Recently I attempted to archive about 25 hours of VHS video from the 80’s. Much to my surprise, my home VHS-​to-​DVD was full of lines and distortions. As this was my daughters’ first 5 years of life, I was distraught. I called Ray and asked if newer technologies might be able to improve the quality of my original tapes.
Ray was incredibly nice, helpful and accommodating. He was more than happy to educate me on all of the different encoding modalities. After an initial «test drive» with one tape, I entrusted him with the entire batch. Recognizing that DVDs might be a disappearing technology, I asked Ray to transfer the movies to an external hard drive which I had purchased.
I couldn’t be more pleased. The service was prompt and efficient. Most importantly, the videos look brand new. All of the lines and distortions are gone. I am so relieved that I found DVL and that they were able to help.

I was in the middle of creating a video montage for my daughter’s bat mitzvah, and realized about a month before her big day that I had no way to use the hours of videotape I had accumulated over the years. I contacted Video Digital Lab, and they were phenomenal! They picked up the videotapes from my office and had nearly 40 hours of tape digitized onto a hard disk in less than two weeks. They also talked me through some technical issues. The montage was a big hit at my daughter’s party — especially the video parts! Thank you Digital Video Lab — you are tops for quality and customer service!

Who do you take your wedding negatives and wedding video (VHS — yes I’m old) to for conversion to DVD/​CD?
Scary thought, but if they were lost or damaged we have no other copies. I guess on the other hand, if something were to happen I wouldn’t need the pictures or negatives because I’m sure I would be headed for divorce ;)
Unilocal to the rescue… I found Ray’s business and was apprehensive but willing to give it a shot. Ray was very responsive during the entire process. He not only did an amazing job but he also picked them up and delivered them to my house! His invoice was clear and the pricing was more than fair.
This whole process could have been such a mess if anything were to go wrong, but Ray was flawless and a great guy too.
Tip: This would be a great gift for parents or others with tons of videos or negatives that are decaying and need to be converted. Don’t wait until it is too late.

Terrible customer service. Uncommunicative and unapologetic about repeated delays. 3 stars because final product was fine, but don’t use if you’re in a hurry.

Really fantastic tape-​to-​DVD transfer service. Excellent value and service. The DVD I got had a menu with title of my choice and the video quality was great! Much better result than some similar services with a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
