We visited the other night and were disappointed to find that Yamas has slipped. We were served an eggplant dip that was clearly past its expiration date. The salad we got to go along with our entrees was not spoiled but not fresh, either. Other dishes(octopus and especially the lamb chops) were as good as I remembered. Service-wise, our waitress was pleasant and attentive, but another staff member starting wiping the floor down near us with a big bucket of disinfectant as we were in the middle of our meal — the smell of ammonia pretty much cancelled our appetites. This wasn’t right at closing time, either, it was just a little past 8 on a weekday night. They put our requested side of tzatziki sauce on the wrong plate. There are odd stains on the wall(near the ‘seat yourself’ sign). A lot of little things that individually I might have dismissed but too much to confront all at once. Probably won’t go back for a while unless I hear the management has tightened things up.

We came to Yamas with some friends with whom we had been to Greece. Overall the food was great. We had a veg mezzo platter, a cheese«spanokapita» and a Greek salad to start, followed by lamb chops(tender and moist), moussakka was good and a falafel salad. The falafel, both on the starters and the entrée, was delicious. The service was very personal. All in all a lovely experience. Will certainly return.

We were in the mood for Greek food and I had heard great things about Yamas. It was a busy Friday night but we quickly got seated. Our service was wonderful and everyone was making sure we had food and drinks. We both enjoyed the food and wine, it was not a cheap night out but the price was ok. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and have not complaints about the food at all. We will be back as Yamas is close to our home.

Told server fries not fresh, she literally argued with me instead of getting me fresh fries with my over priced entrée. Would not recommend.

Nothing special. Not that cheap, either. Pork souvlaki is basically just lumps of fat, chicken souvlaki is too dry, and the falafel is mushy and flavorless. Stick with the gyro. Opa fries with olive oil and feta are good. To-go service is pretty quick and staff are friendly. I wouldn’t go if it weren’t right by my office, though.

We have patronized this restaurant about a dozen times in the last few years. Sure, it is noisy but the food and experience is usually good. Seems like they might have changed the menu because I wanted the small Yamas burger I used to order off the lunch menu. It costs around $ 6 and change and comes with a few fries. The young waitress went to find out if it was okay to order that item since it was now dinner time. She returned saying it was okay. The burger arrived — it was a little dry and overcooked but it was the dinner portion — much larger and with a lot of fries. When the check came, I was charged $ 13.95 for the dinner portion. I motioned to the young waitress twice to come over but she didn’t respond. An older woman who said she was the manager came over. She said the lunch burger was not available at dinner and that I needed to pay the check. I explained that the young waitress had checked and said it was okay. The older woman quickly became argumentative and said that could not be — and there was an unnecessary back and forth exchange in which she raised her voice and was simply rude. Eventually, she agreed to change the price to the lunch price(as originally agreed with our first waitress). She muttered something about our first waitress not really knowing her job properly. She came back with the check reissued for a lower price but the item was still not the correct price. We paid, left a 15% tip, and left. The meal was generally enjoyable but the unnecessarily rude treatment by the older woman who claimed to be the manager put a damper on our enjoyment. We will probably be back but probably later than sooner. P. S. I would not normally have written a less than stellar review but looking at other reviews — I can see several other customers have also experienced rudeness.

It’s been THREEDAYS and still no refund. Was originally told it would happen within minutes, then 24 hours and now they don’t know what their policy is. Called yesterday and asked to speak with the owner. Gave them my number, still waiting on a call. And for those of you who didn’t read the original review– this is a refund they said they’d give because they refused to deliver during the hours posted on their website. When I call I get 20 different stories– or HUNGUP on. I almost never write bad reviews but you DON’T mess around with peoples money. Especially when they have limited funds because they’re using a back up account while waiting for their new card in the mail. It’s been 3 days and I’m still waiting. This is a terribly run buisiness-staff know nothing and hang up the phone on customers who have been wronged. Am contemplating reporting them to the Better Business Bureau

Oh man am I glad I found this place! If you are staying at the Double Tree across the street, do not even waste your time with the hotel food. Eww! I ordered via the Unilocal app. Walked-in in minutes, and picked up my order. In and out. Piece of cake! I ordered the ½ chicken and rice. Comes with garlic dipping sauce and a couple slices of lemon. It’s absolutely unbelievably delicious! The chicken has a lemon olive oil that was already all underneath the chicken so it doesn’t even need sauce! Both the chicken and rice are moist and perfectly cooked. Can bet the rest is as good.

Love it here! I always get the same thing– a chicken pita and some opa fries. Very consistent on quality and taste. Any penny you spend here will be well worth it.

Solid Greek place. I really like their bowls… Pick a meat and sides. I typically get chicken with rice and sautéed mushrooms and roasted vegetables. Really filling and tasty and a good price. Can’t beat it. Also they deliver!

