Sushi Kiyono(SK) is a nice little restaurant on Beverly Dr. just south of Wilshire where the street is tough to get through all the time(I try to avoid it at all costs). The fish here is ultra fresh and the prices are actually really good considering it’s in BH. We happened to be in the area and had found an excellent parking space(sad to let go a good parking spot… haha) so we decided to walk over. We ordered the sashimi assortment lunch special for $ 18.80 and the salmon skin salad(which comes with CA roll) for $ 13. You also get a little salad and miso soup with lunch. All and all, for lunch, SK is an excellent choice. For dinner, the prices are just a tad bit higher which isn’t bad at all. I am not a big roll or bento person, therefore, it is imperative that for me, a sushi restaurant is all about the raw fish(the rawwwwer the better… LOL). The services here can be a hit or a miss, but the cute little old man(the owner) is always attentive should he sees you in need of anything. I highly recommend SK, and yes, Unilocalers got this one correct with 4 stars! I’ll be back and so should you. =)

Hello and sorry for my English, I am French. I live in LA since 6 month only. I do not usually send criticize, but frankly, it restorant is a shame! I was eaten at lunch with my two children. We ordered 3 miso soup, 1 white rice, 1 Edamame, 6 pairs of salmon sushi and sashimi 4, 1 coca cola. They brought us white rice, and coca cola and then we waited 10 minutes. And then he brought us Edamame 3 and sashimi. 3 The sashimi was awful and white. I have to say the waitress to take it back. Then after 40 minutes they bring us sushi and horror, there are black! We enjoy them and they are infected we can not eat them. They did not bring us our sashimi. After 1:35 horror, I ask the check by having all return without eating, and it has made us all pay. We did not even eat. I Emene my children eat a sandwich in front. A shame.

I ordered really simple rolls. Wasn’t a busy night. Still took nearly half an hour before any food got out. Service was adequate at best. Won’t be coming back. There are better sushi restaurants around LA.

I went in asking for only raw sushi but I read the previous Unilocal and it seems that the baked lobster hand roll is the hit. Perfect way to end the meal except you want another and another! Priced reasonably and super fresh! A must visit!!!

Love, love, love this place! So, you’re probably wondering why I’m only giving it 4 stars… it’s my 2nd time here, and the 2nd time that hot food orders seem to disappear into the black hole. We ordered the sushi assortment, the chicken teriyaki, a spicy yellowtail cut roll, salmon roe nigiri, god father roll, and the agedashi tofu. We were almost half way done with our meal, and had asked about the teriyaki and tofu… finally the teriyaki arrived, and the tofu was the last item to arrive… we had finished everything else by then. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi, rolls, nigiri are all amazing. It’s was a little disappointing that the hot food items were so delayed. Also, the chicken teriyaki was a bit odd. It was a piece of chicken, with dipping sauce on the side(see pic). The flavor were clearly not infused during a marinade or cooking process. The front of the house was run by Kaz, and he is awesome! Super friendly and thoughtful! This is definitely my go-to sushi place in LA, but I may skip the hot items.

Another overpriced and over-hyped restaurant in Los Angeles. The blue crab roll was bland, the spicy tuna roll was not bad but not good either. The scallop roll could be better. For the price I expected much higher quality… I’d rather pay $ 10 more and get sugar fish. I guess because they are in Beverly hills, they think they can charge $ 8 a roll that’s not fresh. Three Stars because the service was great.

Great neighborhood spot. The fish is fresh. It is not the best sushi but great for the price. They have a great menu with traditional style sushi and some fun rolls. Everything we had was tasty. The décor is simple and the staff is friendly. For the location and the quality it is well priced. I will definitely be back.

Four stars because the regular rolls, hand rolls, and appetizers are a little bit overpriced – yes even for Bev Hills. I get it, the location might make the price, but this restaurant itself doesn’t scream expensive and the quality is no sushi-sushi down the street. If you’re in this area and don’t mind spending money, I recommend walking a block down to Sushi Sushi. We came at lunch time and that particular day they were slammed. I ordered the nigiri lunch special and my friend got the chicken teriyaki special. She didn’t comment on the food so I’m guessing the chicken was OK. Nigiri — good size cuts, they add wasabi to the rice Miso soup — really really good flavorful but not overly salty soup — definitely a standout. oddly haha Salad — good dressing Parking — good luck! I definitely want to try the baked lobster handroll if I got another chance but at $ 9 for a handroll, I’m skeptical!

The location on Beverly Drive is great. Make sure you get a seat by the window to people watch. It makes the experience much more fun The food is not the best sushi but for lunch it is a perfect choice with many lunch specials and a la carte I started with the Uni sushi that was very creamy and nice I also had the spicy yellow tail salad lunch that came with miso soup and spicy tuna roll for $ 15.00. Decent price and the food was good although the yellow tail should have been sliced thinner

