Food are expensive, but the ambiance is worth the price. Nothing special, the chocolate fountain is a bit bitter, and salad only have several leaves. Ps. They automatically charge you 18% tips.

We visited Monsieur Marcel on our way over to the Annenberg for a Unilocal Elite event… the play A Brief Encounter. It’s part specialty market, part French Bistro. Seems like it’s probably more of a lunch spot than it is a dinner spot. Granted we were there earlier in the week and it was near closing time, but the place was exceptionally quiet. Maybe it’s because the shops were long closed down. Not much foot traffic on Cañon Drive this time of night. We had cheese and charcuterie along with some red wine as we were in a bit of a rush. You have your choice of the French, Spanish or Italian plates. We chose the Spanish plate which included manchego, cabrales, garrotxa, jamon serrano, pallacios and chorizo. To drink we had the Sangiovese & Taleggio… a nice light red. Went well with the plate. The service was friendly, but I felt the internal space is too large and cold for an evening date. Might be nicer to sit outside. Seems like a great place to place to get specialty cooling items and bread too.

Beverly Hills is a shopping and dining mecca for tourists and local socialites alike. Expensive eateries are separated by even more expensive salons and boutiques. Walking piles of silicone are found mingling with fanny pack wearers and socks-with-sandals aficionados. Monsieur Marcel is a specialty market situated between Wolfgang’s and Nic’s that serves up one of the best light lunches in the area. Carrying bags filled with expensive crap can work up an appetite, and the patio in front of Marcel’s sure is inviting. The lunch menu has plenty of options including sandwiches(hot and cold), salads, soups, and various meat dishes. But the crostinis is what we had our eyes on! We ended up getting two orders of three different crostinis. First came the tomato, burrata, and olive spread, followed by the prosciutto and capers, and lastly the fig and speck. Each of these two-or-three bite pieces of heaven was better than the last, with my favorite being the burrata and tomato. Pair these light appetite satisfiers with a nice glass of red and it makes for a pretty great lunch. Plus, it makes the walk back to the car that much easier! UPDATE I drove by Monsieur Marcel’s the other day and it seems to now be closed. Dang!

I’m not sure I’ve ever had better food, which is a bit problematic because this place isn’t close by and isn’t in my usual price range. I came here with a friend for their happy hour(half off wine and discounted cheese plates). The menu isn’t terribly large but it can still be a bit intimidating. Luckily, the fellow who sat us, I believe his name was Nick, helped by steering us toward a cheese plate. And when it came we knew he’d made the right choice for us. After a cheese plate and a glass of wine each we resumed our journey down flavor lane with an order of mussels and a burger, both with truffle fries. When the food came I wondered if my stomach could hold it all, but after a bite I knew it would. The burger was juicy and the onions and mushrooms on it were perfectly cooked. But it’s the truffle fries that blew my mind! They are so good. I’m drooling as I type this just remembering them. Get them when you go here, you won’t be sorry. Finally, we had some macaroons. The salted caramel and the chocolate are to die for, and good thing because I’m pretty sure at this point my stomach was ready to burst. Go here for happy hour and stay to people watch and eat great food! Plus if you have any questions I’m sure the staff will be more than happy to help. And, as an added bonus, parking in the garage next door is free for the first 2 hours. As long as you’re going to splurge it might as well be on delicious food!

Their chocolate selection is amazing! Lots of hard-to-find brands. I specifically go out of my way to buy chocolate here. Need to try the food at some point though.

What a meal! Free on Friday evening, this dine was meant to be. Both of us creatures of habit, were gravitating toward a Momed reprise until I mentioned Monsieur Marcel as in the Fairfax Farmers Market was just up the street. The plan was to walk on by, catch the vibe, peruse the menu and decide. Pleasant patio, welcoming hostess convinced us to stay even before we glanced at the offerings. Consult with the sommelier resulted in a 2010 Santa Barbara, CA chard with pear notes, perfect for fish dishes to come! After one sip, we decided to keep the bottle. It returned to our table in an ice loaded vinyl bag (Available in Monsieur Marcel’s Market, $ 4.95 per bag. 10% off your purchase with same-day, restaurant receipt.). Watermelon gazpacho, smooth, spicy, fruity, with a duo of mini melon balls would have been enough for me but my friend insisted I needed protein so I ordered the salad Niçoise . Had I been hungrier, I would have sent this back. Dressing, traditional ingredients were fine save the lettuce core and microscopic eggshell still clinging to a hardboiled half(3.25 stars). Seriously, I was fine to sip, pick while conversing. However, my friend’s choice of salmon on a bed of spaghetti squash with capers plus a side of ratatouille was a taste adventure of fish done right, complimented with veggies of equal caliber(5 stars and nothing but)! She’s got a sweet tooth. In hopes of tempting me to help her eat them, she ordered both the satiny rich mousse au chocolate and the light yet hardy tarte tatin. Just one bite per was enough to deem them delicious desserts, worthy on all counts! Frank, our server was attentive, efficient, kind and funny. Bookmarked to return for Monsieur Marcel’s happy hour, 3:00PM to 7:00PM, Monday through Friday, 2 for 1 wine by the glass and ½ off corkage fee! Oh, and Amazon Fresh will deliver Monsieur Marcel’s specialty items in the Los Angeles area!

