The only thing worthwhile here are the pancakes. I’m not usually a pancakes lover but I got the carrot cake pancakes when I came here and OMG were they amazing. I also got one of the specials which I had to ask the waitress to ask the chef if they could make it special since they«pre-make everything so couldn’t accommodate my request» which was basically an omelette in a bowl. Still got the order wrong, food is decent but service was horrible.

The staff was very attentive and courteous. For a simple, unpretentious business breakfast, this isn’t a bad choice. Coffee and waters were refilled promptly. Meals came out quick. Seating was available for 8am easily. Note well: park underneath the building for validation. They don’t validate(make sense) for county lots in surrounding buildings.

Nothing impressive about it. I ordered the Golden Waffle Works… which was a mistake on my part because the description stated it came with«one half» of a waffle. Didn’t understand that at all because with the pancake and the french toast options you get the complete portion and not just a half — — and there’s no difference in price. But I guess it ended up working out because I barely touched the waffle… it was pretty bland. The eggs and potatoes weren’t much better. The only thing I really ate was the overcooked bacon. I honestly would’ve been better off staying at home with a bag of pork rinds. Another thing to note is that the menu listed hash browns as one of the sides but I was served with homestyle potatoes instead. Our waitress was confused and spaced out the entire time and had zero proactivity. We had to ask for syrup, we had to ask for more napkins, we had to ask for drink refills, she didn’t tell us until she had sat the refills in front of us that we had to pay extra for them, and when the bill came she had double charged one of the items. IHOP has this place beat and that says a lot. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because at least the place was clean. Everything else was lackluster.

The Original Pancake House is an All-American breakfast diner. Good place for the whole family to get together for a meal. Great for kids. Crayons included. The food was decent and the portions were large. I had the Golden Waffle Works and my friend had the Crêpe Works. Everything was fine except for the waffle and the crêpe which seemed a bit stale. The coffee is weak and tasted burnt, but surprisingly addictive as the meal went on. The servers were busy but attentive. Overall a good experience.

It’s a decent place to get a quick meal, but it gets packed on the weekend mornings so it’s best to call ahead.

My friend and I were seated immediately outside on a Sunday morning. The place was pretty busy and there was lots of outdoor seating. We both ordered the avocado toast which comes with hash browns, but for some reason they would not let my friend substitute her hash browns for anything except for maybe pancakes. This seemed kind of silly considering the hash browns were just a side on the plate and it would have been easy to just not put them on the plate and put some fruit on instead, which she wanted. My friend also found a hair in her coffee which was definitely not hers. The avocado on the avocado toast was actually just guacamole on top of the soggy bread. The avocado/guac honestly was probably the same guac that I buy from the grocery store because it looked and tasted the same. Usually when I get avocado toast at a restaurant it is made with slices of avocado and not guacamole. On their menu they post all of the calorie counts and other than side items like fruit everything is at least 500 calories. We also ordered a side of bacon to share which never arrived(luckily we weren’t charged for it so maybe the waitress just forgot about it). Overall, pretty subpar dining experience. I’m somewhat willing to give something from sweet side of the menu a try, but that’s a big maybe and is only because I live close by.

I’m never disappointed by this place when I go there. The omelettes are HUGE and the banana and strawberries topping on the pancakes is delicious! There is always a wait whenever I go there on the weekends, but it is worth it. One of my favorite breakfast places. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish they stayed open later.

Barely saw my waitress at all, she barely even came to the area where I was seated and what should have been barely any hour long breakfast dragged on for two. Even the smallest requests took anywhere from 15 minutes to half an hour. Terrible service and average food.

Amazing. Stupendous. Almost perfect. Found myself in Bethesda two weekends in a row for work. Had been to the Pancake House in Rockville –but this one is so much better. The food was delish(blueberry waffles and the spinach omelette), the service friendly(she even remembered me), and the overall dining experience just right. A must-do in the area — for breakfast, lunch, or brunch.

Couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied after this meal :( Veggie wrap was drenched in salt — don’t order! I ordered the Special Apple Pancakes. Maybe seeing the calorie content made it taste less than appetizing for me but I was expecting better. Overall seemed like another IHOP

Pancakes are quite good, fluffy and perfect. Fake butter all over the place, but its diner-esque food. Hash browns are good, scrambled eggs are good, but more like an omelet then cut up. Bacon is very thick cut. Service is good, but not it’s always busy. We waited about 20 mins at 10:15 am on a saturday. Very crowded.

The best breakfast in Bethesda for a good price. 11 dollars for 2 Eggs, 3 pancakes, 3 pieces of bacon and toast/home fries. I love OHOP, I think everyone is nice but service can be slow and it’s very crowded.

