Inns of Keesler Keesler AFB

My stay at the Inns of Keesler (specifically Tyler House) exceeded my expectations. The rooms were clean, large and tastefully renovated. I did not get that typical, dreaded «hotel smell» which is important to me! Wifi was weak (iPad couldn’t even connect) but that’s about average for lodging. My friends stayed in the Shaw House and said the rooms were not as large nor nice, but still better than some local area «FEMA-​approved» hotels. One of the best lodging experiences I’ve had in the past 10 years.

I’m on an almost 2 month TDY for advance school. I’m walking distance to the beach. I’m in building 5022. The rooms are decent. The BX/​Exchange/​commissary are a three minute walk. I do have to share a bathroom but my male neighbor hasn’t given me any problems. The bathroom is clean. The housekeepers does a great job of keeping this place tidy (not that I’m a slob). I did have to get use to the train that goes by but now I’m use to it. The casinos are about a thirty minute walk but if you take the coastal transit bus you can get there in 5 minutes. There is a heater and a fan in the room if you need it. There is a coffee maker, microwave, safe, tv and small freezer and fridge. Overall, I’d stay again if we were passing through or had a longer stay.

So I stayed in bldg 2002 which I must say was pretty nice, living room, bedroom and small little sink and refridge area. I believe it may have been a recent renovation as it didn’t have the typical AF Inns smell. Overall I was pleased but had a few folks complain about the rooms after being TDY here for a few weeks.

Located only a mile from the beach the Inns of Keesler is about central to the Air Force Base. I stayed 4 nights in the temporary lodging facility. I found the front desk staff to be difficult and impatient, often responding rudely. The room was well apportioned, clean and quiet. The cabinets however were badly worn, the refrigerator and exhaust fan badly rusted and the electronics not working properly. Sum total a two-​star.
