Such nice, generous people with a sweet dog on premises to add to the appeal! Had a necklace repaired and another one modified today. Couldn’t have been more pleasant and was a total success.

I have been a customer of Kenwood Jewelers for 25 years, and have always received excellent service. They are extremely honest and create one-of-a– kind jewelry pieces which are hand made. The repairs are super well done, and have been very happy with their work !

A family run business-very high quality repairs at a reasonable cost. Quick too! This is an old fashioned shop and I mean that in a very positive way. They do not take credit cards but do take personal checks. Do you know what the companies charge monthly for the machine that takes the credit card? Let’s leave it to say that is is a lot of money. No wonder why small mom and pop stores don’t offer credit card payment. Both my son and I enjoyed interacting with the owner and his charming wife and very their old yellow lab.

Tucked away in a little strip mall in Bethesda is a quaint little jewelry shop that has been in business for 28 years. The first thing I noticed upon entry was the dingy dirty wall to wall carpet which LOOKED as if it had been there the same length of time! The owner is a charming but gruff jeweler who defines the term«old school.» Both he & his ever-present wife have very strong accents which made communication difficult at times. I dropped off a gold-plated item which needed a spring to be replaced. I was told it would be ready Mon. or Tues. but when I called on Wed. it was still not ready. When I picked up the item, I noticed it didn’t close as well as it did originally. Protestations ensued: «not my fault», etc. Moving on. Reached for a credit card to pay and was told«we don’t take credit cards.» Puzzled, — I looked for a sign anywhere in the shop, on the door, counter top, behind the counter… no sign indicating that… Owner’s comment: you ALSO don’t see any sign that we DO take credit cards. Sure enough, there was no sign either way to indicate what type of payment was acceptable! To me, — that is unacceptable, — especially in a jewelry shop where everything is going to be expensive! I mean, — come on guys, — this isn’t the«dollar store»! If I hadn’t happened to have either the cash or a checkbook, — I would have had to make another 1 hr. round-trip back home to get the«correct» funds to pay my bill!(N.B. I had called 2x to see if my piece was ready and been in the store once and nary a word about what form of payment they accepted!) Again, — totally unacceptable! While I do like«mom n pop» stores and I appreciate the«old world» flavor, — with all due respect: this ain’t the«old country»! If you don’t want to accept credit cards, — fine! At least have the courtesy to POST that message for your customers!
