The guy who was manning the shop while I was there last week was a total jerk and the lady behind the register was less than friendly. I was prepared to drop a few hundred dollars in the shop and only spend $ 18 as the vibe was that bad. p. s. Highly overpriced on LP’s, gear and accessories(Ernie Ball Slinky Strings for $ 9.29!!! that’s twice the price I normally pay for EB slinky strings!!!)

Being an avid LP record collector, I was surprised and excited to find this store in Big Bear. However, after spending close to an hour flipping through their well-organized stacks I left disappointed & empty-handed. Most of their records are considerably overpriced and/or conditional. The stock is mostly run-of-the-mill 70’s &80’s pop/rock(Styx, America, Foreigner, Chicago, Wings, etc…) priced between $ 8-$ 20. Still, Village Music is a refreshing alternative to the customary gift shops & novelty stores that otherwise crowd Pine Knot Ave.

Awful angry people who run this store. Extremely overpriced records and poor selection. Do not recommend

Been here 3x now, I’ve found something I wanted every time for a pretty reasonable price. Prices are hit and miss, some are wildly overpriced and some are reasonable. Decent dollar bins. The selection is not very broad, mostly used Dan Fogelberg and the Doobie Brothers genres. Not a lot of obscure stuff. also very picked over. Every time I’ve been in there, the lady has been working, she is really friendly and conversational. Overall I generally look forward to this place when I visit big bear, I just wish they would get some better stuff.

The vinyls are well organized and we found many great deals in the $ 1 bin. Connie the owner is knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

My kids and I really enjoyed this store. If you are a record lover this is the place to be. My son was thrilled to browse their selection of cassette tapes. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Worst customer service I’ve ever had. I went to this store for a while despite their high prices due to it’s convenience and I thought the people there were friendly. Big mistake. One day I decided to browse the store while I waited for my movie to start(it’s very close to the movie theaters) and picked up a guitar to play. I didn’t see a sign that said«Ask to play instruments.», which I didn’t think was too unreasonable a request, and when the owner saw me he was understandably upset, but he didn’t stop there. He continued to talk down on me like I didn’t even deserve to be in his store, then going on to call me a disrespectful kid and blaming my mother for raising me to be a terrible person. I was silent up until this point, when I dropped a nice f bomb on the old dude and walked out, but this experience has stuck with me. I’d rather make the hour and a half trip down the hill to the nearest Guitar Center than give this store another penny, I already spent a hundred dollars too many there. Don’t give these people your money, they don’t deserve it if they can’t even handle customers.

Jonesy is a talker but still a good selection of vinyl. Picked up a mono Blonde on Blonde in good condition for $ 40. His wife runs the register and don’t bring food or drinks inside as accidents do happen and there are keyboards, guitars, etc on display. Don’t try to be a mixmaster flash or jam master jay on the turntable either or I won’t be able to sample the LPs before I buy!
