It’s not easy finding sushi in Montana. We are thrilled we found Saketome. Make reservations, and be prepared for some out of this world sushi.

I’d like to give them negative star, but that isn’t an option. I rarely do negative reviews. Not sure I’ve ever done one on Unilocal.Usually, I share treasures. BUT, I can’t believe a «cool» place still serves foie gras. It’s almost 2016. Grow the F up. Inhumane treatment of animals to that degree is abhorrent, ludicrous. I know most meat has its issues and am thankful for responsible meat sourcing and hope more and more people aim for ethical meat sourcing, and do their best along the way. That level of inhumane treatment though, like veal, is WRONG. The twenty-something hipster waitresses and the conscious looking people enjoying their meal there should be disgusted, and the owner/manager should be beyond ashamed. I get it, sourcing is hard. I’ve been on that rat-race a long time. But some choices are easier than others. Not supporting things like force-fed til they die geese is one of those no-brainers. I’d love to sake it to them. Oh, I also heard their sushirts sucks by the bartender who luckily told us about 459 Grille right down the street.

Although the restaurant is small, but the atmosphere is pleasant. We were with another couple when we dined here 3 days ago. The hostess greeted us with a sweet smile and the waitress was very friendly. The food was really good! Everything we ordered was perfect. I love that its downtown bigfork. We would definitely come back again soon.

Agadashi Tofu. Could make a meal on its own. But that’s not why most people come here. They want Sushi. And this is as good as you can get in in Montana. Repeat after me, «in Montana.» It really is pretty stinkin good sushi though. We had the poke, a special that night which wasn’t that great. But the rolls were yummy. We had a vegan friend with us, so half our plates were vegan and they were fab. They are very vegan friendly here. Intimate dining area. Good service. Great wine selection. Full bar. We asked our waitress to choose our dishes and she did a good job, but I couldn’t tell you the names of the rolls. I think they were off the menu.

If you are from a small town maybe you’d think this place is good. If you’re accustomed to sushi in a big city, skip this place and try one of the other restaurants in Bigfork. I ate here last week and the service took forever. The waiter hardly said one word to any of us. I had a drink that was so sickeningly sweet that I couldn’t even drink it. The sushi was more focused on «presentation» than quality. There was one roll I almost gagged on because it was so disgusting. The vegetarian option was so-so, but completely uncreative. It would be worthwhile to take a cue from some other sushi places and put a little thought into creating vegetarian options that are a bit more tasty. There were several members of my party who were completely drunk, and neither the server nor owner made an attempt to take their keys or call them a cab. Believe the other one-star reviews — if you have to choose, go to Wasabi in Whitefish.

Amazing sushi! We live in CA(and eat plenty of sushi) and always love coming to Bigfork and eating here! I recommend their Les Halles roll and they make a mean Moscow Mule too!

Would do no stars if I could. Not that I ate the food, rude front of house. Went in today. No tables without reservations. So we asked to get it to go. Girl came back and said we just sat a bunch of new tables so no food to go. How about saying okay but it’s going to be ½ hour or 40 minutes. We could have gone for a walk and came back. Totally RUDE. You going to turn away phone orders to go. No you tell them how long it will take. Clueless But we went down the street and had a great meal with awesome servers.

I really like this sushi! Bravo! Have been many times. But at the risk of posting this and ticking these folks off… the service is consistently bad. I won’t sugar coat it. Some of the worst in the valley. I will keep returning when I get the craving though because the sushi is well done, fresh and unique. However, do not enter this place expecting to leave in 1 – 1.5 hours. Depending on how busy they are, we are typically 2 – 2.5 hours in to our dinner before we can escape. I understand the joint is small so they keep staff to a minimum. I can totally sympathize with a swamped waitress. Do not get me wrong here. I get it. It’s just that something has to be tweaked or changed. Other restaurants with minimal staff make it work. Like I said, I love the sushi! And the atmosphere is great. And who doesn’t love Bigfork?! But, don’t forget what I wrote when you are waiting on chopsticks, dishes, rolls, drinks especially, or the bill. Definitely go try the sushi but fair warning!

Stopped in tonight, Friday night, for sushi with my husband. Was excited per the previous reviews but this place was disappointing. — sit at the bar and you have full view of the dishwasher during your entire meal. — sushi chefs never said a word to us. Awkward and rude considering we were 2 feet from them. — sushi chef sloppily threw fish dishes around in the refrigerator. — rolls were sloppy, no surprise. Rice wasn’t sticking and they were drenched in sauce. The lemon rinds were an awful decision to have on a roll. — roll descriptions are complicated and confusing. No need for unheard of names for fish and spicy mayo. C’mon.

What a delightful surprise! I’m not a sushi person but loved this place. We showed up without reservations but we were able to be served at the bar. Cat, our server, was fantastic! Prompt service with great recommendations. Food was outstanding — the four of us had quite a variety and raved about how delicious each one tasted. Would highly encourage everyone to try this restaurant — even if you’re not a sushi lover!!!

We love this place! The food is AMAZING. Not your typical Japanese/Sushi menu but that’s ok because the creativity of the specialty rolls has ruined me for regular sushi places. VERY small so sometimes when busy it can be loud and service can be slow, but they are always friendly and are doing the best job they can given the size of the restaurant. Highly recommended. I’d go here over Wasabi in Whitefish any day.

Decent sushi IMHO, but considering where it’s located, it’s good. We had the edamame, Maverick roll and the DT Aftermath. The edamame was a good-sized portion. The waitress wasn’t as attentive as I would’ve liked(edamame sat on the counter for several minutes with her going past it a number of times before bringing it over, didn’t refill water promptly). The rolls took longer to get to our table than I expected. She brought the wasabi and ginger after we began to eat already(she stated that she had forgotten to bring it to us). Would I return? Maybe. But since I’m from Los Angeles, I’m not hurting for a place to eat great sushi.

My rating is broken down as follows: *food: absolutely delicious. The wakame salad was perfect, the miso unique, thick, salty and delicious, the wasabi perfect and the sushi delicious and fresh! * service: our hostess was friendly, thoughtful and helpful; she cared about her role in customer service. Our server was neglectful and curt, and did NOT want to be there.(BUT who knows– perhaps she was having a rough day.) Overall, we absolutely loved our meal but they lose a star for the neglect.

This place is by far hands down THEBEST sushi place around the area. The sashimi is always fresh and full of flavor, the ingredients are also fresh and very very flavorful. Ive tried everything on the menu and love them all and everything is beautifully displayed on the plates. The staff is awesome and one of the waiters Kat is one of the best waiters ive had always on top of things and always having are table ready when we make reservations. If you like sushi you must go here!!!

This place is delicious, probably the best sushi in the Flathead. I love the Massive Attack roll and the Clockwork Orange. The salmon sashimi is always perfectly fatty and fresh. Oh, and the miso soup is hands down the best I’ve ever had and the sake selection is GREAT! My only complaint is they don’t take American Express. While that might not seem like a big deal, it’s huge for those of us who use it exclusively for business. I would definitely visit more often if I could use my preferred card.

Best sushi ever!!! Honestly I lived and worked in many Japanese and Korean areas in Seattle but none of the sushi compared to the amazing flavors Drake, Tiff, and Hanna bring to the table. If your in the valley this is a must.

creativity, quality, presentation, taste and selection make Saketome Sushi one of the best restaurants in the Flathead Valley If you’re just passing through the Flathead, don’t miss it. It rivals the best sushi restaurants anywhere

This place is the bomb! Everything was delicious! The miso soup is so good and has tons of mushrooms which I love! We think we like it better than Wasabi. :)
