We were in Billings for one night– looked through a couple of different restaurants to try. We had been camping in an RV and wanted something nice as a treat. Although the ambience and the staff were fantastic, the food was less than desirable. I ordered a chicken marsala that came out as a white cream sauce, with no taste of marsala at all. The manager was nice enough to discount my dinner but I would not suggest anyone ordering chicken marsala or the muscles for that matter.

Awful. Save your money for the Windmill., Rib n Chop, or even Gusick’s. First time at this establishment in 10 years. I’ll wait another 10. Food awful. Service awful. Over-priced. Only one server for the patio, and everybody appeared to be ordering dinner. Long wait. Oh, we also had coupons from the book«Enjoy the city», for Billings and the surrounding area put out by local organizations as fundraisers. Management declined to honor the coupons.

Terrible, terrible service and very mediocre food for high end prices We had a group of 9 people to celebrate a friends birthday on Labor Day weekend, and planned to have appetizers and drinks and then dinner. Our server showed up at the beginning and then basically disappeared for the night. We did get in an appetizer order but ended up having to skip dinner because she disappeared for the night and we never got to place our dinner orders. We also had to go to the bar ourselves to get drink refills because we had no server… and the bartender(or manager/whatever) at the bar was very, very rude… ignored us at first and was then clearly annoyed that we came to him to order drinks. The experience ruined my friends birthday and I am still fuming after a week. This was actually my third bad experience since this place changed hands and I will not be going back. It’s very disappointing as this place is basically next door to my house and would be so convenient.

Service was terrible. We were never told the specials when we arrived and drinks took at least a 30 minutes. Food muh… we will not be going back.

I decided to visit the restaurant from a recommendation of a friend. When we got there I was impressed by the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The wine menu and the food menu we’re both filled with a lot of delicious appetizers, entrees, desserts, and wines that I would love to have tried. I started off with the crab cakes which were absolutely delicious and the remoulade sauce was fabulous. I ended up ordering the fried halibut with vegetables and risotto, my husband ordered their specialty pasta and the only thing that set me off a little was the risotto was slightly overcooked for my liking but then I finished the evening off with their crème brûlée which was absolutely delicious. My server and the staff were wonderful and it is definitely a restaurant that I would go back to again and highly recommend to my friends.

In my opinion, ever since the Granary became«Bistecca at the Granary,» the whole establishment has gone down hill. I ordered a hamburger with blue cheese sauce on it. There was so much sauce on the burger that it became extremely soggy to the point where the bun fell completely apart and I had to eat my hamburger with a fork. I have talked to four other people who have tried the blue cheese burger and have agreed that it was too soggy. The granary used to be known for their nachos, but obviously Bistecca is not using the same recipe. The nachos were pretty good except there was a lack of cheese and a funky sauce on it that tasted a little off. Although the patio is still a great hangout spot, it can get pretty bright out there, and only about half of the tables have umbrellas. It would be nice to have some more shade. I also thought that it was odd that Happy Hour at Bistecca is 3 – 5 pm Monday through Friday. I think they should extend the Happy Hour time frame because it currently doesn’t leave anyone who works a normal 9 – 5 job any time to utilize Happy Hour. All in all, I think that the quality of Bistecca is much lower than the previous Granary.

Well. Sigh. First time visiting the Granary since new owners. Now called Bistecca at the Granary. Met the owners, nice gentleman. However, the food. Wasn’t impressed with anything. The menu is uninspired and basic. The classics with not one, not one personal touch of flare to any dish. They got steak. Seafood. Chicken. pastas, all standard and plain ingredients and takes on them. They had a Poly drive pasta that looked like their own. My veal Parmesan was bland. Cutlet was not tender as veal should be. Marinara was not homemade at all. Doctored up canned something. Noodles are plain. It kinda sucked. My moms halibut was not fresh. She just joked glorified fishsticks. She loved the Tartar, star of the show. The salad was greens from a bag tossed on a plate and sliced grape tomatoes and a few cucumbers and croutons. Blah. Dressings were good. And service was good not great. Just bummed out. I love this place. Next time I’ll stick to drinks and try the food on the bar side. I wish I had a better review but it’s a shell, food wise of its former self. :(

My mother and I went out for dinner at Bistecca at the Granery and had an amazing time. Our mushroom appetizer was to die for and, I could’ve eaten five more bowls of the French onion soup. I had the bacon wrapped scallops for my entrée which just melted in my mouth. My mother had the chicken marsala and absolutely loved it. Even though we were stuffed we definitely made room for crème brûlée which was amazing! Wonderful experience great food, great atmosphere!

The service in the bar is the worst I’ve ever had. The bar enters are ran around like they didn’t know what to do.

First visit to the new Granary — now called The Bistecca. Ordered the Poly Drive Pasta, and wasn’t disappointed as the menu indicated that it was spicy(please wipe the sweat off my forehead). Service was acceptable and the draft beer selections were very good with several regional brewers on the list. Will probably revisit in the future.

