Delicious food! Great casual atmosphere and very friendly staff. I found a new favorite Greek place to eat with my family.

The food is fresh and the owner is a nice guy. They make their own chicken and pork gyro meat in house which is always a plus. The lamb gyro meat is sourced from a place in Chicago that supposedly offers better quality ingredients. But the portion sizes for the gyro sandwiches have really gone down lately. I used to never be able to close the sandwich and now there’s barely any meat in it. I also had a pork chop for dinner that was really dry.

This place def has the best greek food for our area… Plainview/woodbury/syosset/bethpage etc… the gyro lamb meat was best tasting i’ve had in a very long time… yogurt sauce delish… fresh, and not one mistake in to-go order… which is rare. All the other greek take out, zorba, mixed grill, etc, have no taste… I was so happy to find this place, and the people there are so nice… ok…the end!

A little pricey for Greek food, especially compared to Opa Grille(5 min from here) We ordered for delivery and got our food 1.5 hrs later. My sister ordered the souvlaki platter which was phenomenal. My dad ordered a souvlaki sandwich. It was lettuce, tomato & onion. There was absolutely no sauce in it or on the side. When you’re eating a souvlaki sandwich you expect to see sauce otherwise the sandwich doesn’t taste good. They probably would’ve gotten three stars if they just included their sauces instead of being stingy with it. Another thing is that the Greek fries are more expensive than opa grille’s Greek fries, and opa’s are better. Last but not least; I ordered a small kebab sandwich. To my surprise I just got a tiny container full of meat. No bread, no sauce, no veggies. I was expecting a small sandwich but got a ton of meat instead. Really great. Only reason I gave this place two stars and not one is because they do make well seasoned food. Too bad everything else(written above) is well below expectations.

Been here a few times. Eating in is much better than take out. They screwed up take out twice. Food is good but not consistent.

Middle of the road so far here. We have been here twice already. The first time when they opened and the chicken was dry. Ok I gave them a pass since they were starting out but second time around the chicken was dry again. I’m sad because I think the owner is a nice guy and I want him to succeed. I hope that the next time I visit the result will be better. Stay tuned.

This place is super cute! It’s not in a traditional commercial building, it looks like a house, and yes there is parking in the back. I had the gyro platter… the lemon chicken was a little too tart but great when you combine it with the meat & pita. When my friend and I came in, we were the only two in the restaurant so it was nice and quiet. Service was good. I would pass on the dessert here. Nothing impressive. Overall, I would probably come back.

Food is decent. I’ve been here 3 times in tbe last few months and as recently as 2 days ago. The owner doesn’t speak a word ro his customers. Not wven after you say hello to him. He stands there staring at you with a blank look on his face. He won’t retain customers if he keeps this up… Unless he becomes a 5 star eatery whereby people can overlook his ignorance. But it far from that yet.

This place is really good, it has a family feel to it, homemade food, the coffee is delicious– real venizelos! The staff are pleasant, informative, and attentive. I tried the eggs for breakfast, they were fresh and perfectly prepared with a dash of salt and pepper. I’ve had the lunch the pork souvlaki is tender and the portions generous. The fries were crisp not greasy, the pita bread was fresh. I’m going to try the lamb gyro next lunch. We’re going to bring the kids one of these evenings and then see how the dinner is I’m sure it will be tasty!

Placed an order through Unilocal which was convenient and fast. There was no one in the restaurant and I seemed to be the only one picking up. I only had to wait a couple mins after arriving for my food. I ordered a small Greek salad and the Hercules wrap. Both after taxes came to $ 15.10. People working the front were alright not overly friendly and I don’t know if it was the owner but they were on their phone(s), I understand it was a very slow night, but the whole phone thing while you’re working(in plain sight) is just a pet peeve of mine. So the wrap comes with gyro meat, cucumbers, feta and tzatziki sauce. I opted for a whole wheat wrap which was a nice option. After getting home and opening up my wrap I was bummed. They put grilled chicken instead of the gyro meat, sigh. And the wrap itself was lacking meat in general, after a couple of bites in it was mainly just sauce, cucumbers and cheese. Thumbs down. On the plus side they are still killin’ it on the portion size of the small Greek salad, and tons of cheese which I love. The salad was very fresh and I have some left over for another meal. The salad also came with a pita. Need to step up there wrap game and not mess up orders which I’ve read in other reviews, so it seems to be an issue. Check your food before you leave.

