For generations this 100+ acre peninsula was owned by a private party. It was purchased by the government(Rachel Carson Preserve) in 2011. Since then they have opened the land to the public and marked a trail from the entrance on Granite Point Road all the way to Timber Island. A half mile trail of minimal difficulty goes along the Little River. Great views of the marsh and Goose Rocks in Kennebunkport on the other side. At low tide, you could easily walk across the river. The end of the trail has access to Timber Island, but be careful. Make sure you follow the tides or you could get stuck out there. Yet another beautiful part of Biddeford that you need to see — they weren’t kidding when they said there’s nothing else like this between Portland and Boston. As far as parking, there are only 6 spaces on Granite Point Road. This could be an issue in the summer, where chances are if you park outside the designated areas the City of Biddeford may ticket you. The neighbors are probably not pleased that more people will be coming to their area to visit this.