I love this neighborhood eatery. I’m not too crazy about the pancakes, but their French toasts are delicious! My other favorite breakfast from them is the corn-beef hash and eggs. I find most places cook this dish too salty, but here it’s perfect. love the overall coziness of the place too. A very good Sunday brunch place that’s reasonably priced and consistent.

APPLAUSES! For someone who doesn’t partake in the normalcy of pancakes & omelettes, my food experience was just as FAB! We were placed at a big table for the 3 of us with the patio as our backdrop. As soon as our jackets came off & we got settled in our chairs, Donald was at our table with a cheek to cheek smile. He welcome us & asked what we wanted start off to drink. We gave him the order & he must have has the OJ Tree is pocket as he was back in a flash. He made a few quick trips back & forth before we were ready order, nice to see his eagerness of wanting to serve. I’m starting to realize that when we break bread, everyone has me ordering 1st as if my inquiries & or requests are really that complex. Hence the question I asked, «what do you offer or can prepare that is Vegan friendly?» Even though I only consume Salmon, my approach alleviates time being wasted, so hello that’s the key… LOL. Well that Donald was so over on point he offered me so many options, & I ended up with a huge plate of sauté veggies & french fries… the home fries were cooked in butter so we improvised. My meat cohorts settled on omelettes & such & we we’re all good to go. Donald floated among his many tables & really did a fantastic job of taking care of all of his customers. Not a long wait for our food to arrive, even though my came 1st of course(who gotcha), then their huge & dome looking omelettes arrived & we enjoyed our meal. After a good hour of food & fellowship I asked Donald to bring the Manager over. I always start off with a little dry foolery in stating the server needs to be fired, to create an element of confusion before I give my compliment… it works every time. David, the General Manager actually was a little defensive in a good way stating his others customers would not be happy if he got rid of Donald. Yet he was such a team player & very happy to hear good raves about his serving staff. He actually took a few minutes out to school me on the omelette making process as I’m used to seeing the half crescent not a frisbee looking egg creation… lesson learned. It makes a dining experience more enjoyable & valuable when Management takes the time out of their never ending day to chat with their customers along with the staff & everyone is in a positive foodie sync. After hearing Donald was from Haiti & the passion he exudes when speaking(he’s so humble probably doesn’t even notice), we bought a greeting card designed by elementary students for their charitable effort of supporting Haiti, Cards of Joy. A full tummy of good food, even greater service & giving back all in a one meal setting, was an awesome way to start 2016. Now, I just have to keep working on David, the GM to incorporate Mimosas.

Good food. We sat pretty fast but the waitress took a while to come to our table. She finally came and we placed our order. Everything was just right. Our food was cooked fine except my husband egg salad, or should I call it onion salad. I’ve never seen an onion salad made with HUGE chucks of onion. He was not happy but the rest of our food was very good.

I have no complaints! I split the reese’s pancakes with a friend they come with 6 pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and topped with chunks of reese’s candy and a dollop of whipped cream. They were good plain and with syrup. The service was good, waters stayed filled and the waitress brought syrup to the table quickly. We didn’t have to wait long for our order to be taken or for the food. I’ll be back to review more!

Positive experience here — took only 15 minutes to grab a table for 2. As for the omelette, they substituted ham instead of bacon for me. It was HUGE! Likely the size of my head. They also provided me a ton of jalapenos with no charge, unlike certain restaurants to be unnamed. Coffee was refilled frequently, and the waitress was extremely courteous. Positive experience yet again with the OPH!

At least once a month I make it my business to have breakfast at this place. Legend has it that they serve about twenty different types of pancakes. I wouldn’t know. I had bacon pancakes a few years ago and haven’t had anything else since. Every single visit I tell myself that I’ll try the apple pancakes or the dutch oven pancakes, but then I get there and the power of bacon compels me. Sure, I could get bacon on the side, but as Scrooge McDuck said in an episode of Ducktales that I saw about 20 something years ago that I still remember for some very odd and concerning reason…“work smarter, not harder.” Why subject myself to the exhausting labor of picking up bacon and carrying it all the way to my mouth when I can let it rest in all of of it’s porkish glory on a cloud-like bite of a buttermilk pancake? And why invite the stress of «the last bite?» At some point I’d have to decide whether the bacon or the pancake would be the last bite. This just makes my life easier. I guess I should review the restaurant too. They have windows and doors. There’s a floor that runs the length of the whole place. There are people who bring food to your table. It’s an all around magical experience… if you get the bacon pancakes.

