L’atelier

So… WOW.
I’ve been getting bikini waxes with Cindy for about a year now. She is inexpensive, quick, and does a good job.
She can be really sweet or a bit harsh (she referred to me as chubby once).
I called her last night and asked if she could take me at 10am this morn. She said come at 9:50 — it’s just a quick bikini wax she can squeeze me in before her 10am. Was super nice — called me honey and lovey.
Show up this morning and she already had someone in the room. She yells at me from behind the door — denies that I had an appt and says that we never spoke. I reminded her she said she would squeeze me in. She asked the person in the room to get dressed so she can take care of me first. She cracks the door open (I can see the poor girl in her underwear) takes one look at me and sees I’m 8 months pregnant and screams that she can’t rush on me — «come back at 11:30am» when I say I can’t come back at that time, she gets in my face continues to yell at me telling me «to leave» and «get out». I kept my cool (because you can’t reason with crazy) but said I won’t be back. Ever. The people in the front of the salon look shocked and apologize to me.
That was fun.

KATHY! KATHY! She’s the cute little Asian lady that does MANICURES in there! She is the sweetest ever! I love going to her to get my nails done! I don’t mind the drive to her for good nails! She uses good branded nail polish unlike many other places that uses cheap ones that comes off after a day! My nails stay on for at least 2 weeks!
KATHY is cute and funny, I love talking to her while she does my nails!
If you want good MANICURE … Go look for KATHY! I guarantee you’ll be satisfied!

Today was my first time going to Cindy and let me tell you, she will be the only person I get my Brazilian was from ever. So fast and perfect she didn’t miss a thing. Also a very nice and busy woman as well. I highly recommend to stop and see her. Well worth it :)

Cindy has been my go to wax lady since 2008! Shes works out of a small room in this hair salon. I now live 20+ miles away from her but STILL drive out there for waxing. She’s just so fast and efficient I absolutely love it. She uses regular hot wax and linen strips (no fancy organic waxes or anything like that). She’s a no frills no fuss kind of woman. I always snag her first appointment of the day at 7 am and I’m out of there no later than 7:15 (for brazilian and sometimes legs). She’s VERY busy and hates when you are late… so plan accordingly. She’s so sweet and we always have the most wonderful conversations about work and our families. I can’t recommend her enough, I’ve tried a few other places but there’s just no one like Cindy.

I had a Benefit Gala to attend on the 15^th and was surprised to learn that my regular hairdresser – a few doors away – did NOT do «up-do’s» They very nicely suggested I visit YUKI at Gavert Atelia. This young man is more than just good. While waiting for my consultation (the day before) I watched him cutting & styling a gentleman’s hair. His focus and precision were amazing. I already felt assured. We had a good visit and I booked for the next afternoon. My hair is not terribly long – just a bit below the collar, so I was concerned if he could create something truly elegant. This is the very first time I had ever had my hair styled for an event as I have worn short hair for YEARS! The next afternoon I came in, and Yuki had a picture of a look he thought would work for me. I absolutely loved it. He had totally understood what I was going for as well as my concerns.
Needless to say, what he produced was unbelievable. I texted it to my sister right away and she could hardly believe it. In all honesty, Yuki is the kind of rare young hair stylist who will surely one day have his own salon, if not his own chain with a product line accompanying. He was born to do this, and his skills are only matched by his innate talent.

BEST MANICURE ever by KATHY! She’s very techiniqued! Manicures with KATHY here lasts me for 2 weeks! And she uses the best quality brand nail polishes. Be sure to stop by to see KATHY. She’s the cute little asian lady. =)

$ 20 brazilian! Who knew?
Upsides: Cindy is super sweet and adorable and does a great job. Very precise and cleans up afterwards with a tweezer.
Downsides: Have to call to make appointments (no online system, and Cindy is a very busy woman), and the waxing room isn’t entirely sealed off so people outside can hear what’s going on inside (I had to listen to a man Unilocaling during his first back wax while his friend and Cindy couldn’t stop giggling).

I came here for a Brazilian and hello Cindy! For $ 20 and in under 20 minutes, she took care of my hair removal needs. She was fast, efficient, and did a great job.
This is seriously a deal. I will definitely be coming back to her the next time I’m in LA.
