42 medium sized boxes, kitchen table, buffet table, bookcase, dresser and some odd sized items. As with the industry you pay for when they leave the warehouse and when they return so we were only responsible for 0.5 hour. They did an AMAZING job with packing everything in(saved a ton of room) and strapping it all down. There isn’t a single negative thing I can say. I was blown away — right after they departed I called the office to express my satisfaction. I am moving(this move was for my girlfriend) at the end of this month and will use them again, as well as any other time I move. Very satisfied customer here! Based on my own experience I highly recommend them!

UPDATE4÷23÷13: We were contacted by the owner, Mimi, who did nothing to help the situation. She complained about the fact that we wrote such negative and fussy reviews before contacting her to resolve the issues. What could she possibly do at that point? The time was already lost and the damage was done. I will say again, check the«not recommended» reviews. They are almost identical to mine. Their extreme tardiness: Apparently there are laws about commercial trucks driving after rain or something like that. I don’t know the laws, but they could see that it was raining in the morning. First thought should have been to get in touch with anyone scheduled for that day and let them know that there could be a delay. Simple communication. However, she did apologize about no one contacting us when they were late. Regarding only one guy doing anything: She explained that their policy is for one mover to organize things in the truck. Okay… whatever. I wouldn’t have been nearly as irritated about that if they hadn’t been so late. Also, since my fiancé is the one who scheduled the move, according to her, I shouldn’t be posting reviews because it wasn’t ‘my’ move. Last, but not least, she made an off-hand comment about it being easier to refund the $ 109 to «just make this all go away.» Whether that was to get me to change the review or to try to make up for the bad experience I don’t know. In any case, that should pretty much sum it all up. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Per the moving companies response: Yes, it was the worst moving experience I have ever had and everyone I talk to has also commented that they’ve never heard of a worse one. I was not«satisfied» with my move and all correspondance shows that. I would think when movers are four hours late, the moving company would apolgoize. I have never to this day received an apology. Even when the moving company called me yesterday to complain about my review, I did not receive an apology then, even after I mentioned several times that I had never received one. Furthermore, I cannot believe American Eagle had the audacity to call and complain and attack me about my review. A review is someone’s assesment or examination of something. It is an opinion. If you want a positive review, give good customer service. The tip was for the two guys who actually did help move my stuff and I felt bad for them that it was 11/12pm at night on a Friday night when they left my house. It was not the movers fault that American Eagle never sent anyone to help the moving job before me get wrapped up so they weren’t four hours late, it was not the movers fault American Eagle never contacted me to notify me of delays or keep me updated, it was not the movers fault that American Eagle never once apologized. I was not going to take out my frustration with American Eagle on 18 year old kids. They complained enough about the moving company to me that I realized the job was not ideal for them and I know they have no say on what gets reimbursed and what doesn’t. They told me that American Eagle would pay for the bookcase to be reimbursed, which was not the case. They admitted it was in perfect structure before the move(and had made several moves already with a much better moving company) and that it was their fault it broke. The tip was not what I normally would have given to guys that worked about 6 hours moving my furniture. I normally would have given much much more but I assumed the cost of the bookcase would be deducted from their wages and they informed me that two of them weren’t getting paid to help with the move so I felt the little bit of money I gave divided over 4 guys for 6 hours of work was the least I could do.