The. Bomb. I love sushi, I always have. This is the only place I’ve ever been where I’ve never even wanted Sriracha on my table. MYFAVES: Giant Clam– Many sushi spots have this on their menu, yet never have it. Kiyono not only has it, but masterfully prepares it, so it’s firm texture and light, sweet flavor shines. Salmon– so oily, so fresh, so good! Salmon for me is like my litmus test for sushi places. Kiyono is alkaline, baby! Albacore Special — Delicious! I’m not a fan of albacore, because I’ve had renditions of THIS dish at other places and it was appalling. The sliced albacore has a beautiful texture, light, but distinct flavor, topped with sliced roasted garlic and fried onions. The ponzu was a perfect match to heighten the dish. EXCELLENT! Baked Lobster Handroll– Come here just for this! The lobster is succulent, the rice is delectable, and the seasoning is magic! Trust me! Yellowtail Collar– I’ll admit, I find it bizarre when people don’t order nigiri or sashimi when eating sushi, but hot damn, this is like FISHBUTTER!!! Order it and thank me later ;) Snow Crab Sunomono — I’ve never had cucumbers that are this well marinated and this crispy; superb! The crab, itself, is divine and oceanic. THESERVICE: Great! From the door front valet, to the warm owner/greeter, to the talented sushi chefs… I love this place! Extra– everytjing I’ve had here is good… al;l sashimi, all hand rolls, even the bathroom is clean as a whistle! I def recommend to ALL Unilocalers! enjoy! xo– Andrea

I stumbled upon this place while trying to find a decent sushi place in BH. The location is quite small and requires street parking. I decided to try the edamame and vegetable tempura sushi. The edamame is probably some of the best I’ve had. The beans were so flavorful and tasted extremely fresh. You get a decent sized portion too! I think it went for around $ 4 – 5. The sushi. the sushi was incredible. The only downside was that the vegetable tempura sushi was almost the size of my palm, which made it incredibly difficult to eat. I’m sure I was getting a lot of funny looks from other restaurant guests as I’m very adamantly trying to eat the dang thing. I had to push some of the tempura out just so I could actually eat it. But, it was absolutely delicious! $ 7 for the roll which was not bad! Great sushi place to try :)

This sushi place is small and intimate, but it’s right by my job, so I easily found it through a quick Unilocal search for sushi. It’s much more reasonably priced for sushi than the other options in the neighborhood(e.g., sugarfish), but completely delivers on flavor! I usually only get the spicy tuna rolls, but their salmon teriyaki lunch special is quite a steal! For under $ 15, you get a delicious offering of salmon teriyaki with white rice, side salad, and miso soup with your choice of a California or spicy tuna roll that can fill you up before you even get to your sushi(maybe I should’ve started my meal with the sushi first)! The space is small, so there is limited seating, but I love that they have seats around the sushi chefs’ table. Also, the service is really nice and the people are always kind. Parking is available at meters right outside or there are lots nearby with free 2 hour parking before 6pm. They accept credit cards!

Cordial and comfortable dining. The yellow tail was good but not of the quality to which I am accustomed, however, perhaps it was attributable to time I patronized as they were running out of yellowtail that evening. The slices seemed to reflect that. The wasabi is of the cheaper paste variety, not the fresh kind like you can get from Sushi Sushi nearby. Portions are larger of course than from the aforementioned but it is in compensation for less than perfect slices. I want quality over filler. Ginger is verging on the packaged, rubbery, soaked-in-vat side. Overall, it’s decent for a quick fix in this neighborhood but not my first choice.

The sashimi is sooo fresh here! We just happened to wander in after attempting to go to Urth Caffe and finding the line way too long. There was no wait here at lunch time on a Thursday. However, the food did take a very long time to get out. We probably waited over 30 minutes. That is my only complaint. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but it cleared out while we were eating. The quality was amazing. Loved how fresh their yellow tail was and the portions were really big for the lunch special. It is not a cheap lunch, but a good deal for good quality sushi with big portion sizes. I really enjoyed the yellow tail salad which was very large on its own, but it also came with a spicy tuna roll. The servers were very attentive and refilled our green tea regularly. Overall very pleased with service and the fresh nigiri and sashimi. Mmmmm

Hands down the absolute best dinner my husband and I have had. I usually don’t eat fish, but had a few bites of my husband’s omakase(more on that later) as well as some of the miso-glazed cod. The cod was one of, if not the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted and made me reconsider my usual ‘no seafood’ stance. Wow. The omakase(chef’s choice) isn’t on the menu — we only knew about it thanks to another Unilocaler’s review. It is an insane value here — just piece after piece of beautiful food, prepared in front of you by a true master artist. Husband said it was the freshest and most delicious sushi he has had in the states. Besides that, the service was incredibly friendly and spot on. When we first went in we weren’t quite sure what to expect — pretty bright, not too crowded, and no music was playing. Don’t let that put you off — by the end of the meal we didn’t want to leave, we were in such a state of food-induced bliss.

Unbelievable shocking Omakase experience. Do NOT come and order rolls or any BS fish drowned in sauce. What are the chances that a Beverly Hills restaurant would not be ridiculously overpriced, and actually serve top-level fish quality on par(or superior) to Mako and Kimagure? In addition to being a wonderful experience on a personal level — with Omotenashi spirit in full force??? One of the best meals of my life under the skill of Kawasaki san. Unreal. I don’t even know what to say other than go here and don’t order a roll, don’t order a plate. Just get Omakase in front of this Taisho master and let him do what he does. Infinitely better than the Jiro dreams of BS. This is the real deal, with perfect pacing, incredibly subtle balance of flavors and of course, a reasonable price which makes eating here actually affordable. One of the nicest owners and staff that I have come across in LA… My highest recommendation!!! 10 stars!

I think the sushi here is better than Sugarfish’s and it’s way cheaper. For the same amount of money, you’d actually walk out with a full belly at Kiyono. Everything is super fresh, even the simple rolls like the Las Vegas(shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna) are the best I’ve had in town… the shrimp tempura is always crunchy and warm, and the spicy tuna is never full of mayo. I can’t remember the name of the sushi chef who stands in the middle of the sushi bar and works on Tuesday nights, but if you’re there on a Tuesday, go straight to his area. He’s very friendly and knows how to make your meal just right for you.