I love this place, especially for what I like to call«hangover brunch». There is almost always a wait for breakfast/lunch, but the earlier you come, the shorter the wait. You have to be present to put your name on the list, then wait it out– however, it’s always a bit shorter than the wait they tell you, which I appreciate. The waiting area is small; however, there is some space outside the restaurant where people wait, and I always see kids running around there while they wait. The restaurant area itself is good enough– nothing special, but nothing to complain about. The waitstaff is always very nice but on the slow side– I’ve waited 5 – 10 minutes to receive an iced tea refill I asked for, for example. You’re lucky if you get one or two refills on water or drinks during your breakfast. But I’ve always had the food come out quickly and correctly, and with generous portions. They have a billion types of pancakes– including gluten free pancakes! I’ve only had the buttermilk($ 7.50), which are delicious, but I can’t comment on the other flavors. I usually get some sot of eggs dish, such as the bacon & eggs(2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, and 3 buttermilk pancakes for $ 9.20). I love that they have the option to get pancakes with most meals or on the side, because I can usually never decide if I want pancakes or eggs! They have calorie counts on their menu and the menu is posted online, so if you’re trying to watch your intake, you can easily plan ahead. They also have a children’s menu as well! Overall, a great place that is somewhere between an IHOP and a fancy brunch out with the girls, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The main reason to come here is that the food comes fast, is moderately priced, and with generous portions– and the pancakes are delicious. Two thumbs up!

My BFF and I come here twice a month for breakfast. I love coming here because the dishes that they do well are always consistent. The bacon is always perfectly made and you cannot beat the pancake, waffles and crêpe choices here. I go for the pancakes every time, though. My favorite are the coconut pancakes, which I get with a side of blueberry compote and a side of bacon. The orange juice is freshly squeezed, so I recommend a glass of that. Be advised that the breakfast rush on weekends here is crazy, so you always have to wait, but they run an efficient business so the wait is never too bad(unless your party is very large). Dishes I didn’t really care for(but seem to be a highlight for some): the dutch baby(two sweet and not enough flavor), and the lingonberry crepes.

One of those places where the only problem is too many choices on the menu. There was a small wait, but it was completely worth it. Clean, lots of seating, and fast employees. The menu is huge and the prices are pretty great. I had a hard time choosing, but settled on the Pigs in a Blanket with Turkey Links. The pancakes were flavorful — clearly from a well-seasoned griddle — and held up perfectly around the links. I’m usually not a fan of turkey sausage, either, but this was good. Absolutely no complaints about this place! I can imagine it gets pretty crazy at peak hours, so I advise planning ahead.

I was lounging in my hotel room bed on Saturday morning, not particularly motivated to get up, until I scrolled through the nearby restaurants on Unilocal and saw this place. After checking out some of the photos and showing them to my partner, we decided it was well worth getting out of bed. Though everyone warns of a long wait, it was only 9am and we only waited about 15 minutes. We sat outside, which was probably our only mistake — it was a bit too chilly, and the waiters attempted to keep visiting us but it was harder to flag them down outside. I went with the apple cinnamon waffle, which was delicious. I was the only one to finish my meal, as the omelets and apple pancake were GIANT, for too much for one person. Unfortunately this isn’t a regular destination for me, but I wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

Surprised by some of the low ratings for OHOP. Back where I live, they have many high remarks. Anyway, me and my dad came here on a weekday morning. No lines and no wait. I ordered French toast topped with almonds and a side of their bacon. Loved every bite of the French toast that also came with whipped cream. Rich flavor and the sliced almonds made it even better. The bacon was excellent. Thick sliced bacon with with a mix of savory and sweet taste. The portions are large so I was able to take some home and finish it later in the day. Still tasted awesome. My dad also enjoyed what he ordered. OHOP is a wonderful choice if you’re feigning for a breakfast of champions. Cheers.

Somehow this place is super popular for breakfast. I don’t think anything is particularly special about it except for the location. Even that can be an issue when you have to also think about where to park. I think the food is much better at IHOP. Last time I got the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry jam. They were okay but a bit overcooked for my taste. It’s not worth making any special trip here but if you are nearby and need some pancakes, it will provide. Prices are also too high for what you get. Keep expectations low and it will be an okay experience.

We came here from a recommendation from a friend while visiting DC area. It is not too far from Washington D.C. but get here early otherwise you will be waiting in line. If you love Dutch pancakes & you have children you will all leave full & happy. That is what comfort food is all about no? The apple pancakes is like wow. Like eating apple pie in the morning and they give you real ice cream to eat it. Def share with people as I doubt one person could eat one pancake. Think of it as family style for your family!