For the burrito wraps and the Opa fries alone I give it 4 stars. The wraps are huge pockets of deliciousness: sun-dried tomato tortilla, orzo & rice mix, feta, your choice of meat(I suggest lamb), tzazkiki, veggies, tomato sauce, caramelized onions, hmmm! You can choose up to three toppings like hummus, babaganoush, but that would be gluttony(which is very much what I am guilty of everyday). The burrito wraps are huge here but if you are up for sharing, may I suggest a side of Opa fries?(they are a bit like boardwalk fries but tossed with olive oil and tons of feta: CANNOTRESIST). If you are up for a change, the lamb burger is pretty good and the zucchini fritters are pretty delicious.

This place is near my apartment, and I’ve been thinking about going for awhile, but didn’t make it there until a visitor suggested we give it a try. We went for an early dinner, and the place was pretty empty– only 1 or 2 other tables were occupied. They also have a take-out window, which I plan to take advantage of in the future! They have small plates for sharing($ 4.95-$ 19.95). We tried the Opa! fries($ 4.95) — fried in olive oil, with feta and Tzatziki– and they were pretty amazing. They also have burgers, salads, soups, chicken, sides, and a «build your own» pita/wrap/bowl menu. I went with a pita with the«yamas gyro»($ 8.95) and it was *delicious*! Side note– they also sell beer/wine/liquor. Our waitress was friendly. The food didn’t come out super fast, but it was a nice pace for dinner and talking. I also liked the décor inside– it felt cozy and comfortable. Overall, two thumbs up– I’ll definitely be back to try the take-out as well!

Amazing meat. I’ve been looking for this exact style of Gyro meat. And those feta fries… So authentic. So fresh. So tasty. If you’re staying at the Double Tree in Bethesda check out my partners over at Yamas and tell ‘em Big Texas sent you!

I eat Yamas at least once sometimes twice per week… I am hooked. I love this place. The food is excellent… my favorite is the rice bowl with gyro meat. I’m also a huge fan of the opa fries… super delicious! The amount of food you get for the price is something that you can’t beat. I would recommend Yamas to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean cuisine, this is definitely a hidden gem.

Yamas is never disappointing — they are always right on when it comes to freshness, taste and service. The saganaki is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life, just make sure you get some whole wheat pita with it — It makes the entire experience even better. The chicken souvlaki is out of this world and I highly recommend the falafel sandwich. I think I’ve pretty much had everything on their menu with the exception of any red meat or any pork items and I can truly say that it’s always outstanding and tasty. Don’t forget about the house wine under $ 4 a glass. Where the hell can you get a glass of great wine for $ 4 in Bethesda? Good luck with that! It’s very family-friendly and a great casual restaurant.

What a disappointment! I LOVE Mediterranean food, and this place is right by my apartment, so I was really excited to try it. Bf got take out for us… after that experience, I doubt we’ll try this place again. He got some pizza with chicken on it. He was eating it and looking very sad. I thought it was odd that anyone could eat pizza and not be happy, but he said it was pretty bad. He found at least 3 – 4 chicken bones on the pizza. I was excited to eat my Greek salad with gyro meat. I had gotten one the previous week from Peter’s Carry Out, so I figured this one would be very similar – lettuce, olives, cucumber, tomato, onion, feta, gyro. There was no lettuce(the word«salad» can be a bit deceiving, I suppose) and instead, just HUGE chunks of mealy tomatoes and cucumbers… and two olives and a few pieces of red onion. Good amount of feta, though. All I could eat was the gyro meat, cheese, and a few cucumbers. The gyro meat wasn’t bad, which was the only saving grace. Half of the«salad» went in the trash. What a waste.

This place wasn’t too bad. Bethesda is a little out of the way for me, so I wouldn’t come back unless I was in the area. Location: small, kind of stuffy inside. We ended up sitting outside because we had our dog anyway. There are only about 5 tables setup for their outdoor seating. Service: They came out a lot to ask if we were doing ok. I think there was some confusion on who was waiting our table, but it was because we were sitting on non-standard tables that they had set up for their festival anyway. Otherwise, very good service – they brought out a container of water for our dog, and checked up on us. Food came out decently fast. Parking: Paid street/garage parking, boo. Food: — Hummus & pita: you can choose from regular or wheat pita, which was pretty delicious. The hummus had a good flavor and texture, there was a LOT of it, too. — ½ chicken with 2 sides: I got the roasted potatoes and roasted veggies. The chicken was pretty good – the flavoring was good, but a little on the sour side? it wasn’t crispy since it’s baked, but the meat was tender and juicy. The roasted potatoes with tzatziki dip was awesome. The roasted veggies were a littttlee salty. They were very soft and mushy, though(I kind of like that. the portion was very large – they have large chickens, apparently. — Galatobeureko(Custard with Phyllo and syrup) –my first time having it. Tasted kinda like a syrupy soft and mushy baklava. It was pretty good. — Rice pudding –the rice was a little chunky for me, but the flavor was decent. I wouldn’t voluntarily order this again, though… Overall, I’ve been to better Greek/Mediterranean places, but they have a lot of stuff on the menu that I would come back to try like their calamari and octopus dishes.