I usually go there to get sweet treats, chocolate, pastries, macaroons… The staff is always really nice and helpful. I went there once for lunch and we had the artichoke leeks goat cheese quiche, which was really great and came with a side of salad. We also had the poulet au jus(chicken). The chicken was so moist and tender! We will be back for lunch or dinner and I will definitely keep on going to satisfy my sweet tooth!

Came here for brunch with a bunch of friends and ordered the eggs benedict, but I picked at the croquette(which was super rich) and we also had the banana nutella crêpe. Delicious food, polite service. Super casual place in the BH, I like that this place isn’t pretentious for a French restaurant and you can pass the time afterwards shopping in their market. Parking is free in the structure on the side as long as you’re under 2 hours. I expect to return.

If you’re looking for a casual, French-themed dining experience that doesn’t try too hard to emulate the Parisian sidewalk café from a Monet painting, Monsieur Marcel will definitely make an impression on your canvas. I don’t even know what that means. What I do know is, the macaroons are good, the salads are better, there’s enough wine and cheese to feed the crew of a French battleship, and there’s not a beret nor eyebrow pencil moustache in sight, unless you’re donning it, mon amant. Even if you’re a bottomless pit, you’ll get full here, whether you’re trying to keep it simple with pain grillé avec du beurre et une tasse du café ou jus d’orange, or want to protein-load for your bodybuilding competition, with a big fat steak and a bunch of hard-to-pronounce(but undoubtedly calorically catastrophic) French sauces. A full line-up of desserts and entrées both carnivorous and green round out the team roster, though the crêpes – bien sûr! – deserve to be in your starting lineup. Parking is two-hours-for-free before 5:00pm at the adjacent underground parking lot, or only $ 5 flat rate after quitting time. Dresscode is nonexistent, so go ahead and wear your suit, promdress, bikini, or jeans and Wu Tang Clan tee shirt you got at Goodwill. If you’re on a date, bring at least $ 50 if you’re going to eat light, though it’s better to bring $ 100 so that you can get hammered on wine, too. The attached delicatessen is useful if you’re just going food-shopping or want takeout. Service is sometimes a bit slow at the deli counter compared to the restaurant(on other occasions, it’s the other way around), but it’s nothing to storm the Bastille about. Think of Monsieur Marcel as Canter’s Deli, somewhat more expensive, with a smaller menu, and missing the brine pickles and Guns n’ Roses memorabilia. Also there’s no illegal casino in back. Not that there is one at Canter’s… (Unless you know the password) Comment-on dit en anglais, «je né parle pas la français»? Oh yeah! Speakeasy. (I still don’t know what I mean)

The macaroons are some of the best I’ve had. They are extremely fresh and not overly sweet. I had the braised short ribs and my friend had the chicken. The napoleon was good, but I would pass on the hot apple tart. The tuna tartare app was also worth revisiting. Tip — 10% off purchases from the case goods if you’ve eaten in the restaurant.

I didn’t eat here, rather I went shopping at the market in the back. Afterall, I probably can’t afford to eat here and shop in the back at the same day. I’ve not had the food here at this location nor at the Farmer’s Market for what they’re known for but I have to say, the cheese and the charcuterie does look amazingly good. 2⁄3 of the location is restaurant and 1⁄3 is devoted to the so call market. There is a happy hour here that I took a picture of, just click on the«pic». It’s M-F from 3 – 7. Yes, I know the picture is upside down. I didn’t say I was good at taking pictures. I’m not your«typical» Asian. I came here for my bottle of Secret Squirrel cold brew(they are the best!) as with there are a lot of other goods from local artisans in the market area. Thumbs up for that! There is valet here as is plenty of parking on the street meters. I believe there are a few green zone drop off areas on Canon Dr if you just need to drop in and out.