As a former regular of The Granary before new ownership took over, I have to say I am beyond disappointed with the food. My wife and I loved the original nachos and came to expect the same quality of taste and we were were very mistaken. There was a thick gravy that made all of the chips saugy with hardly any chicken or cheese on them. We also had a French Dip, very VERY salty and could hardly eat it. Lastly, my wife ordered a standard Huckleberry Moscow Mule. She didn’t even want to finish it. It tasted like huckleberry vodka and water! Very disappointing, this was our favorite spot where we shared our engagement and many other dates. We will not be back!

My husband and I went here for a date tonight. It was wonderful. It wasn’t too loud. Which I like. The service was great and all the staff was courteous and friendly. We had Prime rib it was amazing! They also had my favorite dessert Crème Brulee. It was wonderful! I would definitely go back. Would like to try the lunch menu.

Horrible experience. We arrived at 9:58, and the kitchen was closed. Not even a desert! When the Granery was open, this was never an issue as the service always went out of their way for their customers. Sorry, but the management needs to rethink their purpose for dining.

Very happy with our experiences so far with the Bistecca. The beer selections are outstanding, and the remodel effort was exactly what the space needed. The remodel 10 years ago was extensive and exceptional, and new ownership only improved the parts that needed to be tweaked. Great job! I’ve heard they have plans for the patio and I’m excited to see what they have in store. The food is a refreshing break from the monotony of billings Steahouse restaurants. We’ve enjoyed it so much that we have visited a total of four times since the re-opening. We have sampled both the Italian side of the menu and the steakhouse side of the menu and have been pleasantly surprised with both. A number of our friends have been dined there as well and have said that the tenderloin is the best in town. I love that the chef is oven roasting his vegetables(squash, onions, etc with Italian seasoning) and isn’t serving the all too common asparagus or broccolini vegetable sides like many other restaurants in town. I highly recommend getting the roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes added to any steak… You will not be disappointed! The berry tiramisu dessert is nothing short of ridiculous, and is a do-not-miss item on the menu. The service was the only slight struggle that we had in the beginning, but has progressively gotten better each time we visit. The timing was slightly off and the service staff wasn’t entirely knowledgeable of the menu. But I will just equate this to the hurdles of opening a new concept under new ownership. And as I said before each visit has progressively gotten better.

Love the new beer selection and tap room. They have a great variety of IPAs. The Diablo mussels are fantastic! The price of the food is very resonable. I love the casual/fine dining experience of Bistecca.

This is a NO Star review. Since the reopen, we have been there twice — spent over $ 200 to try things out — DISAPPOINTING. The place needs a new CHEF that can actually cook. The food was un-flavorful and over priced — Walkers Grill, Rib and Chop, and Jakes far SUPERIOR!

The granary closed down for a few months to be reopened under a new name. Unfortunately, it is even more disappointing now. I went on a Monday night at 6 pm and say in the bar. It took 15 minutes to get menu’s, then proceeded to take an additional 15 minutes to recieve our drinks. We ordered 2 soups, crab cakes and lasagna. After we had been there for over an hour, we recieved ahead basket with doughy, undercooked bread without any butter. After another 30 minutes of not recieving butter for our bread or even our soups, we decided to leave. While I understand opening a new restaurant can take time to get into a groove, this was ridiculous. They should have had enough trial runs to where it didn’t take over 2 hours to recieve the soup and salad for the meal. The only upside to this restaurant is their extensive list of draught beers.

I visited this over priced place for fix at 6, a local night out to try new businesses. It took way to long to receive drinks & apps. Many reviews told me this before I got there. But I was sure it wouldn’t happen to me. Food was ok, my sliders were very dry, not homemade buns & their garlic aolie was bulk mayo & a little canned garlic. I would have revisited this venue, but when I woke up the next morning & looked at my bank statement online… They had charged me 3 separate times for my meal, taking $ 100 dollars more than the amount I paid! I couldn’t believe it. So I called the manager & he defended there actions saying that the charges were authorizations & it happens every week to those who run debit cards. It’s their bank & they can’t do anything about it… Weird… I spent $ 21 and was charged $ 95! Now I’m waiting for $ 75 to return to my debit card… Because they defended what happened & wouldn’t take ownership for a mistake, I do not suggest this place to anyone. If other negative reviews don’t turn you off, just know that they charge extra on a regular basis.

I’ve only been here once for lunch and it was pretty good. I had the goat cheese salad and while it was almost identical to the goat cheese salad at Coastal Flats it was not nearly as good, and I am no friend to the chain restaurant, believe me. I also ordered some bread and it was an unusual selection. I took what I thought was whole wheat but turned out to be caraway rye which isn’t exactly what I wanted but it was fine, too. All in all it was a nice lunch, my companions all seemed to enjoy their meals, but nothing was spectacular. A comment about flies: I have noticed a ridiculous amount of flies at restaurants in Billings when seated outdoors, not just at this one, but at others, too. I have never been so swarmed by flied when eating anywhere in the world as I have been here in Billings. The is not specific to The Granary but something to consider when eating outdoors in the summertime here in Billings. This is my first summer here so I don’t know if this is normal or if there was a fly population explosion this year for some reason.