I usually do take out from here about once a week. By far the best gyro I have ever had anywhere. They wrap it perfect for you also in the wax paper and foil. Homemade tsatziki sauce was amazing. Brought lunch to friends at work and they said the grilled chicken Greek salad was the best also. The owners are very nice and family owned. Can’t tell enough people about this place. The interior is beautiful also. Always clean and brand new marble throughout. I will be a regular. Craig

Please save your money. This place is super expensive and they messed up my whole order. The chicken gyro is not gyro at all. It is chopped up dark meat that taste so bad. The French fries, rice and potatoes all taste old. I never got my 2 salads. I called to complain and they still never sent my salads. I asked at least for some sort of discount. The manager has bad customer service and he speaks to woman so rude. Save your money and go somewhere else!!! Bad food!

You know an owner of a restaurant takes pride in their business and the food that is serviced, when they are quick to response to a customer comment. I really have to give it to Gus, the owner of My Big Fat Greek Bistro, he was apologetic after my first visit to MBFGB and offered to have us try out the restaurant again. It has been 6-months since my original Unilocal review — last week we went in for take-out and ordered the same meals as last time, two Greek salads one with gyro meat, the other with grilled chicken(for fair comparison) though I was told by Gus that they have added some new choices to the menu. This time around the portions were large, the meat tasty, the dressing had some flavor and best of all red onions have been added! We will certainly be returning to this cute neighborhood restaurant, this time to dine-in and try some of the new additions to the menu. Hopefully if the weather holds out we can enjoy the newly added outdoor seating. Thanks Gus, so happy to have you in town!

As a business owner, i know what it takes to make sure everything is perfect, and i really have to give it to Gus, the owner of My Big Fat Greek Bistro. At our office, we are always hesitant to try new places for lunch, but when our CSR called in the order, her order was taken with courtesy and wasn’t rushed because we had a lot of different orders to go through. Not only did Gus take multiple calls from us, he also delivered the order personally. Sometimes working IN your business goes a lot farther than just working ON your business. As for the food, some of the best Greek i’ve had in a while and this was just basic Gyro specials, but i did get the Spinach Pie which was also fantastic. Everyone in our office was not only happy, but stuffed because the portions are very generous! Thanks again to Gus and his team! From your friends at Sir Speedy Plainview.

First visit to MBFGB for an early dinner. Have passed this place many times and finally decided to check it out. We were welcomed with a smile and given one of the maybe 10 tables inside. They also have some tables on the front veranda. We chatted with Gus, the owner and got the scoop on what was available. For appy we chose the Spinach Pie which was wonderful… perfect crust and the spinach was creamy and full of flavor. Our two mains were almost the same. Bonnie G had the Greek Salad with Gyro Meat and I had the Farmers Salad with Gyro Meat. The servings were huge with a pile of meat atop the salads with a wonderful Tziki(sp) sauce and wedges of pita accompanying it. They have specials on the weekend and we will return to try them soon. This place was well worth the visit!

My first visit here was better than my recent one. We ordered chicken wing appetizers of which some were still ice cold in the center(They didn’t look undercooked, so they were most likely frozen cooked wings re-heated). According to our server, effective yesterday(5÷28÷2015) they stopped allowing substitution of salad in place of french fries. So much for options for health conscious individuals. This is enough for me to recommend visiting any one of the other Greek restaurants in the area.

Food was great. We ordered takeout and I called to see if the feta was pasteurized for my wife. Immediately the nice lady on the phone informed me that it was, but still wasn’t safe to eat! My wife wasn’t happy that there was another cheese she couldn’t eat, but all the other food was amazing. AND! She put an order of Ride Pudding in the bag with a nice label on it that said«For Pregnant Women ONLY!!» So nice. Will be ordering from here again!

This place really is great! The gyro and all the other meats are so tasty and moist, and this is coming from someone who does not eat gyros. Their soups are all always delicious, especially the avgolemono. Also, they have started using red onions on their salads, which is awesome, because white onions do suck. Also, the comment here about 8 dollar fries is false. It costs 10 with a gyro, so it’s only 3 more. 14.95 is how much a platter costs and you get to pick two side dishes. Anyone who speaks of skimpy portions is seriously delusional because their portions are ridiculously large!!! Point is, if you want okay Greek food, go elsewhere, if you want excellent Greek food with great service go, to the Greek Bistro!!!