This place is surprisingly huge for the location. It’s hard to tell from the outside that there is so much seating! The crepes are great… I arrived late to a lady’s brunch today, so I didn’t order my own but had a taste of the Florentine and a banana one(don’t know the type exactly) both were delicious. I did get an OJ and was a little bummed that it isn’t fresh squeezed, but that’s not a big deal honestly. Service is great and our waiter Marcel(although not THE Marcel) was VERY attentive and extremely helpful. Definitely looking forward to going back when I actually have time to order my own meal and not snake food off of my girlfriend’s plates.

After reading the reviews I was a bit scared to try this place out, especially for my birthday, but my entire party of 4 have no regrets. Everything was fantastic! The Ambiance: Beautiful, clean, new. I love how I feel(for a second) that I’m sitting at a bistro in Paris. Which is obviously where I’d rather be. The Service: Amazing! Our waitress was super friendly and enthusiastic. I wish I remember her name! Sounds odd to say this but she may have been the best server I’ve ever had. The Food: *Bread Basket: Good selection and fresh. Not the best bread I’ve ever had but the salted butter? Fantastic. *Beet Salad: Hands down the best beets I’ve ever had … and I LOVE beets. I definitely can’t wait to have this again. *Smoked Salmon Crostini: Divine. Fresh and light. Just perfect. *Scallops: This might have been the highlight of the meal. These were cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of salt. *Bresola: I don’t eat meat so I didn’t get to try this but it was finished by my friends in a flash. The figs looked amazing. *Hamburger: Again, I don’t eat meat but my friends enjoyed this. I think they mentioned it was a bit rare but still good. *Goat Cheese Salad(this might not be the official name): I’m not a huge fan of goat cheese but this was good. The honey drizzled on top really made the dish. The Bottom Line: I love this place. It’s way better than the Farmer’s Market location and I will be back. (Just a suggestion if management is reading this… your online menu could use some intervention. It’s a bit small and hard to read.)

I came here with a friend for dinner and absolutely fell in love with the place. I have been to the one in the Farmers Market and I feel this one is MUCH better. It’s in a newer facility, more arid, less crowded and also a parking structure connected! As for the food it was very good. I ordered the filet with a salad. It came with roquefort cheese sauce as well! We then got crazy and ordered a bunch of cheese. My friend had the sea bass and was extremely pleased. There is a market in the back and they have great items to buy! I strongly suggest coming here for a good and nice dinner. They have wine that covers the WHOLE right wall that wraps around. All in all, I want to come back and enjoy myself like I did the other evening.

This place was good. I went here for lunch and had the Calamari Salad. Fresh and different. Big open space to sit and people watch with also a deli and wine setup on the sides too. Service was quick and the place is inviting. Try and request to sit deeper in the restaurant as sitting next to the big doors can be distracting. I’m coming back for more and see what else this restaurant can offer! Cheers!

I had eaten at Monsieur Marcel at The Farmers Market(3rd& Fairfax) the last two days(Monday & Tuesday). I love their salad avec poulet. I was taking a walk in Beverly Hills(yesterday, Wednesday) and decided to stroll down Cañon Drive and find a place to eat. What do I see? A shiny new Monsieur Marcel location. WoW! I like it. They’ve got a nice market, lots of wine & cheese, the chocolates looks yummy. Plenty of indoor seating and a nice patio along the sidewalk. Polite & pretty staff :) Even though the place recently opened the staff is already on top of things. My only complaint — they don’t have my favorite salad, the salad avec poulet :( Honestly, the tuna Niçoise salad is excellent. The ingredients are so fresh & yummy. I love Monsieur Marcel and I think this location is perfect for them.

Yay, an MM within walking distance from the office — and YES, it’s open already! It is the space to the left of Nic’s and the Martini Lounge. I went last week, mid-week around 12:30pm for lunch. It was not that crowded at that hour, and the hostess greeted me right when I walked in. I took a lap around the place before being seated: they have a bakery and bread shop first thing on the left, all the macaroons are there… then the meats and cheeses… then the shop area in the center, and all the divine wines selection on the right wall. The tables are in the center, and on the front patio. I had a quick, simple lunch of iced tea and 4 charcuterie Chef choices of two meats and two cheeses: truffle prosciutto, jamon serrano, manchego, and brie. This came with figs, nuts, pickles, and bread. I also ordered a box of 3 macaroons to go. The quality of the food was divine, and the service was great. All the hostesses and servers checked up on me. And I was in and out in an hour. Which was great, because at 1:15pm the place got PACKED. Take note MM: BH is a late lunch crowd. Can’t wait to go back for my french macaroon fix — they were fresh and delicious. And I’d imagine if I’m in a rush to grab a gift of a bottle of wine, I can pop in and out of there quite easily to do so. Bienvenue a Beverly Hills, monsieur!
