Dr McDonough is the best Dr I have ever seen. I needed to vistt another Dr a while ago while Dr McDonough was unavailable. The place I went to was very reputable with good doctors, but the difference between the too was undeniable. Dr McDonough is the most attentive Dr. He takes the time to explain what the issue is and makes sure I understand and am comfortable with the the solution. He will spend as much time as needed and I dont feel rushed. The only minus to that is at times I may wait a while to see him, but believe me. The wait is worth it. I will see Dr McDonough for as long as I am in Los Angeles.

Service used to be impeccable years ago when the business was at it’s peak.
However, over the past few years, the wait time to see Dr. McDonough, and even Will — the physicians assistant — is just inconsiderate and disrespectful of their clients time.
Today I waited for almost 2 hours from when I walked in till when I walked out since no doctor was available. I asked for my refund and told them I’m not coming back. Will came out to apologize but enough is enough. This is not the first time this has happened — in fact, this has been an on-​going occurrence for the past few years — I stayed because I have history with this practice and they HAVE provided great service, but something has changed with their business/​client service.
The sad thing is, its like they don’t even care or realize this is a problem. I rarely see more than 2 — 3 patients in this office at any given time. and most of them are in the waiting room… so I can’t understand what Dr. McDonough and Will are so busy with when they’re all just hanging around the office.
The staff, while nice and friendly, are unprofessional and spend their time socializing, watching videos, listening to music and gossiping.
I was flat out told by one of the staff members that most patients accept that Dr. McDonough will run late, so they purposely show up 30 minutes past their set appointment to meet him on ‘his schedule’. I’m sorry, but I work a full time job and have deadlines and responsibilities to manager — not take half a day off to talk to him for 15 to 20 minutes over some random issue.

Terrible wait times. Runs unnecessary tests all time. Inconsiderate and downright rude staff. Good luck seeing Dr McDonough as even though you MAY have what’s called an appointment, he may not be available and you’ll be customarily passed off to a Physician’s Assistant (glorified nurse). All considered, if you object to any of these things, you’ll receive a letter asking you not to come back. I know of several patients there who has received these. If and when you get to see Dr McDonough, he’s pretty good. But good luck with getting that much. But the way he and his staff treats their patients is very disrespectful. After taking an 8 year hiatus from doctors, physical exams and blood tests, I decided to jump back into the game. I was well into my 40’s and I really just wanted to confirm that I was doing okay. I asked for a referral from a friend who works with a lot of doctors, and he recommended Dr. David McDonough. It took a week or two to get an appointment as a new patient, but it was well worth the wait.
Dr. McDonough is awesome! He is the most complete and thorough doctor that I have ever been to in my life and I know that he truly cares about my health. When I told him about my spotty medical history, he proposed a very thorough workup including specific tests for arterial disease and cancer screening. I knew that I wanted to take better care of myself, so I gave the green light for everything. Most of the results were great, some of them were not so great, but we are managing them as well as we can. I see Dr. McDonough every few months for follow-​up visits that I actually look forward to!
As far as the rest of the office goes, I have nothing but good reviews. Oscar is Dr. McDonough’s nurse & right hand man, and he is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The office manager and receptionists are always happy to see me, and that means a lot. I am a big chicken when it comes to getting my blood sampled, but I have to say that the phlebotomists here are sublime.
The only ugliness that I have ever seen in this office has originated from my fellow patients:
I’ve seen patients scream at receptionists for all manner of things that are beyond their control, like higher-​than-​expected insurance co-​pays, longer-​than-​expected wait times, and having to schedule an appointment with the doctor to review lab results.
I’ve heard patients in neighboring exam rooms make a lot of noise because they’ve been waiting for more than a few minutes and they need to get going to their next appointment.
I’ve never once heard a patient complain about Dr. McDonough’s knowledge, experience, skill level or enthusiasm.
To be fair, I know that many of the patients who come to this office are ill. Many of them are seriously ill. Some of them are terminally ill. I have not walked a mile in their shoes, but I know that it’s not fair and I think that it probably makes them very frustrated and angry when things don’t go as planned. In my heart, I think that this is where most of the complaints come from.
